I'e recently aquired an AWA DVD with an event named 'Blood on the Sand'. Has anybody seen it, and is it any good?

I havent seen the show, but i would interested in where you got the DVD from. Is someone distributing AWA stuff. That would be cool, I never really got to see any of that stuff and I think it could be fun, and with DVD quality makes it so much better.

Actually, being an Australian, I bought this at JB-HI FI for $8.95, meaning due to our crappy dollar, that's roughly $4.76 US.

Hiya guys, this is the first time I've posted here.

I live in Australia and got hold of the "blood on the sand" DVD also, but there a few things that piss me off about it. Number one, the quality is quite awful considering it's a DVD, it's like a second/third generation dub (although for $10 Australian I probably should have expected that). Also the "Woody Wilson vs Mr. (Kevin Kelley) Magnificant" and "Steve Olsonoski vs Larry Zbyszko" matches featured on the cover weren't even included on the disc!

 

Apart from this, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It's a welcome change from watching the WWE, and the commentators actually seemed to put effort into what they were doing. They made the matches seem important and did a good effort in making the wrestlers look good, even though some weren't so great.

 

The Midnight Rockers vs Summers and Rose cage match was a bloodbath, Shawn Michaels did one of the greatest bladejobs I've ever seen. And it's hilarious listening to the commentators fawn all over Greg Gagne during his matches(wonder why that was?)

The Cage match was bloody, but it wasn't the ESPN bloodfest most people are thinking of. The straight-up tag match earlier on the tape may be the ESPN bloodfest.

they're an australian based tape site with a great selection of tapes, including a dozen or so AWA (inc/ Blood on the Sand)

 

They also have practically every Nitro from 96 to the finish.

 

It's well worth a look.
