Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 people here a while ago were making some valid points about just dumping Austin or other top guys. The observer has written stories with similar sentiments that every time new stars seem to eventually rise up is when you lose a couple top guys. Hogan pushed out and Savage knocked down/out led to Bret, Diesel, and Shawn. Montreal and Shawn's retirement led to Austin and Rock. Now Austin's gone and Rock is part time at best, do you think we will see two new "official" top tier guys? I mean even if WWE has shown that it cant (at least we think it cant), History has shown that by hook or by crook, it does happen....... who do you think will get it? Trying to judge realistically that is.. feel free to expand upon who you'd like to see. It seems like the company is going in the way of Edge and Brock. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Edge (Because apparently Vince sees something in him that I'm just totally missing) Test (Because, God Damnit, he's bound to get over ONE of these days) Two guys who DON'T suck and SHOULD be the "Big Two" Angle Jericho
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I wouldn't push Angle now because he'll be off training for the Olympics in December. I would push Booker T, Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I won't say Angle or Jericho, because IMO they are already stars, they are just handled ineptly by bad booking. This is the time though that guys like Kurt, Jericho, RVD, Eddie, Benoit and the like can finally prove themselves (not to us), but to the WWE and show that they can make it as main players. As for "breakout" stars: It's obvious that they want Brock to be the true "next big thing". Ross stated in a Ross Report that he's going to get a good run as a WWE champion in the near future. Same with Edge, who is no doubt going to be positioned as a headliner upon his return. Booker T. could finally break out of his comedic midcard jobber status that he got stuck in when Rock refused to help him get over, and become a main event player in the WWE. I think they could have handled his turn better, and I think they are making a mistake by sticking he and Brock against each other tonight, but hey, I'm not writing the shows (and I actually show logic in my booking!) Hurricane, Hardcore Holly (seriously, fans may want another badass to cheer), Christian, Kidman and Lance Storm could all make it in the upper mid-card. Here's hoping for less Test, Mark Henry and X-Pac, and more of these guys.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Fans want to cheer Bob Holly? ???
Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2002 X-Pac- He'll threaten to walk out Henry- He's big dammit Bradshaw- HOSS~ Test- Shane McMahon And anyone else that makes friends with the Kliq will be pushed.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Not necessarily Holly. I put him there because he's a legit badass, and it would be more believable than saying, oh...Justin Credible or X-Pac are badasses (OK, they THINK they are, but we know they're nothing but whining, frightened little children...at least in X-Pac's case. Credible's just a never-was.)
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Henry- He's big dammit lol. man I hate Henry. what no jokes about a certainheld down youngster who could really take that next step due to his intensity?

That's one case where I hope fans would want to cheer Bob Holly. God forbid Hershey Highway Hero breaks up with The Boss' daughter. That shit will be better than the Austin saga and all the backstage turmoil combined!
Guest Brian Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Shawn Michaels, Nash, X-Pac, Big show, and HHH.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 God forbid Hershey Highway Hero breaks up with The Boss' daughter. That shit will be better than the Austin saga and all the backstage turmoil combined! thats probably the only thing that could top the weirdness of this week. Shawn Michaels, Nash, X-Pac, Big show, and HHH. yeah ive heard of them i think, a bunch of young studs, spent time in OVW/HWA , they are supposed to be like those Natural Born Thrillers right? Ive heard great things about this Heartbreak Kid.. he could really be something someday.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I hear that HBK might be the next Jeff Hardy
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Actually, it's funny how everyone called Jeff Hardy the next Shawn Michaels, and that's pretty much what he his...a burnt out near-cripple, trying to live off past heat. I'm a Michaels fan (of the worker, not the politician), and I can admit that.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 yeah, its too bad.. Shawn was supposed to be the next Flair too, but Flair is still "the next Flair" after all this time.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 In all honesty, I think the next Flair is Angle. Solid worker, has always been over (despite comic gimmicks like the current wig/headpiece deal), and can carry anybody to a decent match most of the time. However, if he runs around in drag, strips in mid-interview, or kneedrops beer cans, I will be very afraid.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 17, 2002 If he runs around in drag, strips mid interview or knee drops beer cans, there is a very good chance that Stephanie McMahon will have to put a restraining order on me.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Amen 'Sault. If that happens, then I'm going to have a nice new roided up INTENSE piniata hanging from the tree in my backyard.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 In all honesty, I think the next Flair is Angle. i agree on all counts. Personally I feel its better for a company to rebuild by having a heel champion during the rebuilding phase. someone who can male the aspiring faces look great, work his ass off, and be able to still show ass and draw heel heat.. now who fits that bill perfectly that they could have used in that position? Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I'll believe it when I see it. The WWE has gotten my hopes up too many times that one of my favorites was going to permanently break through that glass ceiling only to end up being disappointed when they eventually get shoved back down the card. Yeah, Steve Austin is gone. But if you look at the recent track record of WWE elevating new stars when old ones go away or are injured, it's pretty pathetic. That being said, Benoit, RVD, Guerrero and Booker need to be built up as the nucleus of RAW. They need to be placed on the same level as Vince, Flair, etc. Lesnar should be built up slowly. He's going to crash and burn if he's given a huge push right now and it's just going to hurt him in the long run. He'll become another one of those "tainted" guys. The idea of building your television show around a bunch of geriatrics and non-wrestlers is just assanine. Vince McMahon does not go on the road. Vince McMahon does not wrestle on PPV. Therefore, Vince McMahon should not be the star of the television show that sells PPV's and house shows. As for Smackdown, it's been said a million times, but Angle and Jericho (assuming they stick around) must be rebuilt immediately as legitimate threats. And it's rather obvious whose job it should be to rebuild them. Rock can put over Jericho another dozen times but no one is going to buy Jericho as a legitimate top guy until he finally gets a high profile win over Triple H. Edge is also a guy who should continue to get pushed when he returns. Yes, he has his faults, but I think he's showing improvement in his interviews and he's starting to get over with the crowd. After that it's a crapshoot. Just give people an oppurtunity and see who breaks out of the pack.
