Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I notice a guy who's REALLY down on the card who seems to get praise is Lance Storm. Why? Can someone point me to matches I should watch to see why this guy hits such a high note here? I find that his wrestling matches are Benoit Lite, and his stone-faced personality is not interesting in the slightest. Yes, I know that's his gimmick, but it's crippling him. IMO, either they need to remove the stick up Storm's ass (which would probably face turn him) or give the fans a legitimate reason to hate him, and pulling the same old Canadia crap we've seen 80 times now in wrestling won't cut it. So.... Enlightenment, anyone? My ears are open....
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 23, 2002 the stick up storm's ass is his entire gimmick, hes the serious type . his work is very good, and while i cannot point you to any matches, one of the reasons he is so over with smarks is his accessibility. he always answers questions on his website [http]www.stormwrestling.com[/http] and is just a generally cool guy. of course he is also a solid worker, and has a unique charisma that is simply very cool. Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I realize he was blantantly ripping off Bret Hart, but the early part of Lance Storm's WCW career was an amazing run. He was SOOO over, but they killed that at New Blood Rising with that abomination of a match.
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I find that his wrestling matches are Benoit Lite And Chris Benoit's are Dynamite Lite, but still. I didnt see much of Storm's work until ECW, just sure tape traders with ECW tapes and buy the matchs with the impact players. His SMW match, Thrillseekers (Storm & Jericho) v. The Heavenly Bodies was pretty damn good all things considered (Jericho and his broken arm). His first run in WCW capturing and renaming 3 belts - US, Cruiser, and Hardcore - was pretty damn impressive. However, Lance himself has said that his Pro-Wrestling WAR days are the best, and if the other WAR matchs I've seen are any indictation - i'd be inclined to agree. So, in other words, go to Lance Storm's Site, go to the commentary board, and ask him what are the dates of his finest battles. You're Welcome.

Guest gthureson Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I like Lance 'cause he played for the volleyball team for my alma matter, Wilfrid Laurier at the same time I was there. For a year, anyway. Then he left to do that wrassling thing. That, and I like dry humour. They need to let him bust out stuff like 'Thats as legitimate as a three-legged donkey...' more. Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I would like to suggest the ECW matches that made me a Lance Storm mark. Lance Storm joining the Triple Threat Storm as ECW Tag Champ with Candido Storm vs Shane Douglas.......the orgin of "I'm from Calagary Alberta Canada" catch phrase Storm & Credible confronting Douglas during the "I'm hanging up my boots" promo Lance Storm vs Jerry Lynn - the 1st time the half crab move was used, in its awesome glory before it bastardize by WCW and WWF Lance Storm in WCW as 3 title champ - S.H.I.T, 90 kilos and under, Canadian Heavyweight Champ and Lance had the coolest hair in the business back in the day........The Rat Tail

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Lance will never live that picture down in my view. "The original Thrillseekers, Lance Storm, Mark Madden, and Chris Jericho. Madden was the high fryer until his knees went."

Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I liked Lance when I first got ECW back in the day. The first night I watched, he introduced Dawn Marie Bytch and wrestled Candido. I was into the Impact Player gimmick somewhat, but once the guy entered WCW, I was a full-out mark for him. They did it so perfectly. Tagging with Kidman, turning on Kidman, winning the tourney out of nowhere, then two more belts, building to a match with Booker for the world title, and then...they killed him. Reguardless, Storm was one of the only reasons I watched WCW before Vince bought it. Here's hoping the Canadian push gets him somewhere.
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Can I be serious for a moment? I like Storm because he executes all his moves well. His workrate is amazing and, whether they let him win or not, I think he puts on entertaining matches. I also feel the same way about Venis, though, and everyone else seems to hate him. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Lance is one of my favorites, obviously. *points at sig* I like Val, too. His character sucks, but characters can be easily ignored when you want to. Both of them bring it in the ring, and put on decent to great matches. -Shiro
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I have an autographed picture of him sitting right next to me. He's from Calgary(my place of residence my whole life), he's trained by the Harts, I know him away from just being "THEE LANCE STORM", and he's a nice guy. HOORAY FOR LANCE! I liked the guy in ECW, but when WCW came around he was the shit. Period. Really, he was the ONLY reason I watched WCW before Vince bought it out.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 watch lance storm in ecw and you will see why the guy is so loved. he has amazing talent, and he also busts his ass everytime he has been in the ring. he hasn't really impress much in the wwe but how can he since he gets a 3 minute match on smackdown every two weeks. if he was pushed you will see what the hype is about because he can go in the ring with the best of them. Guest gthureson Report post Posted June 25, 2002 I like Lance 'cause he played for the volleyball team for my alma matter, Wilfrid Laurier at the same time I was there. Storm went to Laurier? Sweet! I go there now!! Yeah. Apparently, he didn't get along with the coach, decided he wasn't having any fun on the volleyball team, so packed his bags and headed out west to be a wrestler. And the rest, as they say, is history. I think he only attended one year, maybe two. 1989-90, I think. 1990 was my freshman year, and I believe he was still there. Might have been 1989 though. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 25, 2002 The first time I really got into Lance was Barely Legal 97 vs. RVD. He showed to be a good transition guy...but his chair shots were SO INCREDIBLY WEAK that I became enamored with him. The post match also included 1 of the 2 best RVD promos ever.
