Guest Drury37 Posted June 21, 2002 Report Posted June 21, 2002 I agree that Slaughter would have wrestled Duggan at WWF WrestleMania VII but I don't think Savage would have been wrestled Dusty Rhodes because Rhodes was already in the WCW when WWF WrestleMania VII happened.So I'm not sure who Randy Savage would have wrestled at WWF WrestleMania VII. I seriously doubt that they would have pulled the trigger on Hogan-Warrior II. At the time, they were trying to slowly move the Warrior out of the main event scene, and they were trying to milk the entire Gulf War angle for all that it was worth, hence the fact that Slaughter was in the main event picture. Well, I had a feeling that since they decided to start The Undertaker down the road of the face, that maybe him and Savage would be bomb, either him or Bret Hart, take your shot. Not sure exactly what you mean by this, but the Undertaker was not even being considered to be pushed as a face at this point. Bret Hart was still breaking ties with Jim Neidhart, so there was no way that he would have been involved in a singles match of any kind. Iraqi Slaughter would go up against proud American Duggan. Randy Savage would be beating up on Dusty some more. Well... not really, but.. Good thing you're kidding, or I'd have to slap you. Like Drury said, Rhodes was already in WCW by this point. No way that Duggan would have faced Slaughter, because Slaughter was the WWF champ and in the main event scene at this point, and there is no way that Duggan would have been put against him in a near main event match on such a big show. The fact that Duggan didn't even wrestle on the show, shows you that he wasn't considered by the WWF to be anything big. The fact is, I think that the WWF took the right route. I hated Hogan-Slaughter, but they had to blow off that angle once and for all. Warrior-Savage was also a classic, and had a good storyline to boot. The WWF was doing a lot of stupid things at the time, but even they realized that the Warrior was no longer over enough to warrant another match with Hogan.
Guest Drury37 Posted June 21, 2002 Report Posted June 21, 2002 If they actually had Warrior Vs.Hogan II at WWF WrestleMania VII Warrior would have still have been WWF Champion at that point,therefore Slaughter VS.Duggan wouldn't be that big of a match and the Main Event would have Hulk Hogan Vs.The Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Title. They had learned their lesson from the Warrior's awful title run, and they were well aware that a rematch wouldn't get half of the interest that the first one did.
Guest dreamer420 Posted June 21, 2002 Report Posted June 21, 2002 I disagree. back then the ultimate warrior was still on top of the wrestling world and if he has kept the until wrestlemania and had a rematch with hogan it would have been huge. remember that at the time this took place hogan and warrior were still the two biggest names going.
Guest Some Guy Posted June 21, 2002 Report Posted June 21, 2002 Undertaker didn't turn face until after the Jake Roberts feud that culminated at WM 8. I think he destroyed Jimmy Snuka at WM 7. The WWF did the right thing by blowing off their 2 biggest feuds on the show. Warrior/Hogan II should have happened at WM 8. Hogan left afterwards so the crowd wouldn't have become so polarized like after WM 6 when Hogan stuck around.

Guest Some Guy Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 I think Warrior was suposed to win the title at Summerslam 92 and turn heel but he refused the heel turn and then quit/got fired. So I don't think he would have done a heel turn 6 months before that either. Though he should have.
