Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Entertaining TV? For how long? Before it gets repetitive? I refuse to beleive that the WWF will be a more entertaining place with these 3 WORKHORSES than it would be without. The more successful it is...the worse thing are for the future. As we will not see anyone elavated. I beleive that Benoit will now have to retire without ever winning the WWF title...and that is a shame.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Now, it won't get stale if the creative team is creative. Which means....it'll probably get stale. Benoit is getting a run with the WWF Title one day. No need to piss your pants. Benoit will be like Bret Hart. He'll only get the title when business is down.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 How can the NWO stay fresh...when they are already stale...and they don't debute for a couple more days?
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 How are they stale? Because Hogan looks like a prune?
Guest KingOfMen Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 If the creative team works this angle right, which is a big if, the nWo angle will be very successful. What the WWF is desperately lacking is fresh match-ups. With four hours of TV a week and 12 PPV's a year, you can only see the same main events so many times. More than anything, this is the WWF's main problem. Will it be workrate heaven. No. Could it be intriuging TV. Definitely. So long as Hall, Nash, and Hogan are motivated and the WWF finds some way to keep us workrate freaks happy, it really could be huge money.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 The split could end up helping the WWF big time if they have two writing teams.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 The problem is that it will work all backwards. The guys who bust ass every night WON'T be in the title picture...and the guys who make "entertaining" tv will be. It's this kind of bassackwards thinking that wrestling has been trying to recover from for the last decade +.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Actually 2000 WWF got it right. Benoit, Angle, Austin, Foley and HHH (the good one) busted their asses off while creating intrigue. Then once Steph didn't break off with Angle it became a long downward spiral. and yes Tony, Hogan looks like a prune! I'm already anticipating the NWO leaving the WWF and they haven't even shown up yet. I'm really hoping this is another personal revenge plan of McMahon's to damage Hogan and Nash.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 The revenge won't start happening unless they sign Bischoff.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Revenge is just too sweeeeet! Had to throw the nWo catch-phrase in there.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Revenge the video game was better than the WCW programming.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 No more NWO catch phrases...they will ruin our RVD plot.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Ok, no more nWo catch-phrases. The coup against HHH must go on until RVD is high on top of the mountain.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Man I want the angle to fall flat on its face then Nash and Hogan's drawing power theory is shot down for good. They can wither away and do Torchtalks with Keller about how screwed McMahon is and how they were set up to fail. If it fails, maybe, just maybe, Vince will realize his daughter can't write compelling tv and overhaul the writing team. If it fails, Vince can look at what the modern wrestling fan likes which (at least for me) is quality in-ring action with guys who can work. If Hogan, Hall, or Nash can produce a **** match, then rock on NWO, but this is nearly an impossibility. Viva la RVD!!!!
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Vince should already know his daughter can't write shit. Ratings started to fall when she took over in the Sep. 2000.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 I hope it turns out to be the biggest failure ever. As the GREAT Owen Hart said: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! AND IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE! a change would do the WWF good.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Owen Hart, another reason to be bitter that guys like Hogan and Nash are still wrestling.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 What kind of change would be better? Don't answer RVD, we already know that. What else should they change?
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 make sure guys with actual talent are able to be involved in top storylines, feuds and main eventing. I don't care if Austin is a politician cos he can still work a match. The minute he becomes UTesque in the ring, he can go away. Kill the i job-you job system that kills elevation. If a guy doesn't receive a positive reaction (bossman, godfather, even Val) stop pushing him. Until HHH can deliver the goods again, don't let him main event. There's a few right there.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Guys at the top of the heap: Jericho, Benoit, Austin, Rock, Angle, HHH (once he improves) Guys in the upper midcard: RVD, Christian, Storm, Kane (who I actually beleive has some talent), Booker T, DDP, Mike Awesome, Perfect, Rhyno Guys in the midcard: Regal, Edge, Tazz, Hurricane, Blackman, Kanyon, Venis Tag Teams: Dudley, Hardys, Saturn & Raven, Hollys, Outsiders, Polumbo & O'Haire Cruiserweights: X-Pac, Taka, Funaki, Tajiri, Chavo, Kidman Guys who are fired: UT, Test, Big Show, Albert, Billy Gunn, Scotty, Spike, Justin Credible, APA, Rikishi, Goldust, Godfather, Bossman Bring in: JJ(upper midcard), Misterio(cruiser_, Juvi (cruiser), Eddie Guerrero(upper midcard), Steiner (Main Event), Steve Corino (mid card to start), C.W. Anderson (mid card), Christopher Daniels (cruiserweight) & LA PARKA (just because) As for Hogan: SCREW YOU, YOU'RE FIRED!
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 I personally think Booker should be at the top of the heap with the big guns, just not being a JTTS.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 I'm all for Scott Steiner & Jeff Jarrett coming in. As long Vince doesn't screw around with J.J. The WWF would have to get serious about the crusierweights before bringing them in. Unless they want some of the bigger guys to squash them.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Of course Booker would get there sooner rather than later (that's why he's upper midcard) but this administration feels he needs to adapt his style a little more to the WWF ring before we elavate.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 That's another thing that needs to change- give the cruiserweights some friggin storylines and something to do. Sidenote-Yes post 200!
Guest Dick Hertz Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 i would say that well over 50% of the "smart" marks on the internet dont want it to work because then what would they have to bitch about. That is unless Chris Benoit, Lance Storm and Ricky Steamboat were the only members. That would KICK ASS!!!
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 you could probably throw Chavo and Dean in there and we'd be even happier.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Eh. Jarrett is a solid wrestler but nowhere near Smarks level that Steamboat, Benoit ,Dean and storm are. I don't see too many 'Bring Back Jarrett Dammit!' posts.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 I don't care about what "the smarks" think. I want Jarrett back. The guy has a bad rep for wanting the money he was owed.
