I'm going to Local Indy Show (PWS)

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm going to this PWS show at the local PAL this Sat night. I found out about this when people were handing out flyers at the RAW houseshow in White Plains this past Jan.

The Website is www.prowrestlingsyndicate.com and they have a myspace page.

They seem to book alot of TNA guys. But they are advertising Sabu vs Jerry Lynn (previously announced as Sabe/Sandman, but Sandman has been taken out of the match and is still advertised as making an appearance) They had also announced a Tito Santana/Kamala match at first but that has been taken off the poster. The only other matches announced are a 12 man tournament to crown a world champ, and a womens match featuring Angelina Love of TNA fame.

Should be fun. I'll give you a recap on sunday If I can.

Yeah, mad dudes hand out a lot of flyers for these events after a lot of ROH shows. I havent attended one, but they always seems to have nice looking cards. Does Eddie Kingston have a match?

I didn't see his name advertised so I'm not sure. But the Sandman/Sabu match is back on now and Jerry Lynn will instead be in the tourney along with Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Ruckus, Trent Acid, Necro Butcher, Matt Cross, Devon Moore, Kevin Matthews,Kenny Omega, Danny Damanto, and a Mystery entrant.

I'm excited for the show and will post results maybe tom.

Had a great time, despite our car being stuck and my dad and I had to take a cab over to the PAL.

Before the show Sonjay Dutt (despite being the "mystery entrant") came out to sign autographs. They were actually selling WWE and TNA T-shirts and DVDs there. RF video had their own table. Another dude was selling bootleg DVDs of old wcw, ecw, wwe, and other stuff for only 10 bucks a pop, or 3 for 25. I bought the non-bootleg videos had had "Tan Final Resolution 05 and Ultimate Indsiders set with Russo and Ferrara" RF was charging 20 a DVD so I avoided them, cuz they didn’t have too much good stuff, outside a few out of print WWF DVDs like the Foley hard knocks set, hardcore, old rock DVD, and WWF Action. Now that I think of it, I wish I had more cash on me cuz I always wanted to check out that Foley DVD. I instead bought from the bootleg guy later on the 95 king of the death match tourney. The quality isn't too bad on it, as it looks like he just burned it straight from an old vhs tape.

Anyhow they finally started the show about 8 pm. The show basically featured the tournament. They had a singles match to qualify the last guy, then a series of 3 tag matches, with the winners advancing to face each other in the semi-finals, and the 3 winners advancing to the finals in a 3 way match. The tag matches featured some guys I didn't know too well, as well as guys like Jerry Lynn, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Ruckus. This dude called Paul E. Normus actually had an elaborate entrance in which the back sliding exit door opened and he came in a yellow Mazzorati, complete with entourage and Skanky girls handing out bootleg cds.

Sonjay Dutt came out as the "mystery entrant" even though we just saw him earlier at the gimmick tables. He had his TNA Guru music but was dressed as the old Sonjay, with doo-rag and all. He and Danny Damanto lost their match to Lynn and Kenny Omega though.

Anyhow Lynn, Evans, Hart, all advanced to the next round, along with guy in red tights whose name I couldn't hear, Kenny Omega, Devon Moore, and Kevin Matthews.

Intermission was to follow and Sandman just strolled out and hung out with the fans, signing stuff and taking pics with anyone who asked. Teddy however had it announced he would only sign the 8x10s he was selling. That was pretty dickish.

we had intermission, and I spent the time looking at the gimmick tables. My dad went for a cigarette break and hung out with Evans, Lynn, and Hart who were taking a smoke break as well. I had no clue and was inside with my friends. Evans told how he just had his orbital socket broke and had to have screws and a plate in it, and it was still numb.

After the break in a women's match Alexa Thatcher beat Angelina Love after a wicked kick to the head. The ladies had a pretty good match actually. After the match this super fan that knew all the wrestlers was yelling "Talia's hotter" at Angelina

And later on I witnessed a funny moment as they little kids were chasing Angel right to the locker room for an autograph, scaring the crap out of her.

