Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Live that it looks like they are going to do Ric Flair vs Eddy Guerrero at KOTR.
Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Given that Flair showed he can still put on an awesome match like he did with Austin a couple of weeks ago, this could be a good thing.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted June 17, 2002 That match was awesome? I've seen some awesome matches in WWF and that wasn't one of them. But I guess that word has a different meaning to you.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted June 17, 2002 What? They're going to build it up in one show?
Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 But I guess that word has a different meaning to you I've put away a few Rolling Rocks within the last 30 minutes, so forgive me if I fall victim to hyperbole. I enjoyed that Austin-Flair match immensely, and think it deserves about ***1/2. This, incidentally, is coming from a guy who hasn't liked a single Flair match since he rejoined the WWF. Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 17, 2002 At least Guererro is getting put into another program. I was worried he would drop out of sight for a few weeks, or drift along with no direction. Flair has done well in his mathces especially when you consider who they've been against (Undertaker, Vince, Hogan). The Austin match was good, not great, and I wonder how much of that is because of Austin's motivation at the time. A Flair - Eddy match could and should be very good. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted June 17, 2002 It's not like a simple angle can't set this up: Eddy is pissed at Flair for doing something so stupid (fighting Vince) and so he jumps over to Vince's side to get some revenge on Flair. It would also be an opportune time to turn Arn Anderson as they hinted towards on Monday.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Ok, that's great, but what about Benoit? WHAT ABOUT BENOIT? Hell, what about what was in MY eyes the new Four Horsemen? :-(
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 17, 2002 At least Guererro is getting put into another program. I was worried he would drop out of sight for a few weeks, or drift along with no direction. Yea, I was wondering what would happen to Guerrero as well. He didn't do anything, but it seems he's one of the real losers. I was afraid they were just going to do a quick rehash of his RVD feud like they did in the King of the Ring qualifier. Not that there was anything specifically wrong with the feud, and there were some good matches, but there wasn't really any mic work to keep it going. Good to see Guerrero will be kept in a fairly high-profile match, and I might actually have a reason to regret missing the PPV.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Benoit can't wrestle for a few more weeks at least, so it's not like he's a huge concern at this point. Just ally him with either Vince or Flair and run with it until he can work.
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I for one have enjoyed seeing Flair in the ring lately, something I cannot say for his work in the latter days of WCW. I think him and Eddie will pull off most likely the best match of the show........who's Jericho facing? Venis?

Yes, but I'm just saying, the only motivation that Austin had for turning heel, and his current program was totally around Austin. Hell, he was blaming Austin for taking him out of action for all this time. I'm sure they'll come up with something, but this really sucks to have to fix him up with something totally new like this, and yes, I'm pissed off about this deal with Austin... ...but hey, maybe they'll do something even better with him, and *gasp*, promote him to the Main Event that much earlier? Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I agree with what was said before, with Guerrero turning on Flair and siding with Vince. As for Benoit, he could stay loyal to Ric and then we'd get Benoit vs. Guerrero! I think its a win-win situation, because Eddy gets to stay near the top of the card, plus Benoit gets a mouth peice in Flair, and a damn good one at that. Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 It will be a great match.. they crossed paths a few times in WCW if i remember correctly. They actually have a story t base it on too. Flair pissed Eddy didnt help him.. and then we get: FLAIR VS BENOIT @ Summerslam!!!! sign me up!!
Guest Ash Ketchum Report post Posted June 17, 2002 For some reason, Austin's departure seems to have opened the door for Flair, Eddy, and Benoit even wider. Those are some kick ass ideas. *holds up "FLAIR MARK! WOOOO!" sign*
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 This could be a very good match. From what I gather, Flair has always been high on Guerrero, and could help put he and Benoit over as a major threat. As a former Observer reader, I remember back in 1995-1996, when Guerrero had recently arrived and was getting the fans behind him, that Flair supposedly offered him the "Steamboat push", where Flair would surprisingly drop the title to Eddy and try to get him over with a feud.
