Guest HBK16 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 It's just a fun little question that me and my friends were talking about. I would like to see how it goes here. Get Rid of: Cletus- I can't stand the guy. Rod and Tod- The Simpsons can do fine without them Never ger rid of: Carl and Lenny- The Simpsons won't be the same without them
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 God, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but: RALPH. his novelty act has worn thin with me, he wasn't even that funny to begin with. NEVER GET RID OF: Milhouse. Probably the best secondary character in the show.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 24, 2002 God, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but: RALPH. his novelty act has worn thin with me, he wasn't even that funny to begin with. Yes... you are. Opinions are opinions... but are you fucking insane?! Okay... I'm done. Get Rid Of: Snake, I guess. *shrugs*
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 You can't get rid of Ralph. He is one of the funniest side characters. Well atleast in my opinion.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I would not object to seeing Dr. Nick, Cletus,Rob&Todd, Mrs. Lovejoy, Snake, Barney (Worn out his character) Velma and Selma....That's about it. If they kept the minimal it coul be fresh again.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Velma and Selma, definitely. I never thought they were funny.
Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Who the hell is Velma?
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I think he meant Patty. I say keep them all. The population of Springfield is a massive comedic machine, one that needs all of its parts to work perfectly. Maude Flanders was an extra sprocket not being used, so they dumped it. Now, if you want best secondary character, that question is also impossible to answer. I'll be safe and say 42 as my answer.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 24, 2002 PATTIE and Selma could go without breaking my heart. The Comic Book guy is only funny in tiny doses. DR Hibbert can only stay because Homer has more trips to the hospital to make. Kent Brockman can go...he's probably the biggest character they could knock off. Guest caboose Report post Posted June 24, 2002 This harder than I thought. All the characters add something in their own way.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Excuse me for my mistake...I have twin aunts Velma and Selma...I must have gotten them mixed...Happens alot since they are similar...always telling my mother that she married the wrong guy (yet my mom has a big famliy, money & happiness) Velma and Selma just chain smoke and Slut around. You could also knock off the other old guy Grandpa is always with (does he even have a name) and do the Sad Grandpa misses his friend story (if they haven't already)...This might seem extreme but lose Nelson. He can't keep going "HA-HA".
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted June 24, 2002 You mean JASPER???? No way! He's GOLD! "I accidentally shot you yesterday, and I'd like it if you didn't press charges, but I hit you in your wooden leg." "You shot who in the what now?" And Nelson's claim to fame, which I want on a bumper sticker BADLY: "Gotta nuke somethin'."
Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Patti and Selma did have one particularly funny bit. It was in the episode where the asteroid was about to hit Springfield. After the asteroid crumbled and everyone came out of the shelter, Patti or Selma said something like: "It really makes you appreciate the preciousness of life." Or something like that. Then they both simultaneously took a huge drag off their cigarettes. I always liked that one.
Guest Perfect Plex Report post Posted June 24, 2002 God, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but: RALPH. his novelty act has worn thin with me, he wasn't even that funny to begin with. I am going to kill you. Well, actually, I'm not. But you can't get rid of Ralph! His cat's breath smells like cat food! People to get rid of: This may be even more ludicrous than the Ralph idea, but am I the only one who thinks that Bart hasn't been funny in about 8 years? Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Snake? No WAY dude! I could live without Bart. Actually, without Lisa, Maggie and Marge too.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I really don't think Marge would be missed...she's never had two funny moments, she just takes up space where they couldn't come up with anything funny to do. You cannot lose Jasper...he only gets like 4 lines a season anyway. Perfect is right about Bart...he just hasn't been funny in the longest time, but you can't whack Bart. They're hardly ever at the school anymore...so they could kill off the entire staff there...or Skinner's mom. Since so few side characters make it in every episode none of them dying would make a great impact.
Guest DrEvil Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Get Rid Of: Snake, I guess. *shrugs* And then who would hold up the Quickie Mart, who would Cheif Wiggum not see holding a gun to someone, who would give Homer evil hair. Snake rules, a great bit character. For most likely to go, I'd say Principal Skinner will finally snap and knock off his mother; that's if I don't get to her first But if one had to go, I think Barney would have the least impact on the show. He's really done nothing since he's sobered up. BTW, Granpa's name is Abraham, but he had to pull off his underwear (without taking his pants off) to remember that. Guest Karnage Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I never found Principal Skinner's mother funny at all.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Its hard but I would go with Sideshow Bob since its played out already with him and Bart. Professor Frink should go too, and I like Doctor Nick and his illegal practices.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Principal Skinner's mom was great when she dated the Comic Book Guy.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 i agree about the stupid old dude from the retirement homewho gets way too many lines on the show.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Agnes Skinner is perfect, because she keeps Seymour in his anal authority figure nerd character and is there to provide the stereotypical old woman. "My tongue isn't as wet as it used to be. Could you lick my fingers so I can turn the pages?" "How about I just turn them?" (Bart reaches for page) (Agnes slaps his hand) "NO!" I've said it before and I'll say it again, every character has a reason to be there!! The only one I can actually almost agree with is Ms. Hoover, but you need a second Edna Krabappel type for Edna to talk to and such. Besides, Lisa needs a teacher to point out glaring faults of assignments to. Bart hasn't been funny sure, but for being the person who pretty much got the show off the ground through shock value, he needs to stay. Marge will always be perfect, because she has moments that belie her housewife image, like dreaming of the Six Million Dollar Man or Jack Nickalus. Oh, and when Shelbyville put drugs in the Springfield water supply, she was the one who showed the effects, in a HILARIOUS manner.

Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Homer. The mans act wore thin 4 years ago. Whatever. Seriously, has Lisa ever been funny? Ever? She always came off to me as an annoying vegan bitch.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 lisa has had some terrific lines, and her character show some real humor when parts of homer come out in her and she acts a little too much like a simpson. she has chilled out a lot since the beginning of the show but she is the conscience of the family IMO and it is her job to rag on the family.
Guest Anorak Report post Posted June 24, 2002 She's supposed to come across like that, her attitude has always acted as a key foil for other characters to be funny by pissing her off. I think the time has come for the show itself to finish, its more than run its course and is a pale shadow of what it used to be.
Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I think the time has come for the show itself to finish, its more than run its course and is a pale shadow of what it used to be. I agree. The show should've bowed out gracefully about two seasons ago. But 95% of what's on Fox is a heaping pile of rat feces, and the Simpsons still brings the ratings, so there you have it. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 wasn't there a quote on the simpsons 138th episode special where troy mcclure says something about fox running the show until it is no longer profitable?
