The Office Season 5

Not hot.

I actually liked this one a lot. I've had debates like this with co-workers; I think our subject was Gwen Stefani (not hot). Of course, it wasn't as in-depth as the Swank Summit tonight, but it killed a slow day at least.

And is it me or is some sort of showdown coming between Michael and David Wallace? I think as the season winds down Wallace offers him a corporate position but Michael realizes that he isn't the type that's cut out for the cutthroat corporate world (he's too sentimental for his employees). The fact that Amy Ryan is coming back probably means that Michael has to choose between Holly and New York.

I enjoyed the fax machine conversation where Michael basically told David off. I suspect I'm not alone in this, but I immediately knew there would be a reveal that the war Dwight was talking about was LOTR. It was the 'good kind' of predictable joke because it was the fact it fit in with Dwight's established character that made me know it was coming.

I suspect Climatology pal really enjoyed the rain cloud joke.

I recall thinking Swank was hot when I was 13 and she was in The Next Karate Kid, but I guess I would go with the "attractive but not hot" side of the argument. Big cans, though.

Just so I'm following along here:

They spend too much time doing zany things like driving into lakes and going to weddings. What does that have to do with typical office life? Do more mundane office building plots! Season 2 was great!

That episode wasn't very good.

Oh man, Casino Night was great! I can't wait for Jim and Pam to get together! Conflict with Roy! What's going to happen? EXCITING!

Everything being resolved is gay. They should have slowed that down until Season 7. Jim and Pam suck.

Hooray internet.

No, it is the fault of the internet. These people are busting their ass giving you free entertainment. Internet users always want more, more, more and nothing is ever good enough. Matt Groening learned this long ago.

This was a bad episode, and I love me some Office

Not really, Brody.

They're obviously building up to a huge Super Bowl episode, so the last two episodes have just been about getting there, and finishing off the Dwight-Andy-Angela triangle.

I like when they do the mundane slice of life in the Office episodes, and it was cool seeing Michael being portrayed as a human being and not as a wacky asshole.

While I thought Season 3 was a step below Season 2, Season 4 was fantastic.

So you would have it where there are no critiques of anything on TV because its free?

Or would you choose to draw the line just short of people disagreeing with your opinions?

This might be my least favorite episode of the series. The whole Swank debate went on way too long. I did like the subplot with Michael having to unwillingly put the Prince family out of business, but I was surprised that he didn't wind up Michael-ing the situation.

And what was up with no mention of the cancellation of Andy/Angela's wedding? It wasn't mentioned at all on the episode. I know they're probably going to continue that story, but you would think that would have been at least mentioned or alluded to at some point.

What was Michael's line about "live and let live" to Dwight. "It's from James Bond"?

Michael Scott: Just live and let live.

Dwight Schrute: What?

Michael Scott: Live and let live.

Dwight Schrute: I'm not familiar with that expression.

Michael Scott: It's the James Bon--

Dwight Schrute: It doesn't make any sense. Of course, I'm alive...

Bobby from what I have gathered from around the internets most people are agreeing with me.

I think those people are wrong. The Michael plot was much better than last week, and I'm interested to see where the Michael-Wallace plot goes.

I like the episodes where the office comes up with ways to amuse themselves- like Office Olympics

Ditto. "Those people" are expecting drop-dead non-stop hilarity each and every week the show is on. It's not feasible. This show is just as much about average people in an office as it is a comedy. I, for one, love these types of episodes. The gag with Michael helping the little girl with her math homework was classic.

That had me laughing.

I'm still not sold on this episode. It just felt like a throwaway.

Was anyone bothered by Stanley caring about the hot ot not argument? I think he had a talking head about living life without wasting enjoyment time or something, but my buddy was blabbering on at that point.

"You'd just fall in love with her."

"So what if I did. Then that wold take precedence and I would expect your support."

After watching it again, I can enjoy it a little more. The Dwight/Michael storyline has a few nuggets I missed the first time around.

"Laughter is my job, tears are my game, law is my profession."

Michael's story was way better than last week.

Overall not a bad episode at all, but not a classic. Oscar going to great lengths to point out how imperfect Swank's face is was the best part of the episode for me

And after Michael made a comment about how hot she was I was expecting Dwight to poke his head out, look at the pictures and disagree

I'm kinda surprised they didn't have somebody on the pro-Swank side of things bring up that Oscar likes dudes, therefore his opinion shouldn't hold as much weight as somebody who'd actually fuck Hilary Swank. Then again, Kevin pointed out that the debate was "Is she hot?" not "Would you do her?" so I guess that's why.

Yeah, it's downright criminal to be looking forward to a new episode of a good show more than a regular football game that gets overhyped. Whoopie-do, someone threw a ball but the pass was incomplete! Haven't seen that before.
