Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted June 21, 2002 I swear, I've never been able to get the finisher off with L1. Any tricks to doing it?
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted June 22, 2002 OK, a couple of hints: Most of the finishers must be hit when the opponent is groggy. For finishers hit from the front (the Stunner, Rock Bottom, etc.), hit Down and Left or Right to do a toe kick (or to be simpler, down and whatever direction the opponent is in - the left or right). Then hit L1 for the finisher. The back ones (Unprettier, Angle Slam) are a little trickier. Here's a good way. Run toward your opponent, and when you get close to them, hit circle. Your wrestler will run around the opponent, and your opponent will be stunned for a second or so. Use L1 then. For ground moves, hit L1 when the opponent is down. Note that you have to be near the right part of the body - upper or lower. For example, to hit the Lionsault or the People's Elbow, hit L1 when your wrestler is at the upper part of an opponent's prone body. For the Angle Lock or Regal Stretch, hit L1 when you are near their lower part. For aerial attacks when the opponent is down (Swanton Bomb, Diving Headbutt), climb the turnbuckle and hit L1. Hit the opponent with a powerful move to keep him down long enough. For example, when I use Jeff Hardy, I hit the Twist of Fate on the opponent first, then go for the Swanton - just make sure you have two finishers available on your player meter. I've never been able to hit a Molly Go Round - the opponent has to be stunned, then you run up the turnbuckle and hit L1. Freaking tough. For turnbuckle finishers, throw the opponent into the ropes and hit L1. Some of the turnbuckle finishers require that the opponent be thrown so his back faces you and his front is int he turnbuckle (back turnbuckle grapple). In that case, just throw the opponent into the turnbuckle when you're very close to it (takes some work getting them that close - they counter and sometimes your moves throw him farther), then hit L1 when they're in the turnbuckle. Also, many guys have two finishers that can be hit from the same position. Edge's Buzzkiller (Edgecution) and Downward Spiral are both hit from the front. To hit the Buzzkiller, stun the opponent with a kick, then hit L1 only. For the Downward Spiral, hit L1 and a directional pad button (usually in the direction of an opponent). Also, at the character selection screen, before you select, there is an option to view what position the finishers must be hit from. Finally, if you still aren't sure, look for the Smackdown Icon - it pops up VERY briefly (a second or so) on your player's meter...when it flashes you can do the finisher.
