Make sure you get there early to get the best seats possible... and visit our website at www.californiachampionshipwrestling.com for all the details on this SUPER-EXCITING SHOW-- SUPER SLAM! Don't miss it! And here are the results after the show took place. There was one thing hotter than the action and the temperature on the eve of the one year anniversary show for California Championship Wrestling on Saturday Night-- and that was the FANS that were in attendance: All 395 of them, setting a CCW attendance record! The evening started out with a moving rendition of the National Anthem sung live by Olivia Gonzales...Then JJ Purdom welcomed the fans and told them about the special card they were about to witness that night-- including a huge announcement that CCW will now be broadcast in the bay area on Santa Rosa Based TV KFTY Channel 50 on Thursday nights at 1am (technically Friday Morning)...! But the celebration was short lived when the obnixious legal hack, Buddy Sotello Esquire and his cadre of miscreants, the Sotello Syndicate- Ryan "California Crippler" Drago, and DD & T-Rent BadApple of the BadApple Associates, brashly interrupted usually-jovial JJ and took the mic over. Buddy announced that the main event NOT featuring the Syndicate was a joke-- and that the REAL main event would feature the BadApple Associates taking the CCW Tag Team titles as a result of winning the tournament, and after they win the titles that the fans might as well go home. DD & Trent also told the fans of how nobody had a chance against them in the tournament. Drago then announced that he had beaten up so many people in CCW that nobody would face him that night at the one year anniversary show and what a shame it was. But that open challenge was short lived. As the curtains parted, the fiery lucha competitor that the fans couldn't live without, El Chupacabra, bounded through the curtain and snatched the mic away from a stunned Buddy! Chupy told the fans that he's back and ready to wrestle, but Buddy insisted that Chupy had no medical clearance...However Chupy presented a note to Buddy, who himself has always declared himself "master of the contract", but was flabbergasted to discover that he was indeed cleared to fight Drago later that night! Match 1 Drake "Hammerhead" Jones & R-Cayde vs Two Members of the Reno Scum Luster The Legend & Adam Thornstowe After the Syndicate finally exited the ring, the first round of the Inagural CCW Tag Team Title Tournament was under way. It was a clear mismatch between teams as the nerd-hating Drake "Hammerhead" Jones had to team up with the admittedly nerdly R-Cayde. These two mismatched overgrown high schoolers had to face the much more coordinated Reno Scum featuring Luster the Legend and Adam Thornstowe with Showtime Shane Dynasty in tow. The Reno Scum knew what they were doing in the ring, and the powerful Luster absolutely manhandled the usually dextrous but physically outmatched R-Cayde. R-Cayde received little emotional support from the normally-nerd-crushing Drake, who just could not get past his high school roots where he used to dunk guys like Cayde's head in the men's room instead of relying on him as a tag partner. In the end, Dynasty used the football that Drake normally takes with him to the ring, to toss to R-Cayde and in a case of instinctive reaction, it caused Drake to actually TACKLE his tag partner setting them up for the loss to the Scum! The Scum advanced while Drake chased R-Cayde out of the arena shouting "NERD NERD NERD" all the way! Winner and Moving on in the CCW Tag Title Tournament: The Reno Scum Luster the Legend and Adam Thornstowe Match 2: The Badapples W/ Buddy Sotello Esquire vs The McTwists Jason and Johnny The next match was the second round in the one-night special tag team tournament match! This match featured two diametrically physically opposite tag teams with something in common; twin brothers against fighting cousins! The street scene was in force as the BadApple Associates representing the Sotello Syndicate fought the McTwists-- Jason and Johnny. The fast pace of Jason and Johnny definitely kept the Badapples off their feet and for a short time, it seemed that an upset was in the making. However, the BadApples are both a veteran team with the special coordination that only twins can share-- and they also used their superior size and strength to counteract all the moves that the McTwists could throw at them, as impressive as some of them were. In the end, the extra training that Buddy has put forth with DD & T-Rent has obviously paid off in the form of a new maneuver, they call the Apple Tree Massacre or ATM for short-- involving a over the shoulder reverse power bomb combined with an assist by the other badapple, of which the devastation has to be seen to be believed. Pity poor Jason who had to bear the brunt of the ATM, because