Guest HBK16 Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Is it true if you play that song backwards you can hear him say something about being with Satin?

Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Ah Stairway to Heaven, most overrated solo of all time :-) Late Beatles songs and some John Lennon songs are said to do that. YVAN EHT NIOJ

Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Serious answer: Yes, in a way you can. Around the "yes there's two paths you can go by" part, if you play that whole general part of the song backwards, you hear somthing that can be construed as saying "Ohh, here's to my sweet Satan." But at this point it's veracity for you is ruined, because knowing about it beforehand will trigger your self-persuasion and even thought it ahrdly sounds like that you'll still justify it to yourself that he said "here's to my sweet Satan." You need either an old record or Cool Edit or the like to reverse the sinewave.
Guest Doomsault Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Why do you consider the Stairway to Heaven solo overrated? It is an excellent solo and in my opinion, very hard to play. Not flaming, just a question.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 If you knew the pentatonic scale, it is rather simple to play. Many people say its the best because it was and still is the most played song in exsistance. Hell its not even Jimmy Page's best solo either
Guest swan Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Is it true if you play that song backwards you can hear him say something about being with Satin? Wasn't this covered back in the 80's?
Guest swan Report post Posted June 24, 2002 If you knew the pentatonic scale, it is rather simple to play. Just becasue it is simple doesn't mean it's not good. Sometimes keeping it simple is more powerful than something complex.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 In my opinion I still thinks its crap, I mean its good but the novelty wears off and you look at it and say "Man it sucks"

Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 25, 2002 as far as the backmasking goes, thats all relative. Theres a couple of different things it could be passed off as saying. Example: "Yes, my sweet Satan No other made a path though it makes me sad there's power in Satan." or "Want to eat Satan You are a little child but it might be bad In an hour I'm Satan" if you listen to it and think about either one of those, that's what you'll hear
Guest godthedog Report post Posted June 25, 2002 "Want to eat Satan You are a little child but it might be bad In an hour I'm Satan" is it me, or might those be the scariest lyrics ever?
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 25, 2002 come to think of it, they are kinda fucked up... I've never actually heard the Zeppelin backmasking described as saying that though, it was just something I made up to demonstrate my point
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Wasn't Jimmy Page really into black magic and the occult?
Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Page was a big Aleister Crowley enthusiast. At one point, JP even lived in one of the houses Crowley had lived in. I remember reading somewhere that whenever the band would stay over at Jimmy's house, they were scared shitless because, supposedly, the vibe was very dark and weird presences could be felt, especially in the attic, where Crowley had partaken in a lot of his rituals. Jimmy was the only one who would sleep up there, since the whole thing fascinated him.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted June 25, 2002 It's a good solo... Just everyone thinks it's the best ever when in reality it's only moderatly good.
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted June 26, 2002 The song is good in a whole, but when you pick something apart, the chinks in the armor are usually seen.
