Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted June 20, 2002 But the again it wasnt great. Its like this, competition for the WWE, no, But an alternative to the WWE, yes. I think thats all most of us can ask for right. The matches themselves werent all that terrible, it wasnt even the production value that bothered me. It was just the fact of seeing a Racially toned storyline being put into place between K-Krush and Brian Cristopher. That was one of the last things i expected to see outta this conservative wrestling group. But then again, its based outta the south.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted June 20, 2002 You're right it didn't suck. It was just... well... almost a bad WCW Thunder. I really enjoyed seeing JJ, Joel Gertner, and others that the WWE hadn't picked up. I also really enjoyed how Tenay kept putting the history of the wrestlers over. And Toby Keith was impressive... Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 next week is Lynn vs. Styles vs. Lowki vs. Psicosis round robin for the X title. If I'm not mistaken they tape this tonight too... So if the reports indicate it is as good as it should be...I'll be ordering the next one. Oh and Hall vs. JJ too...and I like JJ so it goes in the plus cloumn too I guess. Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 20, 2002 As long as we get some kind of North American wrestling alternative to the lackluster WWE, I'm happy with that. From what I heard, it didn't sound like too bad of a first ppv. Now all they have to do is just find that Steve Austin guy.....
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I just realized that at 10 dollars a week (40 bucks a mocth) you get 8 hours of wrestling. And for only 5 dollars less with the WWE you get only 3... and HHH and Taker are still main eventing....
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 For someone who saw the PPV....I thought it was great. There were some bad parts, I'll admit, but nothing worse than WWE has done in the last year. I saw it at a friends place and he said he's definitely going to order it next week. Dames
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I have mixed feeling towards it. the 6 man was great although was a cluster fuck because there was no official restraining either of the illegal men in the ring to leave and get pinfalls. the johnsons looked like fat conquistadors but their match with Psicosis/Storm was decent. I dont rate midgets cause im a scott keith mark, lol. the York/Matthews vs. hillbillies match was, ok and the Royal rumble coulda been better by having someone KNOWN face Shamrock in the end, not this skinny as 6'9" nobody who i never heard of. BTW who was Slash in WWF? (i think Tenay said he was in WWF once)
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 20, 2002 You do know the "skinny as 6'9" nobody" Malice even if you don't realize it, he used to be The Wall. Slash is the alter ego of Wolfie D, one half of PG-13 and former Nation of Domination white boy rapper.
Guest Report post Posted June 20, 2002 It could have been worse, it could have been the WOW PPV.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 The booking of the Wall vs. Shamrock was a great move IMO. Save all your money matches for later...elavate a guy who seems to have a chance and thats a good move. I need for next week to have a Corino match and something with that Apollo guy...then I'm all over ordering it.
Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted June 20, 2002 That skinny man was The Wall and the man who wrestled as Slash was i believe Damien Demento? Am i wrong? The Midgets totally rocked Women werent all that bad, just kinda there. Elektra needs a haircut, hippie! The six man tag was great. lol@Flying Elvis's!!!!! Also, Its really cool to see that The Wall (Malice) has lost alot of wieght. Maybe this can be sumthin along the bounds of WCW July-August 2000 (which didnt suck!) Guest Shadow Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I agree with what most of you have said in this thread: It wasn't excellent, but it was good, and it was, most importantly, different from the WWE. Nice to have an alternative that will at least be around for a little while every week, and well worth what they are charging. Especially since some of the match styles (the cruiser match especially) are so different from the "WWE style" that everyone in the promotion is forced to conform to, it does give it a bit of a different feel. And I agree with you BPS, very smart move in having the last match Shamrock-Malice, save the money matches for later. Mainly, it's just nice to see my favorite non-WWE wrestlers (Jeff Jarrett, Steve Corino, Jerry Lynn, Scott Hall) back on my TV screen, so I'm going to keep on ordering these shows as long as they stay decent, if for no other reason than to see those four. By the way- the announcing, besides Don West's annoying (and luckily, sparse) comments, was much better than I expected it to be. Mike Tenay, while a little overly-excited-sounding at certain points, was a great PBP man, and Ed Ferrea has a very good voice for color commentary and did a good job for his first night out. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 20, 2002 THATS THE WALL?!!?!?!? HOLY SHIT HE GOT SMALLER.
Guest The Unknown Jobber Report post Posted June 20, 2002 It could have been worse, it could have been the WOW PPV. The six man was the only thing worth watching really, the rest kind of sucked.
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I don;t buy ppv, I steall them so I will continue to watch on wed. MY friends who I saw it will and I all agreed it was better than raw this week. The 6 man was a nice spot fest, and the main event surprised me in a good way. With a little better production ( so you can hear the music distinctly) and consistent writing, I might watch this instead of the wwe. First night in and they elevate the wall to main event, wwe can;t elevate anyone. Anyway good show, definitly catching the next one. --Rob
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I don't know if having all of your shows on PPV is such a good idea.
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted June 20, 2002 Well no, but it would have been much harder for them to get a TV deal I think, and this way they are going to make some money. The more money they make the better the product is likely to be and the more buys they can get. As long as they get some fans to kick things off they should be fine. And it is only $10. Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 Slash is AKA Wolfie D from the PG-13. He and JC Ice (Jamie Dundee) were in the Nation of Domination for a little while.
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I thought this ppv was good though not great. My goodness, "Malice" is the Wall from WCW? All I kept thinking was "who is this nasty, slimy thing in the ring?" Malice needs to work on getting a better tan. Anywhoo, the wrestling was good and it is a nice alternative to WWF. However, I don't know how successfull they will be since their product is offered exclusively on ppv. I won't buy every ppv, only a few.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I didn't order it because I get the Dish network, and Dish ain't carrying it. It's not that I'm kicking myself over missing the show (I probably wouldn't have ordered it even if Dish did carry the program), but it irks me that I don't have the opportunity. Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted June 20, 2002 Hey, do any tape traders have it yet? Could anyone give a list of the matchs, times, and winners? I'm just currious about this whole thing. Problem is, i cant get PPV (hence my first question) but still want to see this thing.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I have a rant on the show in the Smark Krew. I think that should help if you decide whether or not to trade for it.
