NWATNA: Total Nonstop Action

June 19, 2002

-From the heart of Alabama.

-Opening "pyro"s. Don West, Ed Ferarra (who looks Jamaican) and Mike Tenay introduce themselves to bring commentary to tonight's event.

-The Legends of the NWA are introduced. "Handsome" Harley Race, Dory Funk Jr., Jackie Fargo, Bob Armstrong, Corsica Joe, Sarah Lee, Bill Behrens, and Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat. Jeff Jarrett soon crashes the party and has fighting words with Fargo, then out comes Ken shamrock who has words for Jarrett. Fargo makes Jarrett enter #1 and now Scott Hall makes his grand entrance in the crowd with a Hey Yo.

-Some bitch is with Midget Wrestler, Puppet. Puppet rambles about nothing and I basically don't care for Midgets.

-Caged Dancers! WOOOOO!

-Opening Match:

Jerry Lynn, A.J. Styles, Low Ki Vs. The Flying Elvis Impersonators (Sonny Siaki, Jimmy Yang, Jorge Estrada):

Everyone brawls to start. Double drop-kicks and a hurricanrana by Styles. Lynn with a cross body off the top rope and Ki with a pescado. Styles with a powerslam on Yang for 2. Yang with a leg lariat for 2. Lynn fights out of a cross body with a forearm and tags out to Lynn. Tilit-a-whirl backbreaker for 2. NEXT WEEK! Pciscosis/Low Ki/Jerry Lynn/AJ Styles in a round robin tournament for the X title. Lynn with a big boot and tornado DDT is blocked and Yang with an enziguri. Yang tags out to Siaki and he scores a stiff right to Lynn. Lynn with an Irish whip and flying head scissors and standing bulldog for 2. Low Ki in and he chops at Siaki. Neckbreaker by Siaki for 2. Low Ki with a crescent kick and walks into a Siaki backbreaker for 2. Estrada in now. Siaki with a Samoan drop and Estrada with a moonsault for 2. Estrada sets Ki on the top rope and comes down with a neckbreaker and a standing moonsault for 2. Ki with a drop-kick to the knee and kicks to the midsection and a BIG kick to the face ALA Tajiri. AJ Styles with the tag and Yang. Both men miss kicks and Styles connects with a body press and standing reverse DDT for 2. Belly to back suplex is blocked and Yang catches a leg lariat for 2. Low Ki backdrops Yang to the apron and cartwheel kicks him. Estrada with a powerbomb like hold for 2. Lynn in with a piledriver to Estrada and Siaki nails him with a twisting neckbreaker. Styles in with a crescent kick. Low Ki misses a karate kick and nails Styles. Yang to the top rope and scores a moonsault for 3 at 6:25. Hot match. ***1/2.

-Hollywood Vs. Teo:

Hollywood attacks to start and Teo nails him with a something. Hollywood eats buckle then gets some chops to the chest and a headbutt to the groin. Teo with the 10 punches of doom and then makes him imitate sucking him off. Hollywood catches Teo and powerslams him for 2. Teo with a rollup for 2. Hollywood up and scores a lariat. He goes all the way to the bottom, rope, no top rope and nails a version of the frog splash. Teo fights back and connects with a stiff Russian leg sweep. Teo to the top rope and he comes down with a twisting elbow drop for the win at 2:48. 1/4* for the hilarity.

-West & Ferarra announce the ladies for next weeks battle royal. Francine (eat a burger please), Ms. Joanie, Dafney, Alexis, Sasha, Aaron (?), Elektra, Taylor (?) Vaughn, Terresa something. Francine and Elektra have a small fight and thats all thats interesting.

-Mortimer Plumtree gives a VERY Disturbing interview about his proteges The Johnsons. No they ain't Tiny.

-The Johnson's (w/ Mortimer Plumtree) Vs. Psicosis & "Cowboy" James Storm:

the Johnson's look like fat conquistadors. Psicosis starts with Johnson #1. Johnson with a double underhook suplex for 2. Snap Suplex gets another 2 count. Psicosis off the ropes and nails a spinning heel kick to Johnson #1 then an enziguri on #2. Storm off the top rope with a missile drop-kick on #2. Some hotty shows up in the aisle (Alicia or Felicia?) Johnson #2 in with Storm and he hammers on him. Hammerlock takeover on Storm and throws him over the ropes only to have Storm come in and connect a bulldog. Psicosis in with a drop-kick to the face but Johnson #1 ends him.the Johnson's with a flap jack on Psicosis. Johnson's sends Psicosis from pillar to post and scores a belly to belly suplex. Both Johnson's in with a double shoulderblock. Johnson whatever goes for a powerbomb but Psicosis reverses with an X-Factor like move. Storm in a ha hammers both men. Hurricanrana to one of them and a crescent kick to the other. Both Johnson's fight back with a double over head belly to belly suplex. Storm with a roll up on 1 of them for 2 . Storm gets tripped up by Plumtree and Johnson with a TKO for the win at 4:51. * just a match to put over the brothers fat. the Referee then gets hustled by the woman and he gives her a wad of money.

