So I'm going to RAW next Monday...

Recommended Posts

So I'm attending Monday Night Raw next Monday, September 29th, with my dad. I shelled out and scored 4th row tickets.

What I'm looking for are any tips or advice: what is a MUST DO at these events? Other than trying to be on TV, of course. Also, I haven't been watching for the past several months (it got boring to me), so any storyline catchups would be much appreciated.

(Also, if a moderator believes this should be merged into CTDWAT, feel free.)

Twooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to get on TV, bring a fairly generic sign for someone who isn't going to have a lot of pepole bring signs for them. I got on Nitro in 2000 just for bringing a sign that just said "New Blood." And if you want to get on TV and enjoy the show, tape or DVR it and check if you show up latter instead who looking a the Titantron the whole time. Plus you get a way to relive the experience.

- Bring a video recorder

- Throw shit at the wrestlers

- Drink alot (from a flask, not from the concession stand)

- Hold up a sign that says "fuck"

- Charge the ring during Batista's match

-Spit in the ring

-Chant "Satan"

-Bring your daughter

I saw a guy do this once. It looked like he was escorted backstage before the matches even started! Maybe you can do this and meet all "the boys".

Seriously, though, just have fun without being obnoxious. Cheer the faces, boo the heels. Get into it.

I say cheer for who you like, but don't be a dick and just cheer for all the heels, esp. if you're by little kids. My personal rule of thumb is that if you like any of the faces about the same as the heels, be a good guy and root for the faces. Otherwise it's fair game. For example, I couldn't root against Jericho in his current fued.

Slow clap during restholds. Cheer good moves.

I also like to try and give an extra good pop for the midcarders I like. I looked like a total dork, but I marked out like a little girl when Rob Conway came out during a Raw I went to in the summer of 2006.

Overall, if you're shelling out money to attend a live event, try to turn your smarkiness off and just go with the flow. The most fun matches are those that split the crowd 50/50, but that rarely happens, esp. that Cena is out.

I've also made the mistake getting too drunk before hand and being too out of it to really enjoy the experience. If you like to drink, get a little buzzed if you want. Honestly, I've had the most fun at events being totally sober. Maybe I'm just too much of a mark, but I'm always in awe whenever I see any WWE "Superstar" live.

Overall, you can ignore my ramblings, just do your best to have fun.

I can relate, except for me, it's The Hurricane/Gregory Helms. TOTAL Helms mark.

(And the fact that SD was in Milwaukee and I *JUST* missed his comeback to the ring pisses me off beyond all belief. Perhaps I'll head up to Green Bay for the MNTV debut show next week...)

I got on local news when I got high 5'd by Al Snow after his Heat match when I saluted him with a beer during his entrance and made him laugh by calling him "Avatar" and "Leif". I was in the 3rd row with 3 of my friends right at the end of the row, so all the wrestlers heard me when they came out. Lillian and Earl Hebner got a kick out of us saluting them with beers too.

Anyway, to the question at hand, try not to be an asshole (or at least, too much of one) and have fun. And yell for Evan Bourne to do a Cyclorama for me, will ya? Ever since I saw that on YouTube, I've been desperate to see it on TV for some reason.

This is a perfect time for a Charlie Hass sign or even a Honk-a-donk meter sign.

Have you heard of any matches being advertised before hand?

One time I got a group of little kids who were sitting next to me to turn on Todd Grisham. It wasn't intentional, but before I knew it, they were screaming for him to die.

CHARLIE

"_____ "

HAAS

or "Who Haas Charlie Been?" would be perfect signs, I think.

Bring a sign that's perfectly acceptable on one side, leave the back blank. During the middle of the show walk right in front of the hard camera, take out the big permanent marker you brought, and write on the blank side: Benoit didn't do it, I DID. Hold said sign up, watch hilarity insue.

I'm going to the Seattle Raw and I'm considering bringing a Honk-a-Meter sign. My seats aren't great, though, because I didn't find out about the show until just last week, so it's probably not going to matter either way. Still, I'm just glad we're even getting a Raw, Jesus, how many years has it been?

I heard if you have a sign with one blank side, they won't let you in with it.

Tape 2 signs together, with writing on each front. Then you can cut them apart and have 2 blank backs to work with.

I suggest "The IWC Needs To Get Off Santino's Jock". Or maybe something Jamie Noble related. Or HHH bleeding in a vulnerable position.

Dark match main event is Batista/Mysterio vs. Jericho/Kane.

Should be a fun show, I havent been to a Raw taping since the Eddie Guererro tribute show so looking forward to it.

I have family from Smithfield, NC and Shane used to date my cousin, April. He came to my house for Thanksgiving in 1994 when he was just breaking into the biz. All I remember was making fun of his ring name (Kid Vicious). He was a cool guy. He was still dating my cousin when he was in WCW but they broke up a couple years after he signed with WWE.

So if I'm not mistaken this might be the first Raw in Minneapolis since I went to one in 2003. That was a fun night,I'm pretty sure this was the night there was a dark match with Brock and Shelton Benjamin coming to the ring with Jesse Ventura and Brock actually pulled off the Shooting Star Press.

I was there too, that was a great Raw all around, that was a good dark match, wish I could remember the opponents for Brock and Shelton? I'm drawing a blank but I think it was some significant guys.

The main event was Jericho v. Austin, and I think Benoit v. Kane or Big Show also happened. This was just a few weeks after Heyman got control of the book (or at least heavy influence) and was coming off the heels of Benoit/Jericho beating Austin/HHH for the belts.

Sadly, with the exception being the Eddie Guererro tribute, that was the only Raw that has even came to Minneapolis until this time around. We've had plenty of Smackdown tapings here, though.

ha,yeah.I went to one of them, the whole Billy and Chuck wedding was here. The day it was taped was actually my 18 birthday and I remember telling people I celebrated by 18th by going to a gay wedding.

If it's the match that aired on OVW TV then it could be the Disciples of Synn that faced Brock and Shelton (the Minnessota Stretching Crew.)

I don't think I've ever mentioned this but the last time I went to Raw, I had front row seats. Teddy Long, who was managing Rodney Mack at the time, was right in front of us for Mack's match, and as his man took control, Long turned to me and yelled "What do you think you that, you white motherfucker?"

It was awesome.