Hart and Evans met in the second round in an insane match that had to go at least 25 mins, in which they went through a crazy high-spot fest, with a ludicrous amount of close 2 counts and lots of moves I've never seen before. In the end Evans won by count out, which sucked. Hart got on the mic and thanked the fans for the response and appreciation for their hard work. He went on a bit too long though and it was hard to hear him cuz the sound guy sucked, and he was yelling too much. But the guys busted their ass and deserved the applause cuz they just about killed each other.

That DJ really sucked, he took too long to play the theme songs, plus his cds kept skipping cuz he had a little cd player sitting right on top of his subwoofers. Even the wrestlers were pissed.

Lynn was actually upset by Omega, and Moore won his match.

Necro Butcher stumbled out and announced that Sabu was hurt and couldn't wrestle so he challenged Sandman. Sand came out and did his whole entrance (with cane, beer, and cigarette) , though the stupid dj didn't play the song loud enough. Some superfan who knew all the wrestlers had his own cane and lit up a cigarette and posed along with him. Sandman did the whole beer thing, despite the large amount of kids there (like it mattered, those kids were crazy, cursing and all).

They basically stalled for what seemed like forever, fighting over what the rules should be (as Butcher is the "PWS commissioner") sand wanted hardcore rules. They had a "match" that consisted of some weak cane shots, weak chair shots, and rest holds. But the crowd ate it up. Sand finally won the match. By the time he left the ring, it was midnight and we still had the tourney finals to get to.

The three way with Evans, Moore, and Omega was pretty lame. Obviously it was so late and they wanted to go home. Evans got eliminated when moore and omega put a double reverse STF on him for the tapout. The crowd protested and Butcher came out to argue with the ref, but Jack was gone and Hart hobbled out to help him to the back. Then Omega challenged moore to get back in the ring and that he would fight for himself and for Jack's effort. Moore tried to run away but Butcher threw him back in the ring. The 2 had a slap fight (really) and again Moore bailed and left to the back. That should have been a count out win for Omega, but instead we got a no-contest. So 4 hours and they have no champion in the main event. I speculated that they probably just didn't have a belt to give the winner. I don't know why they wanted to book a screwy ending like that when they don't have a TV show or ppv to build to, but there you have it. They were filming it and had commentators at ringside, so I assume they'll release it on DVD as they have with their other shows.

I just wish I didn’t have the loud smark behind me, yelling about the psychology missing and the blown moves (of which there were many), cuz it got annoying after awhile, though he gave the quote of the night, when the ring announcer (who looked like Todd Grisham's long-lost brother) said that three cars had to move or they would be towed, so the smarky guy yelled "Tow me, I'm already towed! WHOOOOO"

All in all a great night, hope they come back.

Good to know Evans is ok now and wrestling. I dont know if you saw the footage of how he got his orbital socket destroyed, but it was pretty brutal and nasty.

Also, I LOVE Alexa Thatcher.

I'm pretty shocked that Necro vs Sandman was full of "weak" spots. Necro usually busts his ass and makes the crowd believe he's close to dying. Dissapointing because Necro vs Sandman sounds amazing on paper.

I mean "Weak" is subjective, but it wasn't as brutal as you'd expect. one good cane shot to Butcher's lower leg made it all red, but otherwise a lot of stalling. Maybe they were in a hurry? Or they didn't want to get too extreme with so many kids around, and this being their first show here, didn't want to get in trouble with the building people? Or maybe Sandman was that drunk (he seemed in pretty bad shape and his voice sounded terrible)

anyhow the website now has results up and reminded me that in the main event, after Evans was eliminated, Moore and Omega actually got the double 10 count on the ground, thus ending the match, but Omega challenged Moore on the mic and Butcher threw him back in the ring to restart the match, but Moore took off right away. also Ruckus turned on his partner Trent Acid cuz of miscommunication, which led to the other team winning. Acid took quite a beating in the match, which led to a standing ovation afterwards, and Hart (one of his opponents) got on the mic to appreciate his effort.

sorry I forgot details but I got home late and didn't have much sleep the other night.

