Guest Whatmaniac Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I have recently ordered the Super J cup from 1995 and while I am pretty sure the matches will be good, I want to know what the quality of the announcing team is like. Will it be as good as Jim Ross and Paul Heyman, will it give me a renewed appreciation for Michael Cole's talents. This is important to me because in my opinion, a bad announcer can drag down my enjoyment of any match. Am I worrying over nothing, or should I be prepared to watch the tape with the mute button on? Guest dr deaf Report post Posted June 24, 2002 understand japanese? If you don't then I doubt it'll make a difference. Didn't to me, I just sat back and enjoyed some really good wrestling.
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Right, ok, firstly all commentary on puroresu is going to be in Japanese, obviously, so it doesn't matter what they say. An announcing team in Japanese can be great when they go mental for moves, but it still doesn't matter what they say. Secondly, the Super J Cup 95 has no commentary at all, so it doesn't make any difference
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Which is all the better to hear Jericho with in his match with Benoit. That was classic. Can't blame them for not doing end like Benoit did on poor Eddie G. in BOSJ that year.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 24, 2002 You know, it took me until the 3rd match to figure out that there was no commentary I love Japanese Commentators...by that I mean Akira Fukuzawa. So much passion. An announcer brings 2 things to the table. Knowledge and Emotion. If you know the story and the moves you don't need the Joey Styles' of the world. Emotion is much harder to convey and is more important to a match. At least thats how I feel aboot it. Japanese announcers generally bring shit loads of emotion to a match, which is a change of pace from the sterilized world of Wwf announcing.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Which is all the better to hear Jericho with in his match with Benoit. That was classic. Can't blame them for not doing end like Benoit did on poor Eddie G. in BOSJ that year. "Come on you Mother Fucker" "Ahhhhhhhhhh Fuck!" "Are you ready?" "Yeah Baby" are indeed classic. I bust out laughing everytime I hear his high scream when Benoit Backdrops him off the apron. Jericho may have fucked up the Tiger Suplex, and helped fucked up the Supertombstone, but his emotion in that match, more than made it up for it.

Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Naniwa vs. Damien alone is worth it. If you ever wondered what Shang Tsung would be like inside a wrestling ring, watch this match.
