Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I found a tape of 1992 Great American Bash where there was a Tag Tourament for the NWA Tag Titles. Steve Williams and Terry Gordon were already the WCW champs after beating Steiners for them. Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes were partners, Rude and Austin were partners...Pillman and Liger were partners and Steamboat/Koloff were partners but what confuses me...I recall Windham turning on Rhodes when Steamboat/Douglas beat them and that spawned the Hollywood Blondes...what else am I missing from this era? Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 That specific match you were talking about... Dustin and Ricky were doing an Irish Whip spot, but on the leapfrog from Ricky, Dustin didn't duck under and actually ended up nailing Ricky in the nuts. When Dustin didn't capitalize, Windham yelled at him, giving Ricky time to make the tag, and then Douglas capitalized and pinned Dustin. This led to a couple of tag matches that were kinda weird since Windham was going back to his heel ways in his matches, and then finally, he just turned on Dustin. B4 that, The Texans defeated The MVC on Saturday Night in a SUPERB FUCKING MATCH that I still think is one of the best I've ever seen. Of course, then I see some of Benoit's shit...but I digress. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted June 25, 2002 For a while Dustin Rhodes was my second favorite wrestler in WCW(Sting was of course number one). Thanks.
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Oh, but you got to admit that he pretty much blatantly ripping off his father. That's what I really didn't like...
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted June 26, 2002 I just watched the match in question, it was so obvious that Windham was in the right anyways. Windham was beating on Steamboat so they could retain their titles. Had Rhodes just shut up and let Windham win the match everything would have been fine. Dustin was STUPID and let Steamer make the tag and Douglas got the pin and they lost. If my partner had just cost me a title match because of his stupidity, I'd have kicked his ass too. You can always tell in Windham is turning heel by his facial hair, I've never seen him clean shaven as a heel, and when he has a facial hair as a face he always turned heel soon afterwards. Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Windham was the bomb in Phatoms, yo... Wait a minute. Oh, he was the bomb in 1989. I thought we were just talking about one specific moment. He kinda deteriorated by the time 1992 rolled around, but he still pretty damn good.
