Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 17, 2002 With the Austin news out, I was just wondering what you all thought were the top 3 wrestling news headlines of 2002. If I don't get lazy, maybe I'll tally after a few days.
Guest franchise632 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 1) Austin allegedly beats his wife Debra 2) Austin walks out on WWE 2 hrs before RAW 3) WWFE signs Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Hulk Hogan Those would be mine. The third story is more suprising because of the timing of when it happend, and the fact that they brought them all in together.

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I was just thinking about a topic like this. Probably the three most controversial and biggest headlines of the year are: 1) Steve Austin leaves the WWE for good, and is suspected of hitting Debra 2) The Plane Ride back to the USA from the European Tour 3) Vince McMahon signs Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall I was thinking though. What are the top five most controversial and talked about headlines ever in the history of pro-wrestling? Mine are as follows..... 1. Vince McMahon Publicly Humiliates Bret Hart forcing him to jump to WCW (Montreal, November 17, 1997) 2. Hulk Hogan goes to WCW and turns heel with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall at "Bash at the Beach" 3. Steve Austin leaves the WWE due to creative differences with Vince McMahon and Jim Ross *I really can't think of other very controversial events of this magnitude*

Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 It's offical: This is the worst year of the WWE (Image wise and promotion wise) EVER!! Think about it: The Rock, the man who was the main reason behind the WWE still being strong during the Austin neck surgery period back in 2000, is out in Hollywood, making movies and will, at best will wrestle part time. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hulk Hogan, three men who indivually almost destroyed the company, come in all together and proceed to be momentous flops and the WWE loses more money in the process. Triple H returns and proceeds to bury wrestlers who are better than him. Undertaker also buries the wrestlers. Shawn Micheals returns and just one week into his first "full time" WWE return since being the comissioner back in 1998, is already causing trouble with his shoot comments and X-Pac is already being a whiny bitch. The World Wrestling Federation dies because of some hippie organaztion and becomes World Wresting Entertanment. Casual fans and the media associate wrestling with WWF not WWE so it hurts their public identiy and lose hundreds and millions of dollars in the process. And finally... Steve Williams a.k.a. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the company's biggest star, the man respnsible for leading the WWF into sucess back in 1998, walks out of the job and possbly the WWE forever and to limit his chances of return, beats up his wife and is "allegledly" on the run from the law. This hurts the WWE and Austin. Add to the fact that there is crappy storylines and bad wrestling and this has been a bad year. Not as bad as 1995, but 2nd worst. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 17, 2002 i would have to agree. Ever since Vince bought wcw... if he would have kept it secret and have shane and steph run it behind the scenes, than wwf would have had competition. Without another competition, when things start to suck on a promotion, fans lose interest and leave. I personally think that Steve is either on something or is so depressed and angry that he is taking it out on his wife which is NOT the thing to do. A man doesnt hit a woman. Period. I have lost all respect for him and i personally think that he is a coward for walking out and for beating his wife. Austin inspired legions of new fans and he will never be forgotten and i respect and admire his in-ring work but as a person goes, i have lost respect for him.
