"CM Punk's run of consecutive weekends spent wrestling probably has ended with a head injury suffered at the Jersey J Cup - Version 3.0 last weekend in Elizabeth, N.J.

Punk, working against Reckless Youth, hurt himself executing a second-rope reverse crossbody block into a blockbuster neckbreaker. Punk tucks it in the air and flips into a blockbuster on the reverse crossbody. He landed on his head in this case. It was a quarterfinal match in a tournament won by Reckless Youth. Reckless beat American Dragon in the finals.

Punk finished the match, but then was hospitalized.

Punk's streak of consecutive weekends worked is said to be nearing 100. He did not miss a weekend in 2001, and still has yet to miss a weekend this year. Punk's next shows are scheduled for Saturday at MidAmerican Wrestling in Wisconsin and June 29 at 3PA is Philadelphia, but on his website those days are now highlighted with an asterisk, saying he may not appear because of his injury. Those close to Punk say it's a serious injury, but the extent is not known.

Punk plans a commentary on his website soon to address the situation.

Punk beat Billy Reil in the first round of the 16-man tournament. Colt Cabana also reached the quarterfinals. He beat Damian Dragon in the first round, then lost to AJ Styles in the quarterfinals.

Locally, Punk appeared headed for a long-awaited showdown with Acid in the Lunatic Wrestling Federation. They teamed up in a tag match at LWF's last show, but they couldn't coexist and scuffled in what could be the beginning of a feud. The injury doesn't necessarily end that, but it could affect any timetable set"

Hope Punk can get back to 100%. He is a great young talent.

I was at the Jersey J-Cup show and Punk landed HARD. He had to use a chair to crutch himself back to the locker room, and he walked right by me and looked legitimately scared and confused of where he actually was and he was drooling a lot. He sat behind the curtain for a good hour before paramedics came and took him out.

He took a helluva beating and still put on one hell of a show for us fans in Jersey!! Three cheers for CM PUNK!!
