Which Sport Is In The Best Shape?

I said his GAME in general is boring, not the game going on around him. I find that those can be quite entertaining. Don't peg me as anti-basketball: I love the game but I think, personally, the game was better played back in the 1980's and early 90's than todays game. Read this, which really hits my opinion of him on the head.

Shaq does not ruin basketball. Hes a good role model to kids.

 

I mean I'm not saying his the most entertaining person on the court, but hes not the worst person to watch on the court.

And just because you think he's exciting doesn't mean anyone else does, either. I just don't find it entertaining to watch 7' 1", 350 lbs guy push and shove his way through the defense to get a goal. If I wanted to see that I'd watch football. Again, I like the 80's-early 90's basketball that is quick, fluid, and, to me, very entertaining. Shaq, who is big, slow, and ungainly, doesn't fit into my ideal basketball situation. I don't really see how he is a good role model, but if you can give me some of the stuff he does, I'm open to convincing.

If other fans didnt find him exciting, than why are Lakers the most watched team in the NBA?

 

I mean Shaq knows his weakness, and he works on it. Thats why he is vaslty improved in the Field Goal area.

 

I mean I'm into a fastpaced game, and Indiana/New Jersey Game 5 of the NBA Playoffs 1st Round was quite possibly one of my favorite games ever. With my boy Reggie showing the old Reggie, and taking it to Jason Kidd.

 

Shaq, helps out the mentally dissabled, and takes time to talk to the fans, espically the kids.

Los Angeles is the 2nd largest city in the US, the Lakers are the 3 time World Champions. Big fan base right there.

 

Still, I rarely ever see him take a jump shot from more than 5' away from the basket. He had to improve on his free throws, because the only way the other teams can stop him is fouling him and hoping the career 50% FTP kicks in. Better only one point than two.

 

Yes, and that is what I really enjoy about basketball. You like Reggie Miller, eh? Awesome 3-point man. I like the Pacer's coach Isiah Thomas. Great leader for the Pistons back in the day. Used to watch him all the time.

Can you imagine a 6-foot NBA point guard who:

 

 

couldn't shoot from beyond 10 feet?

had hit one 3-pointer in 10 years?

had no handle?

had a negative assist-turnover ratio?

averaged less than a steal a game?

shot 53 percent from the line for his career?

missed five free throws per game?

couldn't make a spin in traffic?

couldn't shoot a left-handed layup?

couldn't play defense 15 feet from the basket?

 

 

Shaq, can't you improve upon your 53 percent free throw shooting?

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, Diesel, the guys with real skillz -- the Speedy Claxtons, Steve Nashes and Troy Hudsons, as well as the Iversons, Kidds and Kobes -- can do things you can only dream about. And I don't know how to break this to you, but they're not lying in bed at night saying, I wish I could be a 7-1 fat guy with no real game. I mean, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but every time I play pickup ball, I see five guys who've got more game than you do -- guys who can shoot pull-up Js, guys who can pick pockets, 40-year-old guys who pass behind their back like nothing.

 

 

Same piss poor argument everyone uses. Shaq isn't 6'1 and Shaq isn't a point guard. For someone with no game, Shaq sure can dominate one. The Steve Nashes, Speedy Claxtons, Troy Hudsons, Iversons and Kidds may not lose sleep thinking about having Shaq's size, but I bet they wish they had Shaq's rings. Also, the guys with no skills haven't been half the star that Shaq has been. Bitching about Shaq's size is pretty stupid. He has the size, but he knows how to use it. Who the hell thinks that Paul Wight would be able to do what Shaq does?

Why would Shaq take a jumpshot, when he can dunk it and get a easy point? I mean if i were his size, I'd do the same thing. I dont blame him.

 

And look at it this way, how many kids, you see roaming the streets with there Lakers #34 jersey? Problay the second most likely jersey to spot on a kid, with the 1st being the new wizards mike jordan. And LA can watch the Clippers anytime.

 

Yes, I am a huge Reggie Miller fan. He always provids entertainment for me. One of the best clutch shooters also.