and yea the guy behind me earned my respect with the tow quote. As well as encouraging the wrestlers to sell, and the ref to learn how to do his job (cuz he at times forgot to count to 5 to break a hold in the ropes, and once let flagrant double teaming go on for like 30 seconds without even attempting to stop it)

Bumping this cuz PWS is coming back here agan on 9/26. They are adverising Demoltion, Jimmy Hart, Jerry Lynn, and Jay Lethal, I assume Sandman won't be back after his run-in with the Yonkers PD. I just got me tix. I update when I find out more. Anyhow the Hart-Evans match from the previous show is on youtube now,as well as on dvd thru PWS (which I own and is pretty good quality for an indy video)

Heh, this thread confused me for a second, because I'm going to a completely different PWS show this weekend in NC. One with Daffney, Shannon Moore, Joey Silvia, and THE MAN SCOUT.

..oh, and some Flair dude.

Well, it was more a joke about how his name isn't quite as famous as the others you listed, except for whoever the hell Man Scout is. (Personally, I'd be most excited for 1.DAFFNEY, 2.Flair, and 3.everyone else.) Although I did work with Joey once a few years back, he stopped by through Nashville, probably trying to get a dark match with TNA. I heard his name wrong and then proceeded to call him Joey Silver throughout his entire match.

well it's clear from the other thread that there is another PWS out there, as mine stands for Pro Wrestling Syndicate and runs shows in the NY/NJ area. Anyhow, my show is tonight. Too bad we're having bad weather though. I'll report back with results and such.

Here are results straight from their website

The opening contest saw a 4 Way Match for a PWS Contract between EJ Risk, "Juicy"

Justin Corino, VSK, and Vicious Vin. About 10 minutes into this back and forth match up

in which VSK was the obvious stand out, "The Cold Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto,

sporting a snazzy Charles Oakley Knicks jersey, jumped the guardrail from the crowd and

hit finishers on all four participants with the crowd of an estimated 200 behind him.

Demanto cleaned house and with the crowd's approval proclaimed that he is back in PWS.

With Commissioner Necro Butcher not in the building, there was really nobody to tell him

otherwise. Necro is expected to issue a statement on this in the coming days.

Kevin Matthews escorted his Reality Check teammate Tommy Suede to the ring for his

singles match with fellow The Wrestler film star Romeo Roselli. This match marked another

first for PWS; not only as a battle of two film stars, but as the first time in perhaps the

entire career of Romeo Roselli that he had the entire crowd cheering for him. Mid match,

a melee broke out between Reality Check (Matthews/Devon Moore), B-Boy, and Grim

Reefer. In the midst of the free for all, Suede took a beating from B-Boy which led to

the local hero Romeo picking up the pinfall victory. As a hurt Suede was taken to the

back by his Reality Check teammates, Reefer made the announcement that due to the

bad weather Jerry Lynn was legit stuck at the Raleigh/Durham airport. Moore agreed to

put his PWS Title on the line in a Three Way Dance Ambulance Match later in the night

against B-Boy and Reefer.

Paul E Normus pinned the behemoth Fala

Azrieal pinned Mentallo in a 20 minute classic match

Black Machismo Jay Lethal entered the ring and announced that while he was supposed

to wrestle Demolition with a mystery partner tonight, there was a guy in the locker room

that he had always wanted a piece of. Out came One Warrior Nation! Machismo picked up

the win after hitting three top rope elbow drops.

The match up between Demolition and The Latin American Dream/Danny Demanto was

ruled a No Contest after Reality Check stormed the ring as Ax and Smash were hitting

their finisher on Rob Vegas. Post match, Danny Demanto beat down Rob Vegas and

joined Reality Check.

Universal Records hip hop star Poison Pen's intermission performance was interrupted by

The Manitoba Maulers (Danny Duggan + Antonio Scorpio). New PWS tag team The Urban

Legends (Wes Draven + Devious) came to Pen's aid and picked up the win. Poison Pen

was announced as The Urban Legends' new manager.