-The lady interviewer from earlier runs into the Dupps and their Cousin/Girl Friend. Stan Dupp and Bo Dupp.

-Some NASCAR losers come out to do nothing. K-Krush (playing heel) confronts them. Brian Christopher, decked out as Grand Master Sexay, comes out for the rescue and challenges Krush to a match next week. If I wanted that match I would have watched Jakked more often.

-Christian York & Joey Matthews Vs. The Dupps (w/ Fluff Dupp)

Hillbillies suck. End of Story. Dupps attack to start and double team Matthews. Flap Jack by the Dupps, and Bo picks a wedgie. York with a drop-kick to both men and York hammers on Stan. Double boot by York/Matthews and a snap suplex for 2. Stan ducks a clothesline and scores a full nelson neck breaker. Bo in and he hammers Matthews. Joey with a series of rights but runs into a big boot and gets nailed with a splash for 2. Stan with a boot to the midsection but gets caught with a neck breaker by J. M. York and Bo get the tag and York nails a flying clothesline and slam on Stan. Bo with an Irish whip and misses a BUTT splash. York with a back elbow to Stan and a slam on Bo followed by a Senton splash for 2. York with a boot to Bo and a Tornado DDT. York to the top rope and Fluff buckles him allowing Bo to pin him for the win at 3:39. *1/2. It was short at least.

-Toby Keith performs some country music garbage until my hero Jeff Jarrett pisses him off too.

-NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match: The Gauntlet For the Gold:

#1 is of course, Jeff Jarrett, and #2 is Buff Bagwell. Bagwell with a boot and twisting neck breaker. Jarrett with an Irish Whip and gets caught with a clothesline. Buff tries tossing Jarrett but can't get him over. Bagwell with an elbow and snapping neckbreaker from the 2nd rope. Bagwell goes for a clothesline and Jarrett dumps him to the floor. #3 is Lash Leroux (spelling please!!!!), like he has a chance in hell. Jarrett stomps him fas and tosses him through the 2nd rope. Jarrett whips him to the security railing and drops his head into it. Jarrett with a boot and the stroke (front face Russian leg sweep) and he tosses out Leroux. #4 is "Screamin" Norman Smiley who doesn't scream a lot. Jarrett puts the boots to him to start and Smiley does the Big Wiggle and gets clotheslined out of his shoes. Jarrett sends him to the buckle and gets caught with a huge bodyslam. Smiley showboats and gets low blowed and stroked. Jarrett picks him up and tosses him to the floor. #5 is Apollo who is from Puerto Rico. Jarrett hammers him also and gets caught with the sky high and a series of clotheslines. Apollo with a swinging neckbreaker and tries to toss Jarrett to the floor. Jarrett goes through the 2nd rope and gets stomped on until the end of this 90 seconds. #6 is K-Krush and he saves Jarrett from elimination. Krush hammers Apollo and scores a scissor kick as Jarrett takes a breather. Krush with an Irish whip and gets clotheslined. Jarrett back up and goes with the 10 punches of doom on Apollo, as does Krush. #7 is Slash (?) with his manager Minister James Mitchell. Apollo with a series of rights on him and a clothesline. HUGE Back Body Drop on Slash followed by a swinging DDT. Jarrett up and he gets hammered by Apollo, as does Slash and Krush. Jarrett with a kick to the knee of Apollo saving Slash from elimination followed by a suplex. #8 is Delario who looks a lot like Scott Steiner & Ron Waterman. Krush hammers him as does Jarrett. Slash bites Delario (if that's his name) and puts the boots to him. Jarrett & Krush try eliminating Apollo to no avail. Delario with a belly to belly on Slash and starts stomping Jarrett. #9 is some guy named Justice. He looks like he could go on a diet. He basically nails everyone with big boots. Justice goes to work on Krush as Jarrett & Slash try eliminating Apollo. #10 is Konnan (WOOOOO!) who works in his quotes to no audio. Konnan hammers Jarrett with a rolling clothesline, as does Slash, Steiner wanna be, and Justice. Slash goes after Konnan and puts the boots to him. #11 is Bruce with Leni (don't ask what happens before he enters!) Bruce is formerly Kwee Wee and Funkster. He like everyone goes after Apollo to no avail. #12 is Rick Steiner!!!! He lariats all the heels and eliminates Slash with an over head belly to belly suplex. Justice gets slammed and clotheslined to the floor thanks to Steiner as well. Jarrett gets caught with a powerslam by Steiner. #13 is Malice(sp?) with the Minister guy. He chokeslams Delario, Bruce, Konnan and K-Krush in that order. Elimination is as followed: Bruce, K-Krush, Delario and Konnan. Steiner goes after him now and goes flying after Malice pulled down the ropes. #14 is Scott Hall! Hall is a face thank God and he hammers everyone. hall and Jarrett fight more and Apollo with a crescent kick to Malice. Hall sets up Jarrett and connects with the Outsiders Edge! Toby Keith comes out as a non-entrant and gives Jarrett a stall suplex!! Him & Hall work together and toss out Jarrett from the match after 21:17 in the match. Hall goes to work on the giant idiot and Apollo comes over to help out. Both men chop him to hell for about 20 seconds until Chris Harris enters at #15. Harris hammers everyone including Malice. Vampire Warrior enters at #16 and slams Harris. Warrior is Gangrel of the WWF. He tries tossing Apollo out and also can't do it. Hall comes over and stops him. Harris is wearing Marc Mero's trunks from 1997. #17 is Devon Storm a.k.a. Crowbar from WCW. Storm hammers everyone and settles on Apollo until Harris rakes his eyes. Storm with a front face suplex to stop him as Hall & Apollo trade knife-edge chops on Malice. Vampire Warrior & Devon Storm work on Harris while Hall relaxes in the background. #18 is Steve Corino, who looks familiar to me. He comes over to nail Storm & Vampire and double clotheslines them. Vampire Warrior goes after Corino and gets pounded on while in the other side of the ring Malice is saved by his manager from elimination. Hall gets stun gunned by Storm and nailed with a crescent kick. #19 is Ken Shamrock (whom I haven't seen since 1999) to a great pop. Corino gets nailed as does Storm and Vampire. Harris runs into a Shamrock Powerslam and Malice catches him with a modified powerbomb. Everyone fights for a while. #20 is of course, Brian Christopher. He comes in as a house of fire, eliminating Chris Harris, devon Storm, Vampire Warrior & Steve Corino in a matter of about 20 seconds. Malice with a chokeslam on Christopher and Shamrock simply picks him up and chucks him to the floor. Hall & Apollo double team Malice. Apollo gets back dropped to the floor after about 25 minutes and Hall gets dumped over going for the Outsiders Edge (I saw that a mile away.) so now we are down to Ken shamrock and unknown guy named Malice.

-NWA World Heavyweight Title Conclusion:

Special Guest Referee: Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

Ken Shamrock Vs. Malice (w/ Minister James Mitchell):

Shamrock gets caught with a big boot and a side suplex for 2. Malice scoops him up with a suplex for another 2 count. Shamrock eats buckle and Malice goes for a chokeslam, but it's blocked with a cross arm-bar, and Malice NOTICEABLY Taps out but it's not acknowledged. Malice finally gets the ropes and continues to hammer Shamrock while no selling the hold. Shamrock catches him by the foot and applies the ankle lock submission, but Malice grabs the ropes, only for Shamrock to pull him back to the center of the ring. Malice makes the ropes and Steamboat forces Shamrock to break after a SEVEN count. Shamrock chokes Malice across the top rope for a bit and continues hammering him. Malice with a boot on a Shamrock charge and goes for a chokeslam but Shamrock grabs him and nails a Belly to Belly suplex for 3 and the NWA Heavyweight Championship at 37:30. Match altogether was **1/2.

-Afterwards Jarrett comes out and assaults a few of the legends, forcing out Jackie Fargo who announced that Jarrett will face Scott Hall next week. Both men brawl until the show ends.

-Overall the show is not an excellent show, but it was enjoyable.

NEXT WEEK:

NWA Ladies Lingerie Battle Royal

Brian Christopher Vs. K-Krush

Psicosis/Jerry Lynn/A.J. Styles/Low Ki in action

Jeff Jarrett Vs. Scott Hall