the match was over quickly after that... Winners and moving on in the CCW Tag Title Tournament to face the Reno Scum: The Badapples W/ Buddy Sotello Esquire Match 3: The Returning El Chupacabra vs "The California Crippler" Ryan Drago The next match featured a return to the ring of the high flying fan favorite El Chupacabra, or Chupy vs "California Crippler" Ryan Drago in another grudge feud culminating from months of rehab and agony...Chupy obviously was less interested in winning the match than he was trying to get revenge for the significant injury he took at the hands of Drago several months ago and gave him his nickname! Chupy assaulted Drago with hurricanrana after hurricanrana and although Drago's size and strength were significant factors in the match... Drago could not withstand the fury and fire of the latino competitor-- who surprisingly took a page out of Drago's book and attacked his knee! For the first time in a CCW ring, the fans saw true fear in the eyes of Drago who took the cowards way out and received a 10-count from the ref as he high-tailed it to the locker room never to return! The fans didn't care because they gave Chupy one of the best ovations of the night on his triumphant return to the CCW ring! Winner: El Chupacabra Match 4: For the CCW Westside Championship: Rik Luxury vs CCW Westside Champion Virgil Flynn in a 2 out 3 falls match The fans drew their breath as the first Title belt came up for grabs on this momentus one year annivesary show-- the West side title feud between the first CCW Westside champion Virgil Flynn vs "Wrestling Personified" Rik Luxury. Rik had attacked Virgil last match and convinced him to a 2-out-of 3 falls match for the title...And what a match it was. Virgil's fire and high flying style took early advantage over Rik, allowing the diminuative spark plug to get a 360 splash cannonball move on Rik in the corner off the top rope for the initial pin! However, Rik regrouped and showed he had a reason for asking for 2 of 3 falls, as he waited and baited Virgil to be able to wait for a weakness to show-- and he was able to do that by attacking the leg of Virgil and taking away his ability to jump and maneuver as he usually does. Without that advantage, Rik was able to get his first fall, and then the assault on the knee became total. At times, the knee/leg assault reminded the observer of Mr. Flair himself tearing the leg apart-- including the final move of slapping on a figure 4 which was too much for the spirited youngster Flynn... Rather than see his career be destroyed and face several months off like Chupy had to, Virgil faced the toughest decision of his career-- give up the title that he cherished so much to hated Rik Luxury, or lose his knee. He did the toughest, but smartest choice and regrettably submitted. An elated Rik Luxury embraced the title, his first "real" title reign since his one-night title stand against Big Ugly a few months ago that resulted in a shattered body and broken table a few minutes later... Winner and New CCW Westside Champion Rik Luxury Match 5: Mother Truckin' Otis vs "The British Messiah" Timothy Thatcher in a Hooligan Dog Collar Match After an excited intermission where a hot and energized crowd scarfed down super-dogs, super nachos and as much water and soda as they could consume in 15 minutes, one of the most highly anticipated feuds in CCW came to a head against each other as Mother Truckin Otis faced the only man who has beaten him so far in CCW, British Messiah Timothy Thatcher and his manservant, Lord William, but in no ordinary match-- a HOOLIGAN DOG COLLAR match! In a CCW first, both competitors were locked together with 16' of galvanized steel chain. There was nowhere to run for either competitor although the nefarious Lord William of course was a thorn in the side of the Elvis-emulating big man from Branson, Mo...The two of them wasted no time in using the chain on each other, but Thatcher used the chain as a pair of brass knuckles, wrapping them around his fist and opening up a huge gash in the mother trucking one. Otis even had his hands full with the terrible William who even bashed Otis's crimson mask with the teapot he brings on a cart to ringside... Although bloodied and bandied about by the battling brit, Otis drew strength from the hundreds of screaming children at ringside to turn the tables on the lousy Limeys and got his world-famous "Gotter Dun" slam on Thatcher and then used the chain to hog tie him up for the pin! Otis continued to take out the trash by whalloping the hapless William and used the Snot Rag claw to put the final touches on the wimpering simp known as Lord William! Winner: Mother Truckin' Otis Match 6; The Final Match in the CCW Tag Title Tournament The Badapples w/ Buddy Sotello Esquire vs The Reno Scum members of Luster The Legend and Adam Thornstowe. The finals of