The Dynamic Sensation pinned Javi-Air in a rematch from PWS Refuse To Lose

In the main event, PWS Champion Devon Moore defeated Grim Reefer and B-Boy by

throwing Grim Reefer into the ambulance after a near half hour battle that spread

throughout the entire building. The ambulance drove out of the building with Reefer in

back to St John's Riverside Hospital following the conclusion of the match. Reality Check

members Kevin Matthews and Danny Demanto were involved in the match and both

received beatings. Matthews was tossed from the ring onto a full row of set up chairs while

Reefer climbed a scaffold and dove onto Demanto whom was laid out across a set of

guardrails. About 20 chairs, a stretcher, an oxygen tank, frozen water bottles, and even a

football were used in this match up. Moore's PWS Title now has the Reality Check logo

on the main plate. "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy is blaming Danny Demanto's

involvement in this match as the reason why he did not walk out as PWS Champion.

Attendance was near 200 people which included WWE Legend "The Mouth Of The South"

Jimmy Hart, TNA star Homicide, New England tag team champs The Hoodz, FTW

superstar Jay Lover, rapper Knowledge, and more. Jerry Lynn wishes to apologize to his

fans that he was unable to attend the event due to his flight cancellation. Lynn left his

home in Nashville, TN at 8am Fri morning, however when he arrived in Raleigh/Durham

NC for his connecting to flight to NY's JFK, he was informed that all departures to NY + NJ

had been postponed until the following morning due to high winds and rain in the area.

In reality I doubt there were 200 fans there, as half the crowd was made up of freebies and/or cops' kids. Demolition was charging 20 bucks for a polaroid and autographs so I passed, but did say hello to them and Jimmy Hart.

Weird to see an empty crowd when the last show had near 500 people there. But at least the show was fun, and I got a free dvd for having front row seats. The ambulance match was crazy as we followed them around and nearly got landed on several times. The aforementioned football actually was introduced by the kids. Then Moore did the Heisman pose with it to huge laughs. At one point the 2 challengers actually irish whipped Moore into the wall, from about 50 feet away-which may be the fakest thing I have ever seen in wrestling. But Moore is hilarious as the cowardly heel, and Matthews as manager was great at inciting the crowd. The title belt however looked cheap and the reality check logo was infact a pice of red tape, which I speculated was holding the belt together. Poor Matthews was slamemd twice on set up stacks of chairs, leading him to joke with us "I don't get paid enough for this".

Again the kids nearly ruined it by constantly yelling, cursing, and standing up since they appeared to have no parental supervision with them.

But I enjoyed it and got to see f-ing Demolition, with Barry Darsow still managing to squeeze into the bondage gear while Ax opted for a black singlet lol And when they returned to stop the Reality Check beatdown, they took our chairs, awesome.

By the way, One Warrior Nation was the wrestler formely known as the Zombie, which everyone knew and chanted at him. He did do a good Warrior impersonation though. The crowd booed a bit by the ripoff, ironically while cheering the Savage ripoff Lethal. The results on the site were incorrect, as "Warrior" actually got up after the elbows and hulked up. Lethal ron with a rollup and his feet on the ropes. After the match "Warrior" grabbed a fans replica White IC title belt and posed with it.

Fala was your typical Samoan Savage-Type guy, though he had a normal haircut which was odd.

At intermission most of the wrestlers leftwho had already competed, left and Jimmy Hart as well.

But it reinforced my love of small indies, where you are so close to the action and interact with all the wrestlers more easily.

That One Warrior Nation guy appeared at an indy show in Maine about a year back. Unfortunately, the promotion decided to advertise him as "The Warrior" so needless to say, the 75 people that showed up for that show weren't too happy.

It was cool to see B-Boy, since I used to see him in the So-Cal indies back in the day.

I'd also like to mention the sound was horrible again, you could hardly hear the promos. Plus the music sounded like it was being played in the next room, leading the rapper to go at it w/o music cuz he couldn't hear it, then the bad PA made it impossible to understand him. But at least Demolition had their theme and Lethal and "Warrior" as well. Even Hart got "Eat your heart out Rick Springfield" played as he was announced at the autograph table, though sadly no promo from him.

