Best wrestling game you've played

Recommended Posts

Guest goodhelmet

I was just playing Fire Pro D for Dreamcast and it has to be the best wrestling game ever. I've played No Mercy and WM2000 for months. I bought Giant Gram and got bored after a couple of weeks. I've had FireProD for about 8 months and I'm still playing. That's lasting power

Fire Pro Wrestling Premium X I had that on my cpu for the last 4 years and played it atleast once a week.

Now the new Fire Pro on GBA has taken it's place.

is there a Firepro D emulator for the computer?  or is it worth it for me (a No Mercy professional) to blow 100 bucks on a dreamcast and the cart?

I haven't found an emulator yet for Fire Pro D.

first thing, getting into Pro D will cost cash. The Dreamcast can be found for dirt cheap but the game runs close to $60-70 American. You also need a DCX disc to play the Japanese game. Then you want a couple of VMUs to save the countless amount of wrestlers you can create. You might want a nexus card to download the hundreds and hundreds of characters available on the net to save time creating, not to mention the downloadable moves released by Spike every week.

The game options are phenomonal. 8-man tags, 6-Man Tags, handicap, barbedwire-lightbulb hardcore matches, electric exploding cage matches, 8 spaces available for creating belts and defending them, create a wrestler, round robin , elimination tournament, and the list goes on!

I've played WM2000 and No Mercy religiously but i don't play them anymore. they just got old once I discovered Firepro D. The graphics and language barrier may scare you at first, but the gameplay and depth is phenomonal. I haven't played many games since.

Do they actually have PC emulators for individual Dreamcast games?

As goodhelmet said, getting into Fire Pro will cost more than $100. The Dreamcast retails for $50 nowadays, but unless you find & download the ISO, you'll have to shell out around $70 for it. Throw in the cost of a boot CD (luckily, I managed to CloneCD my friend's boot disk) and the multiple VMUs, and you're at the $150-$170 range.

Still, it's a hell of a lot of fun. I basically bought my DC solely for playing this and Soul Calibur, and it was well worth it. Just download the translation guide from GSWF, and check out the Fire Pro Club Forum at ezboard.

And if you're unwilling to shell out the $$$ for it, or if you just want a taste of the Fire Pro games, download a GBA emulator and the Fire Pro A rom. Details in the "Fire pro d. vs. no mercy" thread elsewhere in this folder.

I personally like Virtual Prowrestling 2 the best out of all the AKI games.  I haven't played any of the Fire Pro games, so I can't comment on them.

No Mercy. I haven't stopped playing it since I purchased it.

I played Fire Pro Premium X on the Znes emulator and while I found it entertaining for awhile, I just wasn't as amazed with the gameplay as others have. After the novelty of seeing moves that are pretty much never used in the WWF, I got bored of it.

My two favorites are Wrestlemania 2000 and Firepro D. Nothing else comes close.

No Mercy, the game is still fun to this day, and no recent WWF game has been able to top it.

WCW/NWO Revenge

I played this game for ages.  I still occasionally play it.  I know No Mercy is an updated version, but Revenge had the most well-balanced roster, with a large number of cruisers, power wrestlers, and technical guys.  The big problem with No Mercy is that everybody pretty much wrestles the same.

I'll throw in with WCW/nWo Revenge as well, with WM2K coming in a very close second.  Revenge plays faster, has a more interesting roster, and still has all the basic match elements.  No Mercy would be here as well, but playing very slooooooow ladder matches and basically just throwing weapons all over the place got a little tiresome.

Fire Pro D is great, and I'm addicted to Fire Pro A. Does anyone know if AKI's new game is coming out in the US?

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium. It took awhile to adapt to the system, but once I did, I instantly fell in love with the game.

I like WCW Revenge, too.  My friends and I would see what really gay tag teams we could get the titles when I first got it.  I think the gayest team we ever made was Yuji Nagata and Stevie Ray.  It's a game that brings back lots of memories because I'm not suprised anymore when I see a game.  When I saw Revenge I was like "Holy shit!".  Now when I see a game I just know that the controls are gonna eat my ass.

I like No Mercy a lot.. but I also like SD JBI as well.  I just wish the tables didn't suck.  No Mercy's announcer table was awesome.

At present, I'd probably go with Fire Pro D as my favourite game.  If No Mercy wasn't such a slow game (I don't understand why VPW2 was so smooth and No Mercy ended up so slow) I'd probably say that was the best.

All time, I'd probably go with WCW/NWO: World Tour.  I have fond memories of that game back when I was sixteen years old playing eight player round robin tournaments with my buddies on a Saturday afternoon.  As we got older, we just lost interest.  I'll never get a chance to re-live those memories.  :(

I'm surprised no one's mentioned All Japan Pro Wrestling: King's Soul for the PSX.  Or am I the only one who really got into that game?  :)  I thought it was great and I still play it quite often to this day.  Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 was also a tremendous game from the masters at AKI.

Fire Pro D, had the game since it was released (Still play it every day). From tweaking my CAW's logic to the new moves each week, (Shubain is Awesome! ) it keeps pulling me back for more.

Where can I get this Fire Pro D?  I don't have a Dreamcast, so is there a way to get it without one?  What extra things will I need to buy to play it?

Well, since I have never played a fire pro game I am going to have to go w/ no mercy.  Even though the game play was horribly slow when there was more than 3 guys in the ring and there was a lack of masks (they have ALL of lygers moves in that game and NO lyger outfit/mask, its BULLSHIT).  However, it is possible to create some of YOUR favorite superstars from japan, so thats good.

You can have 'great matches' with this game so its appeal (for me) is endless.

Hey I am going to say Fire Pro D because the game is just amazing. I have over 600 wrestlers on my game right now and I cannot get tired of it. Kawada is the man in the game. I just wish someone would make the CZW roster for me and I could download it.

I'd say VPW2.  I haven't played Fire Pro D, but I did have Super Fire Pro Premium X or whatever and I loved it as well.  No Mercy doesn't cut it for me b/c of the damn slowdown and that glitch.....not to mention no masks in CAW.  VPW2 has the masks, no slowdown, better AI, more wrestlers, more moves, different styles (wrestling, shoot, martial arts), shoot fighting matches, better career mode.  No Mercy does have better graphics.....woo hoo.

I laugh at the guy who says he made a "gay" team of Stevie Ray and Yugi Nagata.  Yugi Nagata could work circles around most wrestlers in the world.  You want truely gay?  Pick Lodi and Alex Wright or Bischoff and Riggs (any combo of the 4)

Giant Gram 2000 - best graphics ever in a wrestling game at the time it was released, the entire AJPW roster plus legends, and the coolest idea for a CAW system ever (your wrestler learns moves by sparring with other wrestlers)

After that, I'd go with Fire Pro D, but I barely touch the Dreamcast any more.  But someday I'm going to update my moves (last thing I downloaded was the Last Ride, I think.)