the tag team title tournament happened next, with Luster, Adam and Shane as the Scum facing off against the BadApples. While Buddy was gabbing away in the booth with JJ for the highly rated Comcast TV Broadcast (rated #2 on the OnDemand ratings for May), he was missing out on the chance to assure his legacy by being ringside with his team as they faced their toughest challenge. It actually proved to be too much temptation for Buddy who did decide to come out of the commentary booth to ringside and tried to give his men the edge-- including the risky move of grabbing Luster the Legend's boot as he ran across the ring to attack T-Rent... Luster bailed to the outside and grabbed the interloping manager by the throat and proceeded to choke the life out of him. Using this as a distraction to get Adam's attention to the outside and with Shane and the ref tangling each other up, DD grabbed Adam from behind and rolled him up into a small package with enough leverage to hold him down for the 1-2-3 count! The crowd of course was stunned and so was Buddy who was dunked awake by Shane Dynasty throwing an entire cooler of ice cold water on the unconscious New Yorker... But despite the humiliating circumstances of the cooler-dunk, Buddy turned out to be the big winner as his Syndicate dreams were finally realized in a culmination of a pair of leather-clad gold symbols of a year's worth of effort, defeat and sacrifice, if not to mention plenty of cheating, back stabbing and rule-breaking to get the coveted CCW tag team titles! Winners and the FIRST EVER CCW Tag Team Champions The Badapples w/ Buddy Sotello Esquire. And then the match that would change CCW destiny forever-- the match that so much had built up behind it; Who would the fans root for? Who would become the new champion? How would the friendship of the two greatest friends that CCW had ever seen, the bond between two men as close as brothers, Vinnie Massaro and Big Ugly, survive the challenge of the most coveted title in indy wrestling today, the CCW Heavyweight title, would come between them? Match 7 and it's the Main Event for the California Championship Wrestling Title: The CCW Champion The Big Ugly JD Biship vs Vinnie Massaro. The fans were TRULY divided between the two colossal competitors! Fans were chanting Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie as the valant challenger showed no signs of slowdown in the ring after rehabbing the broken hand he suffered only a couple of short months ago. Big Ugly showed that it was hard for him to use all of his force and killer instinct that he was known for against his good friend. It was almost as if both wrestlers knew each other so well that it was impossible for either of them to gain an advantage. Nobody in the arena knew what would change the tide of the match or swing the momentum either way... Until the curtains parted... First Ryan Drago came out with a chair and jumped up to the ring apron, motioning for one of the wrestlers to throw the other one into the chair-- but which one??? Before the fans could find out, Chupy came from out of the back and chased the interloping Drago to the back... Vinnie and Big ugly continued to battle each other, until their combat got so intense that both them and the ref were knocked flat. Out came the BadApples to turn the tables on one of the wrestlers, but again before they could change what was going on in the ring, the Reno Scum interrupted them and sent them sprawling outside the front of the arena and into the park area on the side of the FDES hall! Finally the two competitors struggled to regain their footing while ref Toby was still unconscious. At that moment, the massive Mr. Massacre who had been missing for so many months, chose to use that time as the WORST time to make a terrible return to the ring by delivering the devastating Massacre Slam on a stunned Big Ugly. An exhausted Vinnie had his arm placed on top of him by the hooded assasin and the ref Toby groggily counted to 3, making Vinnie the first repeat heavyweight champion in CCW history, and regaining the title...A stunned crowd was not sure what to think, but soon had its answer when Buddy raised Vinnie's hand and Vinnie grabbed the belt and backstabbed Big Ugly instead of showing any display of good sportsmanship in front of the dispirited fans... A veritable travesty of justice had ensued as friend became foe, and a sacred trust between men who were closer than family was torn asunder. Et Tu Vinnie? All for a title? There was no sign of regret in Vinnie's eyes as the rest of the Syndicate came out to accept their latest charge to their ranks and bully the deflated fans. However, their control of the evening was not total, for the Scum had the presence of mind to come back to ringside and chase the celebrating Syndicate out of the ring! However the Syndicate continued to