Pro Wrestling Syndicate has announced they are coming back to Yonkers PAL Dec 6. Shocking to me, as last month's show had a poor attendance. They are advertising Sandman ,Sabu, Kamala, Terri Runnels, and the new PWS commissioner-THE IRON SHIEK.

This should be good, that is if everyone shows up. Sabu missed the March show due to injury, and Jerry Lynn missed last month's due to canceled flight because of bad weather.

DEVON MOORE defeated Sabu, Sandman, Grim

retain the PWS Title by pinning Grim Reefer. This

multiple table dives, about 50 steel chairs in the ring,

and more mayhem that spilled all over the building

while Commissioner Iron Sheik watched!

KNOCK OUT MATCH

"The Ugandan Giant" Kamala defeated Eddie Kingston

in a Knock Out Match in ONE MINUTE after knocking

Kingston to the mat followed by a big splash. Ref

counted a 3 count pinfall as the savage Kamala was

unclear on the rules, however Kingston was knocked

out cold for the 10 count!

AMBULANCE MATCH

The masked DEADPOOL with Gorgeous George

defeated Kevin Matthews with Terri Runnels , leaving

both Kevin + Terri a bloody mess!!

PWS TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH

(NOTES: Adam Flash was ill , Lince Dorado injured.

Balls Mahoney, Fire Ant, Paul E Normus, DJ Hyde

added as surprises)

Great show, all the wrestlers talked and signed for the fans and took pics. Hell Sabu just walked in with his tights on and a tshirt and ballcap right past us when he arrived at the building. Later my dad was out smoking a cigerette with Sabu and talking about Abdullah the Butcher and stuff. Note that Sabu was waering his headress and no tshirt and it was freezing outside. Kevin Matthews continues to impress me as he took a hell of a beating in the ambulance match, with two of the sickest chair shots I have ever seen live. He was bleeding all over the place. Even Terri took a pretty sick chair shot. And these are old armory metal chairs at that. Sabu nearly killed himself in the main event when he got his feet caught in the top rope trying to do a triple jump dive over the top, and fell right on his head. Sandman got the crowd throwing chairs in the ring , and it almost got out of hand. I was thinking he'd get arrested in Yonkers again as there were many cops on hand at the PAL naturally. Shiek was hilarious, limping around slowly with his cane to yell at the members of Reality Check, he even got involved in the Demanto/B-Boy match, hitting Danny with his cane, after Danny taunted him by applying the Camel Clutch to B-Boy.

Again it appeared that half the crowd were freebies and/or wrestlers' families or girlfriends. But they probably had about maybe 150 paid fans there, not bad for an indy fed these days.

Hope they book another show here soon, I really enjoy this fed. Check out www.prowrestlingsyndicate.com for photos of the event.

So is THAT the match that has the pics of Terri bleeding like hell?

Yea, but live it looked like fake blood to me, (she put her arm up to block the shot, but the top of the chair defin hit her on the head.) The setup was she was holding Deadpool and Matthews swung and DP ducked. I doubt she bladed, but the pics look nice.

Damn when you're right, you're right. Like I said I THOUGHT it was fake. I didn't get a good view of her head, as I was sitting 35 feet away from the ring. I just didn't think Terri of all people would blade.

Thanks for that blownup pic though, I hadn't seen that particular shot yet I can now tell my dad he was wrong . I don't think he believes me about blading, even after all this time.

I Should note that the team of Tapp and Cole mentioned in the results are known as the "Scumbag Express" thereby making them my new favorite tag team. And they did a move where they yell "SCUMBAG EXPRESS !! WOOTWOO (train noises) then do a double running attack of some kind (unsure what cuz the opponent moved) . Too bad they jobbed to a pretty boy team wearing horrible, tight fitting orange pants :)

Of course, there is the other option, that being her being busted open hardway. But that gash looks a little too nice to be a hardway shot.

But she did get her hand up to protect her head, I just don't know how much chair hit her face, these were old chairs afterall with sharp points prob, but yea that looks like a blade, I'm pretty sure Matthews cut her , he immediately got down to "console her" following the accidental chairshot. My dad thought he saw him rub something on her head, he fig it was fake blood, but we know better.
