Guest sargent Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I'm looking to buy a comp of the quality matches from all those Colisseum tapes. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 i've never heard of one. it would be an interesting tape if made though because there are a few hidden gems on the older coliseum tapes that need to be seen.
Guest Daredevil21 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I could most likely make a pretty badass CV comp. I have over half of the tapes that they put out, and I have access to about 20 others besides that. Get back to me, and I'll see what I can do.
Guest TheScholarlyLion Report post Posted July 4, 2002 I have most of the ColVids (or the notable matches off most of them, at least) and was thinking about making a tape or several. Post any specific requests here, and feel free to go nuts. I think the only matches I really want that I don't have are the uncut version of the Santana-Valentine cage match (Grudge Matches), a better VQ copy of the Savage/Adonis vs Santana/Sammartino cage match (Inside The Steel cage, which I have the entirety of only it's bad VQ), and the Bret-Shawn cage match (from Bret "The Hitman" Hart). Anything else decent, I most likely have.

Guest reverse knife edge Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Funny you should ask. Here's the match/skit list for my coliseum video comp. I'm legitimately proud of this thing. Sorry for the breathless sell job but it's the matchlist I wrote up for selling it on ebay (where the bidding topped out at $40 once). Anyway, here it is: 4 hrs. of old school WWF action. Great matches, hilarious bits from the old TNT show and more. Excellent video quality throughout. Here's what ya get: Jimmy Snuka vs. Magnificent Muraco (cage match) How's that for a hot start? This is the bloody MSG cage match from '83 that featured Snuka nailing the Superfly leap from the top of the cage. Watch the crowd as Snuka checks out the cage before entering and you'll see a young, skinny Mick Foley making the Snuka "I love you sign." Hulk Hogan vs. The Iron Sheik (title change) The Hulkster's first WWF world title win. This includes the backstage celebration with Andre the Giant and even has Hogan cutting a post-match promo with his parents! Before the match you'll see the very end of Backlund's title loss to the Sheik. Hulk Hogan vs. "Dr. D." David Schultz This is a fantastic brawl from 1984. Hogan takes on Schultz in their old AWA stomping grounds of Minneapolis, MN. Both guys juice. Jimmy Snuka on Piper's Pit The most famous edition of Piper's Pit ever. Piper mocks Snuka's island heritage then smashes a coconut over his head and whips him with his belt before running for cover. Jimmy Snuka vs. Roddy Piper ("Fijian" strap match) Never televised. They both beat the crap out of each other with the strap. And can I just say that Roddy Piper's selling back then was absolutely hysterical? King Kong Bundy tries on wigs! A hilarious segment from TNT where Vince convinces Bundy to try on a series of horrific wigs, upon which Lord Alfred Hayes bursts out laughing Hulk Hogan vs. Magnificent Muraco (cage) Sure Hogan's matches are formulaic but I've found they were much more entertaining back during the early part of his first reign. Say ... 1984-86. Nice match. Both guys juice. Andre on Piper's Pit Classic Pit goodness. Andre the Giant vs. Killer Kahn (stretcher match) From 1981, I think. This was the blowoff to the feud that started when Kahn "broke" Andre's leg. Andre finishes Kahn off with about 10 straight BUTT drops o' doom. The hanging incident Muraco & Fuji go on TNT to gloat about their attack on Ricky Steamboat. They show footage of Steamboat being hung over the top rope by the belt from his karate outfit. Muraco's particularly hilarious when defending his actions to McMahon here. Ricky Steamboat vs. Magnificent Muraco The blowoff to their excellent 1985 program. Both guys juice like a mother. Pull apart brawl at the end that sees Steamboat break Fuji's cane in half then grind the sharp end into Muraco's forehead. Jesse Ventura talks to his public I cannot do justice to this bit. McMahon goes into the audience to let the fans ask questions to TNT guest Jesse. An old man named Phil Burke gets up and his question is literally impossible to follow. So of course, Vince asks him to repeat the question a number of times. Jesse is completely at a loss. Trust me, this will make you laugh every time you watch it. Dick Murdoch & Adrian Adonis vs. Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson (title change) Solid match that sees the heels go over clean. Murdoch & Adonis were both excellent workers at this point. Hulk Hogan vs. Roddy Piper (The War to Settle the Score) In many ways the peak of the whole Rock n' Wrestling angle that Vince used to bring the WWF into the mainstream. It originally aired on MTV. You've got Cyndi Lauper at ringside. Bob Costas as the guest ring announcer. And when Paul Orndorff and Bob Orton join Piper in a Hogan beatdown, Mr. T is there to make the save! Frank Williams: Best Jobber Ever This is my all time favorite Piper's Pit segment. Frank Williams, he of little charisma and even less offense is brought on the show "out of the kindness" of Piper's heart. After we discover that Frank has some sort of speech impediment (accent?) Piper beats the crap out of the hapless jobber for having the gall to stand up for himself. Poor Frank. Roddy Piper vs. Paul Orndorff This took place after Wrestlemania I and Orndorff's face turn. Piper's selling in this match is beyond belief. After taking an Orndorff kneedrop, he starts shaking and sputtering uncontrollably as though he's having a seizure of some sort. Absolutely priceless. Randy Savage vs. Tito Santana (title change) And so the age of Savage began. Excellent match that Savage wins with the ol' foreign object down the trunks. This is Your Life Nikolai Volkoff A great segment from TNT that plays exactly like the old ‘50s TV show. Watch as Nikolai squirms when confronted by his "sister," an actress with an incredibly bad Russian accent. She accuses Volkoff of stealing her ballet school money to buy his hideous burgundy pinstripe suit. Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage A Hogan title defense from 1986. Savage was Hogan's best opponent. They worked really well together in '86-'87. Did I mention Savage wins here? Don't get too excited. It's just by countout but nonetheless ... Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat An awesome match from Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens. This predates their classic Wrestlemania III encounter. **** match. Magnificent Muraco on acting Genius stuff from the TNT show. Muraco & Fuji come out and take abuse from McMahon and the TNT audience for their attempts at acting. You'll see such classics as "Fuji General," "Fuji Chan" and the duo's take on a western. I can't emphasize enough how funny this stuff is. Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase A terrific cage match from Savage's run as WWF champion. DiBiase bumps like a madman. Wrestling Observer's 1989 Annual actually lists this match as one of the 100 greatest of the 1980s. Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Orndorff (The Big Event) As close as this feud ever came to a blowoff match thanks to an injury that put Orndorff out of the biz for a few years. This encounter took place in front of 65,000+ at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium. The Worst Thing You've Ever Seen Well, maybe that's overselling it. Let's just say that Slick rapping his way through the hit single "Jive Soul Bro" takes the cake. Unbelievable stereotyping in this segment. Wrong on more levels than I can count. Kinda catchy though. Koko B. Ware sings "Piledriver" It's kind of hard to live up to the level of excellence set by "Jive Soul Bro" but this video tries its best. Watch in horror as Hulk Hogan and your favorite WWF Superstars dress up like construction workers and catcall the babes. Watch Arnold Skaaland try to act. Watch Vince McMahon do his best double take as a girl in Daisy Dukes walks by. Frankly, you should bid on this video if for no other reason than to get "Jive Soul Bro" and "Piledriver."
