Metallica: Best Metal band for the first four albums, but now are pricks. Even if they have sold out, James still writes some kick ass lyrics

Slayer: The trademark duo of Kerry King and Jeff Hannemen is excellent, but their latest album, God Hates Us All was pretty poorly done.

Pantera: Second best Metal band, behind Iron Maiden. Dimebag Darrel is one of the best Metal guitarists of all time, but like Slayer, Re-inventing the Steel was a total letdown

Testament: Eh...Okay I think, nothing too special.

Hatebreed (questionable): Great Hardcore band, great to see live

Cannibal Corpse: Death metal rules doesn't it?

Six Feet Under: Nope, I think they should be six feet under instead.

Nevermore: Haven't listen to their stuff.

Testament: You love Testament don't you?

SOAD*: Great Nu-Metal band, actually one of few decent bands that became popular/

Static-X*: Eh...nothing special either.

Slipknot*: Crap. Lose the gimmick and drop four members and maybe they'll be listenable

Mudvayne*: Ryknow is a tremendous bassist and should join some other group. The rest I couldn't care for, just like the band

Mushroomhead*: Innovative, and really a great band to listen too. XX is a killer album

Morbid Angel: Saw them, was disappointed, but the main stand out was their drummer.

Sepultura: Early stuff awesome, newer stuff is crap.

Soulfly: Couldn't care less

Metallica - Nifty little band. Good live show even if they've been slipping in the album department.

Slayer - Possibly my favorite metal band of all time second only to...

Pantera - These guys rule, yup.

Testament - pretty good, my roomate likes em alot.

Hatebreed (questionable) - Perhaps not metal, but still very very angry. If their live show is anything like the rage thats on their CD's it would be unreal.

Cannibal Corpse - Pickaxe Murder is a nifty little tune but I don't really likr them that much.

Six Feet Under- Their cover of Jailbreak was money, other than that I'm not a big fan.

Nevermore - Swedish right? I like In Flames better

SOAD* - Good good stuff, seen em live a few times. I'm a fan.

Static-X* - First CD good, I saw em live in a club, but I'm not too big of a fan of Machine

Slipknot* - Band=Shit (HA! I made a funny!)

Mudvayne*- shit, the re-released first cd is fucking terrible.

Mushroomhead* - XX is a goodass CD. I kinda want to see their live show.

Morbid Angel - Saw them on the first Extreme Steel tour, wasn't anything too special

Sepultura- Max is a god here as opposed to his current state in...

Soulfly- Put me off right away by having Fred Durst do a fucking song on the debut CD. That song with Tom Arraya on the second CD is good though.

Metallica - Easily the best band ever, in my eyes. Each album has its own sound, its own style, and although the current state of the band is shitty to say the least, they helped create thrash metal (which lead to death metal), and every piece of music they made was good until their self-titled album.

Slayer - Toned it down in the 90's, but they're still going strong. Another band I can't get sick of easily.

Pantera - Trendy, but in an underground sense. When the underground was all about power metal/glam rock bands, Pantera released I Am The Night. When the underground was about a more raw sound, they released Vulgar Display Of Power. Etc. etc. I think their only truly GREAT albums are Cowboys From Hell and Great Southern Trendkill, and the rest have their moments (Reinventing The Steel was easily the best pure metal album of 2000, though).

Testament - Meh, never really got into them.

Hatebreed (questionable) - **shudder** A couple decent songs, but they grow old REALLY fast.

Cannibal Corpse - With Chris Barnes, pretty shitty. Without Barnes (especially the last few albums), they kick a lot of ass. Gore Obsessed fucking owns.

Six Feet Under - Best untintentionally funny band ever.

Nevermore - Warrel Dane and Jeff Loomis are 2 of my gods. Warrel's vocals are distinct, something most power metal vocalists could learn a thing or 2 about, and Jeff Loomis writes kick-ass riff after kick-ass riff. Much like Metallica, no 2 albums really sound the same. Dreaming Neon Black is easily their best album, but Dead Heart In A Dead World and their debut are great as well.

SOAD* - Best mainstream hard rock band since Nirvana, and you can quote me on that.

Static-X* - Pretty good. Wisconsin Death Grip gets old really fast, but Machine is very varied. The next Ministry.

Slipknot* - Meh...I'll listen to them if their on the radio or if my friend has them in his stereo, but I wouldn't go see them live.

Mudvayne* - One of the worst bands ever.

Mushroomhead* - Underrated. Most people here "Xeroxed" and "Solitaire/Unraveling" and think they're just about pseudo-metal riffs. Personally, I consider them to be ACTUAL metal, in a Faith No More-ish way. One of the more original acts in the past 5 years.

Morbid Angel - Generic death metal with a tendency to make a good song. Next please.

