Guest caboose Report post Posted June 20, 2002 Has anyone here downloaded a working version of GTA3 from Kazaa. The version I have downloaded is the Myth Rip, and works fine except one thing. The game cannot reload saved games, and crashes everytime I load a saved game. Can anyone help?

Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted June 21, 2002 You can buy games pretty cheap used, and save yourself a lot of trouble. Hot Shots Golf 3 rules btw.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted June 21, 2002 I posted a link to the fix yesterday in this topic. Are we allowed to do that? I guess you should click it before we find out.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 21, 2002 I already have GTA3 for PS2, but is the PC version that much better? Should I also download the ripped version, or is it essentially the same thing.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 22, 2002 I already have GTA3 for PS2, but is the PC version that much better? Should I also download the ripped version, or is it essentially the same thing. Well, I'm pretty sure it's almost the same thing.. a big difference is listening to YOUR MP3s as you ride. That kicks ass! It's nothing like listening to "Criminal" by Eminem (or any other song) as you run from the cops. Plus, the graphics are smoother, but it's PC. This is from GTA3.com: "PC Version Differences The differences between the PlayStation2 and PC Version The PlayStation2 version was the first ever version of GTA3 to be released. Since the PS2 version release, the PC version was in production and was released on the 21st of May 2002 in the US and the 24th of May 2002 for the UK. Did it take RockStar North & Rockstar Games over 6 months to convert? No. Additions to the PC version against the original PS2 version were made. • High Resolution Textures Almost every texture in GTA3:PC was replaced with a higher resolution version. This means that when you look at anything in GTA3:PC, signs will be clear to read (or even readable, as some were not in the PS2 version), textures on the road, buildings, etc all have better clarity and contrast. • High Quality Sounds Effects & Music Every sound file in GTA3:PC was replaced with a studio quality version. On the PS2 version many sounds were low in quality to keep performance high. Plus, hearing the sounds through TV speakers doesn't help of course. Put studio quality sound together with some great PC speakers and you've got wicked sound effects and music. • 3D Graphics Card Support (Required) Playing GTA3:PC on a PC without a decent graphics card wouldn't be much fun. As with almost all games today, acceleration of some type is required. GTA3:PC takes full advantage of graphics hardware available on your PC - with today's graphics cards smooth frame rates are achieved compared to the 15-30fps that the PS2 produced. This also makes GTA3:PC look better visually, with textures being hardware drawn through the Microsoft DirectX module which GTA3:PC fully relies on for all visual output. Graphical extras available in DirectX are also available to use. • Accelerated Sound Card Support Although you can play without sound, GTA3 wouldn't be the same. The sounds - and music - in GTA3 make the game that one step better. Support for both software & hardware sound acceleration are supported. Software accelerated sounds cards use your CPU to create sound (usually found on motherboards) which takes up available processing time for more important processes, such as loading Liberty City itself. However, if you have a full accelerated sound card - such as Creative's SoundBlaster Live! series - then you not only leave your CPU's processing time available for more important processes, but you can also take advantage of top quality sound and excellent true 3D sound drivers. Advanced sound drivers such as the award winning EAX 3D driver is available, and together with a 5.1 sound system, you can truly grasp the "living, breathing" feeling within Liberty City. • Custom Skin Feature Whilst our GTA3Mods.com team were planning to implement something similar at a later date, RockStar Games implemented this feature from day one. The custom skin feature lets you put yourself in the game, or anything you see fit. Together with multiple photos or custom made textures, you can create your own skin - selectable directly from the GTA3:PC main menu to play as. • MP3 Player So you've heard liberty city's radio station enough times and now you want to listen to some of your own music. With GTA3:PC's MP3 player (selectable in-game at any time in the same way you select a different radio station), you can listen to your own MP3's." There you have it. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 22, 2002 While we're talking about rips, does anyone know where a NBA 2K2 and Virtua Tennis 2K2 for Dreamcast can be found? You can probably buy those games for super cheap since dreamcast games are on clearance at most stores.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Not as cheap as I would like them to be. I stop by Electronics Boutique when I go to the mall, and those games are still pretty steep considering the Dreamcast is a system that is finished. I might just get my roommate to get them for me with his Best Buy discount.

Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I managed to get a copy of GTA3 for the PC from a friend and I am totally addicted! I usually don't play video games that much in the summer, but damn this game is fun. I was stunned when I learned the bridge eventually gets repaired and you can explore the other half of the city. I assumed the entire game took place on the side you start on (and that would have been cool enough). The second half of the city is even bigger and looks nicer than the first. One question for anyone who has completed the game. The second half of the city (Stauton Island) has a broken bridge leading to another island city. Does that bridge eventually get repaired so you can go there as well, or is it just for decoration? I figure the 2 islands is enough, but who knows.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I think there are 3 islands.

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 20, 2002 The mission where you have to kill Salvatore.. either I don't get there in time or I just can't get pass his people.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 20, 2002 If you're really stuck you could try using some cheats. I have completed 18 percent of the game with no cheats, but it's getting tough. I have taken about 3 missions from Kenji and I'm still only 18%, how much more is there?
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I beat every mission in story mode, but I never got 100 percent completion. I think that was due to a bug in the game because I was supposed to do a mission where I killed the Purple Nines, but they never showed up. I started over, and got to 56 percent completion in short order. My advice to you is to make sure that you have done everything in Portland before doing the Salvatore mission. Make sure you do the Ambulance missions before you kill Salvatore because if you don't, I seriously doubt that you will ever get it done. Here's a walk through for the Salvatore mission: Leaving the place where you get the mission, turn right onto the road leading away from there. The road should then turn left, stay on the road and it will lead you to an intersection. Head through the intersection onto the red pavement, which will take you to Belleville Park. Turn left when thepavement changes back to normal and go all the way to the light. When you get to the light, turn left and you will be at the Callahan Bridge. When you get off the Callahan Bridge, turn left. Follow that street all the way to the end, and there should be an alley with a birbe in it that you can drive through. Head through that alley and go down the street that it leads you onto. There should be an Ammunation store on that street. Across the street from the Ammunation, there should be an archway tha you can drive through. Head through it and go all the way to the end of the street. There should be a movie theater there. Turn left and you should see the Sex Kitten Club at the end of the street, just past the light. Head over to it and hide by the doors. From this vantage point, you should be able to kill Salvatore with a shot from the Sniper rifle. Be careful though, because this area is right by Chinatown, and I've had a Triad wander over there from time to time. I have found that is the easiest way to kill Salvatore. If that way doesn't suit you, you can always kill him at his mansion by getting there ahead of him and creating a barricade at the entrance to the mansion. You can hijack some cars and put them out front. When Salvatore's car comes to the place, you can blow up the cars in the barricade to kill him. You can do that with a shotgun, Uzi or a grenade. You can get shotguns by stealing police cars or getting them from Mafia members. I have to repeat that you should make sure that you have done these missions: Fire Missions Ambulance Missions El Burro Missions Taxi Missions (not essential) You will find it to be a pain in the ass to drive through St. Mark's and have a Mafia member blow your car up because you killed Salvatore. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Well, I forget how many story missions there are, but there are a total of 73 missions and there are rampages and other things you have to do to get 100%. I have gotten to about 71% or 73%, but I couldn't finish the game because of a bug (I was putting extra cars in my Staunton Island garage) that I think gave me problems loading another mission. If you complete 100% of the game, there is a hidden mission that you get.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Thanks for the help, manly.. I'll try that.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Well, I've already done the Salvatore mission, but only did 2 ambulance missions, 1 fire mission, 6 taxi missions, and all but one El Burro mission. I guess I'll make sure to finish everything on the second island. Maybe I'll play through again sometime after I beat it.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 21, 2002 This is what those missions will afford you. Ambulance - Level 12 (Health, Adrenaline and Infinite Running) Taxi - 100 Passengers (New taxi) Fire Missions - 20 on each Island (Flamethrower) Vigilante - 20 on each Island (Police Bribe for every 10 kills) The file I'm playing right now has 72% completed, but I forgot to do a couple of rampages in Portland. I've been getting my ass handed to me by the Mafia when I try to do the rampage that requires you to kill them.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 21, 2002 I haven't even found a rampage yet. What do the icons look like?
