How could anybody possibly get the idea, that Foley was going to be at the show?

I didn't say they were, but you said they were stupid for not delievering him.

I said they were dumb, and they were. If you imply a guy is going to be there, and he isn't, you're basically saying fuck the fans. Which isn't something you don't want to do, to people who paid 30 bucks, believing they was going to see the official debut of one of the biggest stars in the business. It was dumb, nobody should be defending TNA for this bullshit either, it was a dumbass move on TNA's part.

Ahh, I don't really go to the TNA website, where I assume that's from, so I didn't see it. Either way, to me, if they really wanted to imply that Foley would be there, they would do more than post a picture on their website that not many people go to.

Maybe Foley just wanted us to have a good Sunday. He is a pretty nice guy.

It's still false advertising. But it's false advertising done in a sneaky assholish way so that if they're called on it, they can just claim they never SAID Foley was gonna be there. Yet any wrestling fan who's been watching for more than a couple years will take one look at that ad and instantly make the Foley assumption. Truthy's right on this one, that's some fraudulent bullshit right there.

It's the same deal as the Jericho hinting of showing up at this show and that show late last year by WWE......while in either case, it wasn't officially said to happen at so and so time, you knew the guy was going to show up eventually.

If they were going to actually have Foley show up, it would have been more obvious. To me, that doesn't say he will be at the ppv for sure, it's just a tease that he could show up at anytime.

----

Anyway, some quick thoughts on the ppv last Sunday......definately was one of the more throwaway feeling shows of the year, both in the build and the execution. None of the matches really were worth checking out upon a second viewing, really. It was a hot crowd though, for the most part. The Jarrett stuff was exactly what I expected, and I didn't quite understand what the point was of the whole Sting appearance anyway. Seemed like he just re-did his promo from Impact from a few weeks back.

I was actually surprised for the heated response for the MMA match........while working a MMA style is tough and sometimes risky, I thought they did alot better than most have done in the past. But WOW, talk about the fans being pissed about it. Then that finish.......again, WOW. Guess that was an experiment that will not be done again, at least I hope. Pretty funny how the cameras were showing close ups of people chanting "This is Bullshit" and "Fire Russo" like they weren't even trying to hide it.

Pretty much, all of the title matches were average matches to a tee, nothing special there at all.

The MOTN was probably the Lethal/Dutt ladder match, a few spots I've never seen before in a ladder match. They did the finish I was hoping they wouldn't do, which just means this feud is going to keep going, ugh.

More than anything, I was surprised the work on this show wasn't better than it turned out being.

Yeah, it's not like having a Foley's trademark smiley face, some barbed wire, and his catchphrase is that obvious.

Christ.

What I mean by "obvious" is them saying something on, ya know, their actual show, that he would definately be at the ppv......Foley hasn't even been so much as namedropped on Impact at all, much less suggested he was going to show up, via the TV promotion.

Nothing in that whole deal from the website said "Foley will be at the ppv" although it was HINTED he MIGHT be - keyword, HINTED. And MIGHT. If that whole thing said "See you Sunday!" I could see how one could rip a new asshole into the company, but this is far from "false advertising."

Come on man, they didn't have too say anything that image was enough. It was false fucking advertisment, and if you're saying that image doesn't basically say Foley was going to be at the show, you're a liar. Stop defending this fucking company, even when you know they're blatantly wrong. If Foley wasn't going to be there, they shouldn't have used that image to sell the ppv, plain and simple. Anybody that says otherwise is just dumb or is wearing blinders.

You missed the memo when RedJed was appointed TNA apologist.

If you really think that, then you don't see most of my posts. I try to be as fair as possible, with both TNA and WWE. When they fuck up, or when they do something right. Fuck, did you even read my thoughts on the ppv? I didn't like it at all. Quite frankly, I think it's bullshit that seemingly if ANYONE says ANYTHING positive about TNA here, then we are tagged as "apologists." Get off your own dicks already.

I wouldnt have expected Foley to be there unless they said something on Impact about it.......and since they didn't, I wasn't let down.

How is this different than that No Mercy tease last year for Jericho showing up? They're both one of the same......TEASES. Not GUARANTEES.