Sepultura - Old-school Sepultura = FUCKING AWESOME!!!!! Lately, though, they seem to want to be Soulfly. Which leads us to...

Soulfly - ...One of the worst bands I've ever heard. The song "Back To The Primitive" has a beautiful piece of tribal music after a really good nu-metal song, and then Max Cavalera has to be a dickhead and scream "BACK TO THE PRIMITIVE!" over more riffs for a few seconds after the kick-ass tribal music. Fuck you, Snoop Cavalera.

Nevermore - Who?

SOAD* - Who?

Static-X* - What I've heard, I like.

If I deleted them, i don't know enough about them to comment.

Metallica- once one of the greatest bands ever. now a shell of thier former self.

Slayer- South of Heaven is great. everything else is trash.

Pantera- way overrated. it's a amazing how one kick ass song (walk) could springboard these guys to stardom.

Testament- I haven't listened to Testament since Practice What You Preach

Static-X*- crap

Slipknot*- even more crap. horrible live.

Mudvayne*- geniuses.

Sepultura- listenable. i dig the latin vibes.

Soulfly- they have a song with john lennon's son. that must count for something.

Metallica - one of the kings..my favorite is master..they mellowed, but so what we need some regular rock bands.. least fav is the black album

Slayer - have fallen apart in comparison and not in a good change like metallica..reign in blood is tops

Pantera - the best live band on this list my fav is either cowboys or steel

Testament- one of my favorute bands ever..didnt like it when they tried to go death.. best is Practice what you Preach

Hatebreed (questionable) great live but only had one good album..but what an album(satisfaction)

Cannibal Corpse - good live but never cared for any albums

Six Feet Under -like much much better than corpse

Nevermore - great, like a heavier Queensrych

SOAD* - a mixed bag, sometimes you have to be in the right mood to make it through a whole album

Static-X* - i love them but would admit they rip off Ministry and White Zombie a little, its okay as they usually acknowledge it in interviews.. have the logo tatooed (noy because im so into them just cause it was a good design -- its gotten me backstage though!!)

Slipknot*- had a lot of potential but fell apart on Iowa (except for Heretic Song

Mudvayne*- dont care for them but wouldnt necessarily say they are "bad"

Mushroomhead* -okay i havent heard a ton of stuff

Morbid Angel- five words :formulas fatal to the flesh!!! another great band

Sepultura - arise and chaos are just so killer but they fell apart on roots.. they wanted to turn inot an amalgam of what they were and Korn..they would suck korn (and ross robinson's) dick in intervies all over the place and admitted they wanted to detune and get that same sound and all..just a totla misstep..i like Korn, I like Sepultura..i dont want them to sound like each other

Soulfly - the first album was good but i hated 2 and never tried 3

Wait a second, goodhelmet...how the fuck can you call Pantera overrated with only one kickass song ("Walk," which is so overplayed and overrated I can't begin to rant), then call Mudvayne, a group of good musicians that make the most utterly awful-sounding "nu-metal" music, geniuses?*

* = Yeah, I know they're actually really smart guys and all, but we're talking music here, not intelligence.

ok here are my opinions

Metallica - Best Metal Band ever, PERIOD, no matter what they do now, they should always be remembered as legends, and Fade to Black is possibly the best written song of all time IMO

Slayer - AWESOME! They are just plain explosive live, as they turn pits into fuckin frenzies, you gotta love it, Seasons In the AByss is their best album

Pantera - First thing first, anyone who says Walk is their best song should be shot in the face, its obviously Cemetary Gates, awesome live show, I think that Phil might die soon, he is beginning to look really sickly

Testament - Only heard selections, but they are all good

Hatebreed (questionable) - Awesome live, shitty on CDs

Cannibal Corpse - Take as a joke

Six Feet Under - These guys are the "Knock-Off" of metal as they are remembered for all the wrong reasons

Nevermore - Good band, that's it

SOAD* - Best Mainstream band around, liked them 3 years ago, anbd people said who the fuck is system of a down

Static-X* - Many hate 'em, but I don't... shitty lyrics, but everyone cant have Metallica-quality lyrics

Slipknot* - First album was decent, Iowa was a train wreck, horrible live (possibly because I saw them sandwiched between SLayer and Metallica)

Mudvayne* - No.

Mushroomhead* - Eh

Morbid Angel - Eh

Sepultura - Arise is one of the best Cd's in my music collection, Chaos is good, new stuff is bad

Soulfly - Max is slipping

SOAD are great, mushroomhead are great, used to love metallica and pantera, and i don't mind slipknot or mudvayne really, even if they both seem to not realise their strengths, making most of their songs crap. I haven't heard enough slayer, and soulfly are crap. Cannibal corpse are one of the worst bands ever.

