Heels vs. Faces?

Recommended Posts

It seems to me that most of our active roster are heels. So far, unless I'm missing something, for faces we have Johnny Dangerous, Wildchild, Chris Fury, and a couple of tweeners. Is this an issue for booking purposes? Do we need more faces? Or is this really a nonissue, and I'm showing my newbage by worrying about it?

It's also a matter of how you want to write things. For example, if Toxxic's going up against another heel I have a tendency to make him into a pseudo-face for the match, partly because it's pleasant to play the other side for a change (as long as you can do it without totally altering the character for one match only), and justify it through his high charisma rating and flashy style making him the more appealing of the two options. Unless of course we're in my opponent's hometown, in which case they're de facto face.

In general, I'd say a BUTT-kicking, no-nonsense heel (in the mold of Benoit) would probably get a more favourable reaction than a sneaky, cheating one. Ditto for a huge monster. Someone like Flesher would be skilled enough at working the crowd and have enough genuine in-ring talent to impress anyone, so in a battle of two heels he'd probably get the crowd reaction (if he wanted it).

At the end of the day, this is our own fed and we write everything. If we want to write the crowd going nuts for a heel vs heel match-up, we can. I have in the past, on the rationale that whatever happens, someone they hate is going to get hurt. But you can run the logic of a 'smarky' crowd picking the better worker to support, or give the better-looking heel a female fanbase for that night, or whatever.

Gotcha. I just noticed the alignments and wondered if it was a problem. If it's not a big deal, I won't worry about it.