taunt the fans, the Scum and anyone within earshot and viewing distance as they displayed their newly-won tltles in front of everyone, demanding that the fans respect them as "Gods"...The evening ended with booing fans hearing a spiteful "Happy Birthday to CCW" wish from Buddy Sotello, whose Syndicate now controls all the major titles in CCW...How long will the Syndicate's control over CCW last? Scroby 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 The show happen last Saturday and it was a great show. The Wrestling action was great, the building was jam-packed and the fans were hot all night long. Here are the results from the show. CCW and the 145 fans in attendance on Saturday night will never forget the day that they stepped inside the new CCW studios for an evening of pulse-pounding action! To begin with, the standing-room only fans gave an ear-splitting ovation to CCW Announcer JJ Purdom as he told the fans of the upcoming evening's card-- only to be interrupted again by the bullying CCW Heavyweight & Tag Team champions, Vinnie Massaro & The BadApple Associates accompanied by Buddy Sotello Esq.! Exclaiming to the "Newman Inhumans" that he "wears their scorn as a badge of honor", Buddy was basically drowned out by the fans cheers when Big Ugly showed up to cut short their in-ring diatribe. Big Ugly said that he was going to make Vinnie pay for what he had done to him at Super Slam in July, and to take over where he left off! Big Ugly had to be escorted back to the locker room by ringside security! Buddy then went to the commentator's booth to work with JJ as the first match came to the ring. The New Mortis, accompanied by his Paul-Bearer style manager, I believe his name was Gene, horrified the children with his early halloween-style visage! However the fans were back on their feet cheering when they saw hometown hero from the valley, Mike Rayne, who had the strangest stuff written on his body when he took off his ring jacket! The match was absolutely as solid as you would get for an opening-- Mortis showing tremendous power moves such as swinging neckbreakers, vertical suplexes and viscious slams. Rayne countered with his well known high flying heel kicks, top rope moves and above all, his ability to absorb a lot of punishment! In the end, Mike Rayne and the powers of good prevailed over evil when Mike's death drop from the 3rd rope proved to be too much for Mortis's otherworldly skills! The following match featured Brownsnake Jesus Kruz against Tenaciously Tan Tim Anderson, a spirited young athlete whose last match against Mr. Massacre proved to be so challenging that he took several months off to recover from the injuries from the Massacre Slam he took! Kruze was unmoved by the courageous comeback efforts of Tim, and when he was done taunting the fans of CCW, proceeded to assault Tim in various powerful ways. Kruz was particularly effective in working Tim's back, which was the area that had suffered the most injury. However, all of Kruz's scouting on Tim was beginning to fail as Tim mounted a powerful comeback, elbowing his way out of a brutal bearhug submission and slamming Kruz to the mat. However, Tim picked up the big Brownsnake and flung him into the corner, where rookie Referee Byron was completely out of position, and got avalanched for his inexperience! With Ref Byron writhing on the mat in agony, Kruz took the hubcap that he brought with him to the ring and WHAM, dented it on the back of poor Tim's skull as he tried to revive the ref. With Tim lying prone on the canvas, Kruz picked up his very first victory with CCW-proving that victory in CCW can be acheived by anyone with the skill, ability and desire-- to knock out the ref and use a foreign object on their competitor! The BadApples were next to come to ringside, to be the sole title defense for the night's card although they were only prepared to fight in solo competition! Their first title challenge would come at the hands of two of the winningest men in CCW- Showtime Shane Dynasty and Mother Truckin Otis! Shane came to ringside wearing a kilt and as flamboyant as ever, while Mother Truckin Otis had to make his way past parents holding their children up to shake hand with the massive Missourian! Ref Toby could barely contain the 4 massive men in the ring, and soon mayhem was unleashed inside the comfy confines of the brand new CCW studios! While Buddy shouted instructions to the BadApples from the commentary booth (something no doubt JJ appreciated!) The BadApples had more than their hands full with the trucker and the punker, and this writer believes a good portion of the audience was sure that they were all going to witness a 1 and done for the BadApples in their very first title defense! However, T-rent (or was it D-Unit???) grabbed one of the title belts, and sneaked around one side of the ring where Shane