Metallica - I'm glad you put these guys on the top of the list, because they are the best on it. Great metal band to start with, and a better hard rock band afterward. They even have the distinct honor of a perfect song, "Fade To Black". Guitar solo's rule. I would say they had the best song library, ever. They aren't my favourite but they still rule.

Slayer - Not a very good band, per say, but the guitar/drums are always hella tight. No real awesome songs of holiness though, they still have alot of very very good ones.

Pantera - "Cemetary Gates" is one of the best songs ever, period. Fucking PERFECT. Besides that "Floods" and "Planet Caravan" and "Walk" are pretty good as well as some I don't know the names to cuz I don't have the albums.

Testament - Heard of them, not listen.

Hatebreed (questionable) - Stupid garbage.

Cannibal Corpse - I've only heard the early stuff, but honestly I think they are the absolutely worst band I have ever listened to. Utter and complete crap. I do respect them though. The same way I respect Henry Rollins, Nine Inch Nails and Led Zepplin. Using and image to get fans even though their music is utter shit. All it takes is for your parents not to like something to make it popular I guess.

Six Feet Under - Could it get any worse after CC was on the list? YES! Damn I don't even want to talk about how bad Barnes sucks the tailpipe this time.

Nevermore - Laz whores them alot, might check 'em out.

SOAD* - Decent I guess. None of their songs are really on the "classic" level though. Their climaxes suck and the songs get on my nerves fast (EXCEPT the two SMART singles they released, "Ariels" and "Toxicity" which have grown on me... Those albums make me want to kill myself, though).

Static-X* - Buh buh buh BORING.

Slipknot* - Shuffle these guys into the CC/Six Feet Under catagory.

Mudvayne* - I used to think these guys were good. BOY WAS I WRONG. They stink, bleh.

Mushroomhead* - Kind of cool. But not really.

Morbid Angel - Over... Over-rated... Over... Over-rated...

Sepultura - Cool stuff that I've heard.

Soulfly - Stewped.

I just read my post. I feel like and idiot "Buh buh buh BORING!"? Somebody, please end my life now.

Ack...god no.

No one would ever be the next ministry, and especially not Static-X.

I would also like an opinion on these bands.

Opeth

Iron Maiden

Type-O-Negative

Paradise Lost

Dream Theater

Opeth-Amazing Progressive Death Metal band. Have yet to release a bad album. One of the best Metal bands of the past decade or perhaps alltime.

Iron Madien-Metal in its puriest form. Essential.

Type O Negaitve-Too cheesy for my taste.

Paradise Lost-Decent Death/Doom Metal band. Far better bands in the genre though, like My Dying Bride and Katatonia.

Dream Theater-God like musicianship. If your in to Power Metal, this is the band to worship. Vocals are cheesy, but are you really listening to them.

KMFDM-Industrial Metal isn't my thing.

Opeth - I've only heard the stuff off of Blackwater Park, and it's pretty good. Not really my thing, but I can respect it.

Iron Maiden - I love this band. Aside from the stuff with Blaze, not a single Maiden album/song is bad.

Type-O-Negative - The best joke band ever.

Paradise Lost - Haven't heard enough to judge.

Dream Theater - The best collection of musicians in one band today.

KMFDM - Pretty good industrial. And I hate industrial with a passion, so that says something.

Metallica: Absolutely the best metal band of the 80s. One of the greatest metal bands of all-time. I'm hesistant to call them the best ever, as the farther along they slide into overall suckitude the more their legacy is tarnished. Were absolutely fucking GREAT for a loooong time. I actually liked the self-titled album. I bought both Load and ReLoad, even though they were disappointments compared to previous works. It makes me sad to think of what a fucking sell-out joke they've become. But then again, they're probably worth millions, so the joke's on us, huh?

Slayer: Never really that into them.

Pantera: For some reason, I can't STAND them. A friend of mind gave me "Far Beyond Driven" and I hated it. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Testament: Nothing remarkable.

Hatebreed: Not too into hardcore, but they're very good at it. Good music to play when you're pissed.

Cannibal Corpse: Never seen the appeal.

Six Feet Under: Nope.

Nevermore: Can't say I've listened to them. Heard good things though.

SOAD: I wanted to dislike them, since when I first heard of them they were described to me as the "next Rage Against the Machine", I suppose because of the political meanings to their songs (that's if you can actually decipher some fucking meaning from Serj's lyrics). Since I HATE Rage, I wanted to hate SOAD, but I'm digging their music. They're too good to be plastered with the bastard "nu-metal" label.

Static X: I've enjoyed a few of their songs, but I was GREATLY annoyed when one of them did the X-cutioners video with the tool from Linkin Park (and I actually like Linkin Park, in my own strange way, but someone should tell Shimoda he isn't a competent rapper).

