Tell me he didn't just say that!

From Wrestling Observer:

On Tajiri's Japanese language web site, he said that he's been checking out Rey Misterio Jr. and his work is a far higher level than Billy Kidman, but he said that he thought the best cruiserweight in WWE was X-Pac.

He thinks the best cruiserweight in WWE is X-Pac?  WTF?  Please tell me that this is a mistranslation.  I don't think Pac is nearly as bad as people make him out to be.  But "best cruiserweight in WWE"?  Sure, he's entitled to his opinion and all.  But come on!  That's so messed up it's not even funny.  If he really did say that, Tajiri must be basing this solely on his matches with Pac, which weren't half bad.  Either that or he's been hit in the head too many times.

On a more positive note, Kidman is an awesome cruiserweight.  So if what Tajiri said is true, and Rey Misterio Jr. is better than Kidman, I can't wait for him to debut on TV!

Rey used to be amazing. Haven't seen him lately, but I'm waiting to.

Yeah but how many crusierweights are there in the WWF (excluding Tajiri)?

Tajiri must have smoked some of X-Pac's weed, because quite honestly, X-Pac sucks now.

Lots.  I would list the Hurricane, Jamie Knoble, and Billy Kidman as the most talented cruiserweights in the WWE right now.  I haven't seen Rey Jr. lately so I can't comment on him but hopefully  he hasn't turned himself into what X-Pac became when arriving.

Best Cruiser in the WWF right now? Kurt Angle. APPARENTLY he meets weight requirements and he doesn't wrestle the shitty "cruiser style"

Edit: Just so you know, someone on this board tolde me he meets weight, so if I'm wrong, it's not my fault. :)

I agree, Tajire must be trying to stay on the Cliq's good side.  A possible sign as to the coming tides?  Does Tajire know that the Cliq is taking over?  I think so!  Join with me, fellow conspiracy theorists!

Personally, I don't think he's as good as he was before he bulked up (although he's still very, very good).  But honestly, he pretty much HAD to gain some weight and slow down his offense if he still wants to be able to walk in ten years.

Just because they may do better highspots than someone doesn't make someone a better cruiserweight. There's Kidman, Helms and X-Pac. Knoble hasn't really done much yet and so I wouldn't count him. Out of those guys that Tajiri has faced, his best matches have been with X-Pac.

Wasn't Rey considered up there with Benoit as the best perfomer in the world at one point?

Well, I just rewatched the Rey vs. Eddy Havoc '97 match, and both of them looked like two of the best in the world.

I preferred Tajiri's Backlash and Velocity matches with Kidman to his series with X-pac, though those weren't bad, either.

I thought Angle was teetering around that weight, but I wouldn't have thought he'd actually make the weight.

Last I checked, the WWE website lists Angle at 220, but on tv he's always announced as being 237, which would put him over the cruiser limit.

What can I say, this made my day.  First Michaels compliments Pac, now Tajiri two of the finest wrestlers ever.  I will not sit here and say Pac is the best cruiserweight right now, he used to be, and can still be again if motivated.  If Mondays match and this comment are any indication, I will continue to be impressed by u guys becoming more accepting of Pac.  Obviously he is a great worker or someone of Tajiris stature would not salute him. He isnt the best but he is good.

Is the cruiser limit the same as the old WWF LHW limit of 215lbs? Or is it 230lbs and under?

Hey can anyone give me the link to Tajiri's website? I want to put it through Babelfish to see exactly what he's saying. And as for the comment, he might be referring to X-Pac's career as a whole, not just his current ability.

Chavo's top dog in that division. No one is better rudo than him except his uncle.

Rey can be very good, especially when matched up against a strong heel. It depends how healthy.

Besides Kidman, Knoble, and Hurricane, there's also Funaki who is an excellent straight-forward, no nonsense wrestler.

Shitty because you don't understand it?

X-pac isn't a bad wrestler at all, just lazy & unmotivated a lot of the time. If Tajiri thinks that he is the best, well then that's his opinion. He would know better than I would seeing as how he has worked with him before. From a fan's point of view, I'm most entertained by Christian, whom I still consider a cruiserweight/light heavyweight even if the WWE doesn't.

I thought the weight requirements for a cruiser were 215-225 pounds and less. I think Kurt has got to be at least 250 pounds.

Last time I checked, I think Kurt was 240.

He was 235 when he won the WWF Championship. He's one of the smallest, lightest guys to ever be WWF Champ, I think.

^_^ The WWE site lists him as 6'2", 220 pounds.

So according to that source, AS is right.

Actually Xpac is one of the most liked wrestlers in the back. The guys say he is very easy to work with in the ring.

I thought 215 was the cut off. It was in 1997 for the innagural tournament.

They may have moved up the weight limit since then, but officially 215 was the original weight limit.

The WWE itself probably doesn't know/care what it is anyways.