reached to pick him up and back into the mat, when Ref Toby (who was distracted by outside action going on between D-Unit-- or was it T-Rent...And Otis) missed the clobbering that Shane took on the forehead from the belt! He did turn around in time however, to get the 3 count on the knocked out Shane! T-Rent and D-Unit high fived each other while Otis saw to his fallen compatriot, and then high tailed it out of there in order to avoid the wrath of the trucker! After Shane was revived by Otis, the two of them showed that there were no hard feelings and who knows, we could see this powerful tag team join forces again soon! I had a feeling the next match had the potential to be the match of the night, and in this writer's opinion, it was-- featuring British Messiah Timothy Thatcher with Lord William against El Chupacabra! Thatcher wasted no time targeting Chupy's left hand and wrist, and assaulted it with a variety of brutal techniques! Chupy responded with his ever-famous Hurricanrana and amazing aerial tactics which have acheived him such renown throughout Northern California and everywhere where he has wrestled! The tremendous back-and-forth finally came to a head when Thatcher placed Chupy into the corner for a Tree of Woe maneuver, and as he ran across the ring in order to smash Chupy into submission, Chupy (in an amazing display of abdominal and leg strength) lifted himself up out of the corner, out of the way of Thatcher and then was able to drop behind Thatcher and into a reverse DDT guillotine move! The crowd was both stunned and amazed as much as Thatcher and William were-- and Chupy wrapped up the wiry Brit for a major victory! A battle of very different high school heroes sqaured up as former tag-team partners, the Human Video Game R-Cayde faced up against "5-Touchdowns-In-One-Game" Drake "Hammerhead" Jones. The massive Drake wasted no time pounding the wily videogame jockey with powerful lift moves and a swing-over backbreaker and submission move that seemed to have R-Cayde on the verge of giving up. But just when it looked like the gaming-lad's life power meter was reaching critical, he pulled out wrestling's version of a power-up; As Drake lifted up R-Cayde for what seemed a final slam that would finish the match, R-cayde used his leverage to roll up Drake in a very clever and tight small package which the husky gridiron vet could not get out of fast enough, allowing ref Guido to award R-Cayde with the match. And proving that R-Cayde is really as smart as he says he is-- he high tailed it out of the ring and even out of the building to avoid the rampaging bad loser, Drake as he stormed outside looking for the victorious gamer! The fans were ready for the main event, and it was hardly a disappointment! Big Ugly and Rock Legend Scum Adam Thornstowe squared off against Vinnie Massaro and Rik Luxury, and while no title was on the line that night, sometimes a message can be sent without anything metallic being at stake-- and this was the case. Neither Adam nor Big Ugly need to have a belt involved in order to hand out punishment to their hated rivals, Rik and Vinnie! Vinnie seemed to know this (maybe a little bit of additional schooling by Buddy?) and let Rik take most of the punishment by Ugly and Adam...While it seemed like clear strategy from Rik and Vinnie to isolate their punishment on Adam, making him take the brunt of the attacks and taunting, even spitting on Big Ugly, in order to get him to enter the ring...Only to be forced back into his corner by Ref Guido! However, those rule breaking tactics could only keep Big Ugly and Adam down for so long, and soon Vinnie and Rik found themselves in a tough spot-- including suffering a dangerous diveout in by Adam in those close confines in the studios! In the end, Big Ugly returned part of the indignity he suffered in July by scoring the big win over Rik and Vinnie-- but it wasn't enough for any of the 4 men involved-- and after the match was over, chaos ensued as the BadApples came out and tried to even the odds along with Shane Dynasty! Shane even came into the commenator's booth and pummeled Buddy and took away the CCW belt from him and laid it out in the ring as an open challenge to the Syndicate! As all the fans could plainly see, the feud between Vinnie, Big Ugly, Rik Luxury, Adam Thornstowe and the rest of the Syndicate and the Reno Scum is heating up like NEVER BEFORE! What will be the next twist in this intense saga of combat? Find out when CCW holds its next matches in the CCW Studios on SATURDAY OCTOBER 27th, 2007! Find out details at www.californiachampionshipwrestling.com and continue to join us as we SLAM OUR WAY ACROSS CA! One small correction to the results, Guido was the Ref for the Mother Truck'in Otis & Shane Dynasty vs The Badapples match and I (Ref. Toby) was the Ref for R-cayde vs Drake "Hammerhead" Jones.