The backstage angle with Salinas was done because she's quit the promotion, and Jackie never opened her mouth because she lost four teeth at a recent house show.

Any word why she quit? I was trying to find some news on that, havent had any luck so far.

Ouch, four teeth....damn....

I can absolutely see how you can rip TNA apart for doing that. As it was about as transparent and obvious a "clue" or "tease" as possible. But in order to be "false advertising" it really does seem like you have to "advertise" Foley a bit more than just a very heavy implication. Which is certainly how I'd categorize that, at least in my mind. But the way they did it WAS about as close as you can get without saying "Foley will be at the PPV."

I'm not sure the point of arguing what amounts to semantics and I'm not sure why the need to declare it "false advertisement" or not is enough to warrant enraged arguing and insults, especially when everyone seems to agree it was deceptive and worthy of criticism. Its just a fight over the term used to criticize TNA with.

I definitely anticipated Foley from it and was disappointed to not see him. I never felt he was "promised" so I didn't feel ripped off, but he was clearly teased and to that end it felt empty. Especially after Angle said he had a surprise for Jarrett and nothing came of it.

Nothing in wrestling is a guaranteed. I don't think that's the bone of contention here. It's that they advertised, falsely, that Foley would have anything to do with the PPV. And while everyone knew it would be Jericho that would be unveiled as the man behind those save us videos, the WWE actually didn't intend it that way. I think TNA would be hard pressed to explain that what they put up on their website wasn't meant to be an advertisement that links Foley to the promotion. Scroby's comment about Foley just wishing us a nice day is funny and all, but in reality, this was a transparent attempt to jack up more buys for the PPV, with no intention on delivering.

In part it's because there are plans to split up LAX and she isn't happy about it. She wouldn't even do the angle to write her out, hence her not even being shown on camera.

I thought she quit because she wanted to do a movie, but she would've dropped the role, if TNA offered her more money.

I thought the story was that she got an acting gig that conflicted with TNA and wanted a pay raise to stick around and turn it down? It sounded like the same idea as the Gail Kim incident and the bunch of other Knockouts who were hired a year ago coming up for renewal. Of course Salinas isn't even a wrestler so within that category she seems about as undeserving for a pay raise as any of them.

That is indeed why she quit, don't have any idea what HTQ is talking about.

Shelly "Salinas" Martinez is through with TNA. She quit the company.

It was announced during tonight's No Surrender pay-per-view broadcast that Jacqueline had attacked Salinas backstage. That's the storyline reason for her departure from the company.

Martinez was recently tapped for a role in an Italian film that would have conflicted with her bookings for TNA. Reportedly, she offered to give up the film role if TNA increased her pay, but they refused. As a result, she handed in her notice to the company. Her contract was due to expire next month anyway.

TNA may have tried to get her to come to the pay-per-view and/or TV this week to finish the storyline, but when that didn't happen, they simply said that she was attacked off camera.

But before this news broke, another website I read posted a blog with the headline "cryptic blog" by Salinas on her myspace page.

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...logID=432957564

Anywho, this blog is about choices. Sometimes in life you find yourself saying "I have no (sic) choice" and you follow your heart even if it seems at the time you're heart may be breaking when you do follow your heart and commit to it. I made a big decision recently and when it is time to talk about it I promise I will have a follow up blog explaining. I care about all my fans and appreciate your support. On a good note, when you find it's time to close a door, another door (whether you're looking or not) opens right up and I've peaked inside and decided to open it and walk right in LOL"

Salina confirmed her film, with an updated blog. She added this.

Starting tomorrow I will be begin to film an Italian inspired thriller. I had rehearsal yesterday and my costar and I have great chemistry together so it will be grand!! YAY!! I am working on having my camera guy shoot some behind the scene for my new site!! Yes, I am disappointed to lose something important to me for this role but at the same time change, scary change, always seems to lead to bigger and better things. I will keep you all posted, until then remember no matter what 5150 LAX por vida!!!!

I was listening to the Observer radio show that covered the PPV. Meltzer said part of the reason, but not the entire reason, was she was unhappy over LAX being split up.

Damn, I was hoping she was going into porn....

I think she did at least one film. Possibly with, or directed by, Jewel De Nyle. I can't tell you how I found this out because I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure I heard it somewhere.
