Keith vs. Hyatte

Recommended Posts

Guest J*ingus

Okay, since Scott's no longer in power here, I guess it's safe to talk about stuff like this now.

Put simply, what the fuck is Hyatte's problem with SK?  In every Midnight News he's done over at 411 over the past month, he takes extensive time and effort to thoroughly demean and bury SK in every way possible.  Keith has stayed fairly cool in comparison, saying little, and thus comes off looking better of the two in my opinion.

So how did this thing start?  What did Keith do to piss of Hyatte, and vice-versa?  Why does poor Widro allow it on his website?  And on and on and on.

Ya know, someone really should write a book about the history of the IWC, covering the contributions Keith, Hyatte, Ryder, Scherer, Scaia, CRZ, Shannon, and all the rest, just so we'd know all the backstory about all this crap.

This is total hearsay on my part, but I believe that they've had a friendly rivalry for a few years, ever since they were both doing PPV recaps.  Keith made a remark about Hyatte's quality of work being the real reason he quit for a few months and now that they are both at 411, Hyatte is bitter about not only the comments that SK made, but the fact that SK is held in a higher regard on the site.

Then again...I could be wrong.

(looks at Dames' sub-title, "how long can those be?")

I have no idea, but I considered Keith to be much more entertaining until he started getting REALLY negative and started having his Comic Book dweebiness and Oz obsession show up. I really don't care what he thinks about non-wrestling forms of entertainment, or would rather hear his thoughts in a non-"I'm brilliant, or so I think, so I'm correct" tone.

Hyatte used to strike me as just chaotic to read, as if I was reading the ranting of a 15 year old with little grasp of English than just F words, but now he's MUCH more entertaining than Keith.

Granted, I still look forward to seeing Keith's rants, just to see how much less he likes shows than I do.

The SK hatred I see from some of the folks around here borders on the irrational. Take away his little quirks (which amuse me, anyway), and his opinions of the actual WWE product are just like the countless others here on the board. I have seen those that claim he often contradicts himself, but I've never read a convincing argument proving it.

Does it have anything to do with the way he, Botter, Becker, etc. ruled the old Smark board with an iron hand (to put it kindly)? I recall seeing some of that myself--I posted a handful of times on the old board under a different name, and noted that the mods use to be an unreasonably surly bunch, banning people with little provocation.

I suppose there is no one, single answer to this question. Since that is the case, let me just say this: Fuck Hyatte. How that overrated sack of shit manages to keep an audience astounds me. Scott Keith--bad haircut and all--is a class act compared to that mewling dipshit.

EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that Hyatte has so many supporters. Most of the IWC are dimwitted knobs; from Bob Ryder to the pathetic little trolls of the various message boards in cyberspace. Hyatte is at home here.

Yeah, but Hyatte seems alone in insulting his readers, and REALLY meaning it, and then smugly assuming that they'll all come back, and then turning out to be correct in that assumption.  How he does it, I have no idea, but my hat's off to him to accomplishing it.

I'd still like someone to write a history about the online community, starting with RSPW and continuing through Scoops, Rantsylvania, Scoopthis, Wrestleline, Onlineonslaught, Smarks, 411, LoP, DVDVR, 1Popup, and all the various others, so all us n00bs could find out how the hell we ended up here.

I don't dislike Scott Keith, but sometimes I dislike his delusions of grandeur. Sometime's it's cool to kid around, but it seems like Scott Keith's head got big somewhere along the line. I am guessing that's a reason why people dislike him. The reason why I don't dislike him is because I if he truly does have delusions of grandeur, he must be a sad, sad man. He writes about wrestling shows on the Internet. How do you get a big head from that?

Hyatte sucks compare to Sk. He makes lame jokes and acts like he is insane and I find none of that funny. Scott Keith on the other hand, writes his reports well and has jokes that I find funny. He is often accurate and truth telling. Not that I always agree with him but even if I don't he is right about some things.

I liked Scott Keith when I first stumbled upon thesmarks.com awhile back.  His reviews were funny, fair, and well written too.  Now his writing comes across as something he'd rather not be doing, like it's a chore to him.  He also seems to have his favorite guys to watch in the ring and anyone who isn't a favorite of his automatically gets a * rating or lower because he can'e be bothered to pat attention to the match going on.
