Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 I know there is a large contingent of us who aren't to fond of the Giants in the sports. Wrestlers who use Size instead of Skill and such must be crap. So take two Giants and compare them Andre the Giant and the Big show both WWF 7 foot 500 giants. Andre the Giant for most of us who watched him, was Slow and performed simple power moves, which every sold like they were hit by Boulders.. And They should have, Anyone who complains about selling to Andre the Giant at the time should have been fired on the spot. Andre at the time was In Constant Pain in the ring, because of his own Giant body. He limps out there and did his best to entertain and did. in the final stretch of his career and life, He played the Proverbal Goliath to every man he faced, Hogan, Warrior, Jake Roberts, Demolition.. Andre put over everyone after losing to Hogan in big events. With few exceptions. His Sacrifice to his body and health in hopes to make the other guy look good, at his age Size and weight... That made him the best big man in the business, not for what he could do in the ring but what he was to the boys in the back, "The Boss" Big Show.. similar Size, though He is more Muscularly Proportional. Big Show got more Manuevablity, he can lift his opponents over his head. He is actually quicker, and we known he made those mistakes in Going off the top rope. Big Show works in any match, and in example of tag matches, Big Show can go in and out of the ring to perform more frequently than Andre. With the advantages the Big Show had compared to Andre he should be more favorable, plus given he is even younger. than what we saw Andre. But Most on here kinda thinks -*** everytime we see Big Show Lumber down to the ring. Im sure despite the memory of Andre there are people who would denounce him as well because of his poor health age and skill when they probably seen him. but why do you think Big Show gets a bad wrap as a Giant wrestler? Guest Ace309 Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Just my opinion... I think Big Show gets a bad wrap because he's basically rehashing Andre's style. Big Show has put on a lot of weight recently, not all of it useful. He goes out and squashes two legitimate athletes at a time (and here I'm thinking specifically of Richards and Credible - okay, I'm an oldschool ECW mark), but the only thing that really sets him apart from Andre is the chokeslam and slightly more maneuverability. Meanwhile, Andre came into the sport when his schtick wasn't dead. Big Show is one in a long, long line of "giants," whereas Andre was THE definitive giant. It's been put on every giant since Andre to make himself stand out. Big Show just hasn't done that yet, imho.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Show looked a good deal thinner last night than he did two years ago. That does not say much. I thought he was a bit smaller than Andre though? Because I remembered during his WWF debut someone mentioned he was slightly smaller than Andre was which would be a good thing as it means he'd be less likely to die real early of heart problems. Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 The biggest difference between Andre and Show was Andre's natural charisma. Andre just seemed like a really nice cool guy even when he was eating some poor jobber's very soul. Big Show just comes off like a dull bastard named Paul. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted June 18, 2002 i honestly don't hate show that much. He does need to lose LOTS of weight for his own good, and his ridiculous expense is only vince's fault. Vince signed mark henry to a 10 year contract before he had even had the chance to suck. He doesn't have andre's charisma, but he's marketable, can cut a promo well enough, comes across great when out of character and should be out of the nwo, in a tag team with some little guy opening each ppv and getting the hot tag at the end. Tried n tested. When he did that for a few months last year he was more over than he's ever been. But yes, he NEEDS to lose weight above all.
