Guest C.H.U.D. Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 I saw Minority Report tonight and thought it was excellent. The movie looked great (I found the CGI to be more convincing than in previous sci-fi flicks) and the story was very interesting. I was able to call some of the twists, but not all of them. The movie was full of unique and interesting characters as well. I get the feeling this may be considered the first "classic" sci-fi film of the new millennium, even though it is basically a really glossy "whodunnit". I hope Speilberg will continue to make more sci-fi movies. I know this is the kind of film not everyone will like. Other opinions please!
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 Great-movie-indeed.I-didnt-expect-to-like-it-as-much-as-I-did. Colin-Farell(SP?)is-the-next-big-thing.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 Hmm...interesting...surprising but interested. I was split on rather or not i even cared to see it, I guess i'll be sure to check out now. However it's still below Lilo & Stitch on my new movies coming out this week that i want to see list. But to put your minds to ease...It is above Juwanna Mann on my list
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 After-Minority-Report,I-went-to-see-Juwanna-Mann. One-of-the-WORST..........MOVIES........OF..........THE.........YEAR. Vivica.A.Fox-was-watchable,but-Miguel-A.Nunez-and-Tommy-Davidson. Oh-God! 3-Weeks-till-RESURRECTION!
Guest El Satanico Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 After-Minority-Report,I-went-to-see-Juwanna-Mann. Why on earth would you even go to see Juwanna Mann? I have no problem with bad or cheesy movies. But Juwanna Mann looks like a movie that is far beyond a bad movie. It just looks like a plain shitty movie with nothing redeemable. So honestly what were you thinking actually going to see it. Damnit you could've at least went to see Lilo & Stitch which is a movie that actually looks good. What's Resurrection
Guest converge241 Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 I cant wait to see it (i hate opening weekend crowds, so ill see it on a weeknight) sounds great!
Guest El Satanico Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 Hmmm... A new Halloween movie in 3 weeks and it hasn't recieved any hype that all. I don't find that to be a good sign at all.
Guest godthedog Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 haven't seen 'minority report' yet. but i did see 'lilo and stitch', and it was pretty good. it's pretty cool to see disney changing with the times (broken families, non-WASP characters) and it was cute, but it didn't have the sense of humor that i've come to expect from a modern animated movie.
Guest King_TIL Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 Minority Report is definitely the best movie I have seen this year (FOTR, Beatiful Mind, Royal Tennenbaums being the other three I've gone to). Sure you can see some of the "twists" coming, but it is still a great movie. Works on different levels, too.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Saw Minority Report yesterday and thought it was really cool, Speilberg getting freaky is always cool. Incedently did anyone notice Cameron Crowe's cameo in the film. I thought that was so cool, especially considering Spielberg cameoed in Crowe's Vanilla Sky. Oh and speaking of Vanilla Sky, Cameron Diaz was robbed a Best supporting actress nomination forr the 2nd time (first being Being John Malkovich)
Guest King_TIL Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Daredevil-Teaser! Who was that playing him? Looked kind of like Ben Afleck, but I couldn't believe that he would be cast as a superhero.

Guest Insanityman Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 I just went to see it two nights ago. Highly enjoyable, I could call a few of the twists yet not all of them. You have to really follow the movie though, but I think it was one of the best movies I've seen all year.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Just saw it last night, was one of the better movies this year that I have seen in theater. Above Stars Wars but right below Spiderman. I'll let you figure out the rest. Anyways, Colin farrel was great in the moive, should get an award IMO but probably won't. Cruise was good, not a big fan of his so that is saying alot. The CGI kicked ass, it didn't stick out it was..there, in a good way. The little jokes where good too. But, I would have done the ending differently. Personally, it was too speilberg to me. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but i think that it could have been better. Still on a sale of one to ten, i give it a 8.5
Guest Nostril king Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 I didn't like minority report....too much over acting (prison guard, agatha the cog, the plant lady) lame
Guest chirs3 Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap*
Guest godthedog Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* wow...we actually agree in opinions on a movie.
Guest wwF1587 Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 I was very impressed with Minority Report. Id reccomend it to any sci fi fans or anyone that likes a good who dunnit mystery thing.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 O-VER-RATE-D! *clap clap clapclapclap* Snicker. This coming from a guy who loved The Mummy Returns.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Loved? Did I ever say loved? I said I enjoyed The Mummy Returns, for all its stupid check-your-brain-at-the-door action. I never said I loved it. Feel free to scroll to the bottom of page 1, maybe it's on 2 by now, to read my review of Minority Report. [/shill]
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 I did. Too bad you missed out. Go watch The Mummy Returns.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Go watch The Mummy Returns. Just did. Too bad you missed out.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 There is nothing to miss. Nice try though.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 There is nothing to miss. Nice try though. I could easily say the same about Minority Report, considering it's paper-thin, but... What exactly is it that makes you think Minority Report was a good movie? Was it Cruise's... stellar acting skills? [/sarcasm] Was it... *stifles a laugh* edge of your seat action sequences? Or was it the predictable story that was touted as "Orwellian"? *can't stop laughing*
Guest Shaved Bear Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 ok which movie looks worse Juwanna Mann or Like Mike, I'm gonna vote for Juwanna Mann
Guest chirs3 Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Juwanna Man looks worse. Like Mike seems like a decent kids movie - looks a few steps above "Air Bud II: Seventh Inning Fetch" (which I have not and will not see - I can tell from previews of that movie that it's godawful get the kids to shut up for an hour and a half while they watch it crap).
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Ummm.. everything about Minority Report was better than The Mummy Returns. Cruise put in a better peformance than anyone in that film, and the story had intelligence, unlike The Mummy Returns, which was about as complex as a video game.

Cruise put in a better peformance than anyone in that film, and the story had intelligence, unlike The Mummy Returns, which was about as complex as a video game. You see, now you're putting words in my mouth, CHUD. I didn't say Mummy Returns was better, nor did I ask you to compare them. You're trying to make me look bad. Tsk tsk. For the last freaking time, I KNOW The Mummy Returns is about as shallow as a kiddies pool. I KNOW the story is thin and full of plot holes. I also KNOW it was not a serious attempt at filmmaking - it was made to be, and ended up being, FUN. Minority Report is not necessarily a BAD movie. The problem is it doesn't live up to what it claims to be, or what everyone else claims it to be. It's also thin and predictable, though not nearly as much as Mummy. Cruise's character is a completely one dimensional role, so the critics saying he should be rememebered this Oscar season are really REALLY off. It's an action thriller with dull action, little thrill, and it pretends to be smart when it's not.
