That's a good point. The Marlins have some tough series coming up as well with the Cubs and the Mets. I think this is a critical time for them.

I was watching Secret Life of the American Teenager, my new favorite show.

Funny thing, I got caught up watching it as well. Kinda confusing at first but I think I get the premise of the show now.

Fuckin' Bill Hall. I'm really starting to dislike that guy.

He found his power again. He was awful the first half of the season, but if he keeps hitting game winning home runs, I don't think Brewers fans will care about that.

Adam Dunn Fun Fact: 39% of his hits this year are home runs, just think about that for a second. Roughly 44% of his hits are singles, Adam Dunn is virtually as likely to hit a HR as a single in any given at bat.

Before his first AB on Friday, FSN Cincy had a stat that showed he was 6 for his last 26, all hits being homers. He has homered a couple of times since then, but I think he got a few non-homer hits in there as well. I'll do some quick research.

Edit---From July 6-18, Dunn was 6-27 with 6 home runs. Since then, he is 7-17 with 2 home runs.

The Washington Nationals are refusing to pay their rent, citing incompletion of the park. They also want $100,000/day in damages going back to opening day. This whole organization is turning out to be an unmitigated disaster. They haven't had their shit together since 1993.

I'm telling you if The Expos were going to have to move, they should have moved to the Norfolk/Hampton Beach/Newport Roads area. Fastest growing region in the country and no other professional sports teams. Could have been huge. Washington strikes me as more of a football town (IIRC- The Senators had attendance problems for most of their run there) and the baseball fans that are there seem to lean more towards The Orioles.

1994 was their big year.

I'd say they're the Clippers of MLB, but I think that might actually be underrating their horridness (if that's even a word). You'd be hard-pressed to find a franchise anywhere in sports that's been afflicted with quite this much bad management and bad luck over such a period of time.

I counted the 1994 strike as when the wheels started flying off the Expos. But yes, what a complete mess. I wouldn't even say there's bad luck involved, only bad decisions.

Has there ever been a better second half/worse first half hitter than Adam LaRoche? I'm sure there are other terrible first half hitters who turn it on late, but this season is basically an average one for his career. He hit .160 in April, hung somewhere around .250 in May and June, and is now pushing .400 for July. He regularly struggles to hit .200 until about mid-June, but his season average always tends to end up at something respectable like .270. How long until someone grabs him and just leaves him in the minors for the first 3 months of the season then brings him up for the playoff push?

Brett Myers has a no-hitter through 1 2/3, but still managed to blow a 2-run lead in the process. How does this man have a starting job?

The Mets were up 2-0 after the 1st inning where Myers walked everyone under the sun. Maine blew the 2 run lead. Apparently Shane Victorino is now Babe Ruth.

It's obvious watching this Cardinals/Brewers series that STL can't really compete with Milwaukee without making some sort of deal before the deadline. In fact the way the Brewers are playing they have to be favored to win the NL.

Brewers vs. Angels in the World Series? What a bizarre series that would be, especially considering in 1982 that was the ALCS.

The Cardinals will make a deal. If they've gotten this far with that pile of crap, they can afford to make a big move or two.

And that's what really matters, television ratings. Because we're all network executives rather than baseball fans.

As if you needed any more evidence that he was on a tear, Delgado slashes a two-RBI double down the left field line off of lefty specialist J.C. Romero to give the Mets a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth.

One of the best wins of the year if they hold on.

I'm amazed that the Mets are in 1st place today. The last 60 games are going to be tough, but it seems possible that the NL East could be won with 88 or 89 victories.