Slipknot: Whee, they were masks! CARE????

Mudvayne: I literally want to break things when I hear their music. They make me gnash my teeth, and not in a good way.

Mushroomhead: Nuh uh.

Morbid Angel: The vanilla midgets of death metal.

Sepultura: Good!

Soulfly: Bad!

KMFDM - Pretty good industrial. And I hate industrial with a passion, so that says something.

I actually love industrial. YOU SIR, ARE MY ENEMY!

I'm not a metal fan, but I knew most of them so here goes...

Metallica: Only older stuff, but I like.

Slayer: The same goes for Metallic, but I only listen to them if they're playing.

Pantera: Good stuff, I mean I haven't heard too much but still.

Testament: Meant of heard one song so not sure.

Hatebreed (questionable): Alot of people around my area think of Hatebreed as really hard punk. Either way Hatebreed's cool.

Cannibal Corpse: Only read lyrics.

Six Feet Under: Never heard.

Nevermore: Only heard awesome things about them.

SOAD*: I hate SOAD, I know I know, the only song I can tolerate is "Toxicity."

Static-X*: Death Trip I like (but of course I don't own them) but they're decent.

Slipknot*: Meh, I listen to them when I get bored.

Mudvayne*: Read Slip.

Mushroomhead*: Over rated.

Morbid Angel: Never heard of, heard bad things of.

Sepultura: Haven't heard.

Soulfly: Haven't heard.

Opeth: I've heard one of the albums at my friends, probably my favorite listed so far, or close too.

Iron Maiden: Can't bash Maiden.

Type-O-Negative: Never heard.

Paradise Lost: Never heard.

Dream Theater: Heard one song, not bad.

KMFDM: Meh.

In Flames: I've only heard "Only for the weak" but I marked for that.

Iron Maiden - Holy grail of sweetness. The best part? Everything is simple yet GREAT.

Type-O-Negative - I think they're silly. In a good way.

Dream Theater - Overated, still very good. The only thing about them that really bugs me is that Petrucci is their main selling point, when in reality he's a watered-down version of Satriani. They have a similar style of playing and similar tone but if I wanted to listen to killer guitar playing like that why pick Petrucci up when Satriani is there?

Metallica: Black Album and before=good. Load and after= bad. Garage Inc. is questionable, since there was no really new shit in there. I Disappear made me want to punch myself in the balls.

Slayer: I liked Disciple of God Hates Us All, War Ensemble, and Raining Blood.

Pantera: Their last album sucked dick. Before that is good.

Testament: Ain't heard of them.

Hatebreed (questionable): Only heard a little. But I do like what I have heard. But that can change.

Cannibal Corpse: I've heard some, but every song sounds exactly the same. I should listen to some more, since I know the names of the songs.

Six Feet Under: STABBING YOU TO FUCKING DEATH REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIE!! sorry. I do like them. I got the cover album (and how in the hell is that not parental advisory, out of principle?) and I think Jimi is rolling over in his grave over their version of "Purple Haze." I do like their original shit, such as "One Bullet Left" w/Ice-T and "No Warning Shot."

Nevermore: Ain't heard them.

SOAD*: Sugar is good, everything else is hit and miss.

Static-X*: Liked "Black and White," don't listen to them much, Static's beard is insane.

Slipknot*: Sometimes I like them, other times I think they're pussies.

Mudvayne*: Suck. At. Life.

Mushroomhead*: Never heard them.

Morbid Angel: Probably heard them, don't remember it.

Sepultura: How in the hell did they get Pavarotti to sing with them? Did they put a fucking gun to his head or something?

Soulfly: Jumpthefuckup is good after 2:30 or something. Bleed got real old real fast.

Metallica - is by far the best mainstream metal band of the 90s

Static X - I love the sound, Trance is the Motion is a great song, and the lead singer has the "it" look

KMFDM - the nihil album has great guitars, but the vocals seem to lack something

Canibal Corpse - when I saw them on Ace Ventura with Jim Carrey doing vocals I died laughing, have not heard enough to form a real opinion of the band besides this.

SOAD - I like some of their songs but I would rather listen to Rage than SOAD

Mudvayne - well I like their song Dig

Mushroomhead - well the make-up gimmick seems to work

Type O Negative - the vocals have me hympotized on wanting more.....so this is what Adams Family's Lurch would sound like if he had a band.

Slayer - saw them perform on ESPN, so this is what the Soundtrack from Hell is like.

Iron Maiden - just little to 80s for me, but there are some songs that make me say ehhhhhhhhhhhhhKILLhhhhhhhKILLhhhhhhhKILLhhhhhhoooooooo
