Guest humanoid92 Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 Dashboard Confessional. Anyone else like these guys? Say what you will about the music, but if you listen to it the lyrics are so heartfelt and depressing. It's easy to get into and relate to if you're in a certain mood. Thoughts?
Guest Anorak Posted June 22, 2002 Report Posted June 22, 2002 I've never listened to them but i've heard the name, they're an Emo band right? Do they sound similar to bands like The Get Up Kids, Rival Schools or Jimmy Eat World?
Guest Incandenza Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Melodramatic, self-absorbed bullshit. What he said. Do they sound similar to bands like The Get Up Kids, Rival Schools or Jimmy Eat World? If all those bands sucked ass, then yes, they sound similar to Dashboard Cofessional.
Guest Nevermortal Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 The guy writes some ok lyrics, but really, its just music with absolutely no balls whatsoever.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Sorry. It's some of the worst music I've ever heard, period. Artifice and bad poetry masquerading as deep art. Watching them open for The Strokes and Weezer is going to be pain, though it might be worth a few laughs.
Guest Incandenza Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 As much as I dislike that "Screaming Infidelities" song, I hate the video even more. I hate that sensitive little pussyboy face the singer keeps making in the camera. I really wanna clock 'im whenever I see him. (This, by the way, is not coming from a macho man metalhead, but from a guy who likes Belle and Sebastian.)
Guest JaKyL25 Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Ouch, I really didn't expect Dashboard to take this much of a beating. I personally love Dashboard Confessional, and while it might be Melodramatic, self-absorbed bullshit. , dammit I like it on the "Hey, I can relate to this stuff, this guy knows how I feel" kind of superficial level. And no, I'm not ashamed to like things on that level. So, in closing, Melodramatic, self-absorbed bullshit. OWNZ YOU! P.S.--Since when does music have to "have balls" to be good? Get in touch with your inner angst-ridden teenager, guys!
Guest Kinetic Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 Teenage angst is no excuse for being a humorless pussy.
Guest JaKyL25 Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 No, it's not, but what's wrong with being a humorless pussy?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 23, 2002 Report Posted June 23, 2002 I'm a little scared to say this because of the reaction...but I like Dashboard, I thought their unplugged show was excelent. As long as you know before hand that they don't rock hard at all it's very enjoyable. One Smark's opinion.
Guest justsoyouknow Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 You mean the Unplugged show where the lead singer just played the acoustic guitar and had the audience sing the majority of the songs with him joining in on the choruses sometimes? If you want an excellent Unplugged, you'd be asking for Nirvana, but that's off-topic....I can't listen to Dashboard Confessional because whenever I was...um...with...my ex, I would always complain about her hair being in the way, and then she was like, "Oh, I heard this song on the radio....." and now every time I listen to it, I think of her, which is dumb, because I dumped her and I don't know why it makes me sad......
Guest Incandenza Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 I can't listen to Dashboard Confessional because whenever I was...um...with...my ex, I would always complain about her hair being in the way, and then she was like, "Oh, I heard this song on the radio....." and now every time I listen to it, I think of her, which is dumb, because I dumped her and I don't know why it makes me sad...... Why, you're Dashboard's target audience!
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Speaking of hair, I'd much prefer it if the "your hair is everywhere to meeeeee" line in "Screaming Infidelities" was played up a veiled reference to the fact that Mr. Dashboard chopped up his girl's hair and pasted it to the walls of his house in a psychotic fit when she dumped him. What? If you're going to be a humorless pussy, you should at least be scary. DANZIG 4 LIFE! Ahem. Back to my cave.
Guest Insanityman Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Well I hate them and I agree with Edwin. (Well I've got something to say... I killed a baby today, etc). Danzig and the Misfits is good stuff, unless your refering to his rock band, meh.
Guest justsoyouknow Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 I might be their target audience, but I still think they suck.
Guest Coffin Surfer Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 What? If you're going to be a humorless pussy, you should at least be scary. DANZIG 4 LIFE! Ahem. Back to my cave. You know, always thought Danzig had a great sense of humor with the Misfits. It was a dark campy sense of humor(or as I like to call it, Evil Dead funny). But it was still a sense of humor.
