Hey, what happens to SOS when your opponent's not there? You fixed that glitch where teams who got a free win got credit for playing as tough of a SOS as possible by giving the opponent 1 point less than their score, didn't you? It seems like it's only fair to give them the same number of points as the worst team playing that week since there really was no way they could lose and they actually had an easier schedule than the person playing someone who only got 3 picks right.

It's the same rule as it's been the last three years. I assign a replacement for the Saturday games and whatever those picks score for those games is what you get for points against.

Three possible no shows this week is a bad sign. Here are the replacement pick assignments for tomorrow, if necessary. Replacement picks cannot win by tiebreak.

Georgia - The Monkey Man

Kent State - Cartman

Washington State - Broward83

Both Hawk 34 and Mecca picked Cincinnati for tonight's game. Obi Chris Kenobi, JHawk, and MrRant still have until Noon EST/9:00 AM PST tomorrow to get their picks and tiebreaks in.

Bored, I'm sure you would fix this later anyways, but the tiebreakers should apply in my matchup because there's an even number (6) of differing picks.

Yeah I shouldn't have dug myself that hole. I had to win 3 out of the 4 differing matchups, and it looks like I might only win 2 at most (if Navy hangs on and Wisconsin smashes Ohio State like I expect them to later tonight). The ironic part is I was waiting till the last possible minute, as apparently Edwin was also doing, to a. be sure I didn't have any last-minute gut feelings like I did last week with OSU, and also because it seemed he was doing the same thing so I figured he might have been playing my picks if I wasn't careful. Then, I completely forgot to pick on Thursday!

I've got 3 of the head-to-head wins I need this week. One more and I win this week's game.

(Illinois, Free Shoes U, and Navy all won, while Ole Miss came up short)

If Vandy, UConn, or Top 5 Mizzou win, I win this week.

Of those, Vandy is leading and Mizzou is heavily favored.

Nah, I don't check my opponent's picks before posting. The couple times I did that the first year or two I always got too cute and lost. I usually just wait till Thursday evening to do them so I can check the last injury reports and the lines.

Looks like I'm gonna give Monkey Man his first win, cuz Ohio St. and Wisconsin can't get in the end zone to save their lives.

That leaves Cartman as the last hope for a winless season this year. I lucked out that my original opponent no-showed because I only win thanks to the 2-0 point break I got. Next week will be a much more formidable challenge from Mecca.

So after looking at it...

#4 Georgia Tech (iggymcfly, 4-1) vs. Fresno State (Agent Bond34, 4-1)

GT: Michigan, Cal, Air Force

FS: Illinois, ASU, Navy

2 out of 3 correct on the different games.

Not bad.

Well, if the Badgers can get that tying FG and send the game into OT, there'll end up being enough points scored for me to win the tiebreaker.

EDIT: And...NO.

That's a solid conference win at the very least. Also, beating the Grand Poobah of this thing is something to hang my hat on.

Before we get to the rankings, I want to point out Will Scarlet who despite picking fairly well but has a dismal 1-5 record due to his opponents picking a ridiculous 75% (63 out of 84) of their games correctly games against him which is far and away the toughest "strength of schedule." Obviously he needs to fire his defensive coordinator.

Scores were waaaaay up this week after last week's debacle, except for me because I suck. Even though #2 thru #5 all lost this week there wasn't a whole lot of movement in the polls. Hawk 34 didn't have a big week but he holds on to the top spot for now. After a lackluster win last week dropped him, undefeated Mecca made a nice jump back up the polls with a strong showing this week. Other big winner was traditional power teke184 who after being off the radar, has jumped into to the Top 10.

And finally, still fly (6-0) and Agent Bond34 (5-1) still can't get any respect from the "voters."

Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 6

MIAOH.gif

1. Miami of Ohio - Hawk 34 3.15

2. Nebraska - Mecca 4.0

3. Ball State - Vampiro69 4.8

4. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 5.9

5. Alabama - AlwaysPissedOff 6.15

6. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 6.2

7. Arizona - UZI Suicide 7.2

8. LSU - teke184 7.65

9. Arizona State - still fly 8.95

10. Indiana - Tzar Lysergic 9.0

Other Receiving Votes: Boston College (HarleyQuinn), Fresno State (Agent Bond34), Kentucky (Danville Wrestling), Minnesota (Vern Gagne)

I'm just like my team of choice under coach Les Miles...

I may lose a few games during the season, but I always seem to find my way into the Top 10 by the end of the season.

Yeah, I figured as such but I just don't like to take the chance especially because a lot of it tends to come from gut feelings for me which worked great for me last year; not so much this year, however.
