I'm led to believe, that, in 1993, Kobashi could have worked with the worst wrestler in the world and pulled out a ****+ match. So yes, Kobashi vs. Bret would have easily hit that and higher.

i don't know, there would be a pretty heavy styles clash.  everybody in all jappan stiffs the shit out of each other, and bret was always very vocal about not wanting to be stiffed, so he may not have been too cooperative.

Kobashi was always at his best when he was staggering around after getting hit with near-death power moves, but Bret didn't really have any of those, most of what he did was kick, punch, work the leg, 5MOVESOFDOOM, sharpshooter.  Kobashi wouldn't have gotten to show his fighting spirit quite as much as he did against larger asskickers.
