Video Game Desert Island draft

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I know it's not as good as some of the other games in the series. But I've played this more over the last two years than any other game during that time. I do like it quite a bit.

And looking back, that's what he has on the post.

My next pick:

27-1.jpg

Donkey Kong (Game Boy, 1994)

A great puzzle game that has kept me entertained for many, many years.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I was going to pick that! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

TMNT2boxNES.jpg

Why this version and not the arcade? Well, I didn't even play the arcade version until '95, by which point it had been out for like six years. It doesn't hold any special memories for me. But the NES version does, because my brother and I used to rent it all the time. And it has an extra level and awesome Pizza Hut ads which got it featured on the HBO special "Buy Me That Too."

I hate DDR, but that's a great pick up

And while games like TMNT 2 and Smash Brothers are great I dunno if they'd hold up since you're only doing one player mode

I'm going to take

51G6TTFK9NL._AA280_.jpg

Polarium - DS

and

Pikmin1boxart.jpg

Pikmin - Gamecube

so that I can catch up with everyone else.

EDIT: Damn, not including the word "New" on the front page for Separate Ways' Super Mario Bros. pick probably fucked over a lot of people..I mean, it says DS but doing a quick scan I didn't see it and was about to pick New Super Mario Bros. myself.

DDR was taken already by Jer in round 9. Although there are so many versions you could probably argue for it being a different game somehow, I'm sure.

I'm going with:

Elevator Action (Arcade)

Incidentally, every game on my list without a platform listed is an arcade game.

I'm changing my pick, I forgot Jer picked DDR already and we already agreed we're not going to do multiple versions of one game:

Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp

Simpsons_Bart_vs._the_World_NES_ScreenSh

The Simpsons: Bart vs the World (NES, 1991)

The Simpsons platformers have always been shit on, but I've always liked this game.

Final Fantasy - Origins Remake (PS1, 2002)

final-fantasy-origins-2.jpg

FF1 got me into RPGs, and I've spent more hours playing it than any other RPG. And while I'm nostalgic for ineffective attacks and 10 minute potion buying sessions, the remake for the Origins collection is a great improvement.

And for the record, the best party, unquestionably, is Fighter, Fighter, Black Belt, Red Mage.

Since Gert T officially went on the clock 12 hours ago (1:46 am CT), I'll go ahead and make my pick:

Shadow_over_Mystara_fighting_Dark_Elves.png

Dungeons & Dragons: Shadows Over Mystara (Arcade)

I need a beat 'em up on my list, so why not include one with diverse characters, RPG elements, and multiple paths through the game (with multiple endings)?
