Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted June 25, 2002 I read an article at 411 earlier today that talked about how finishers are dying, and how people have been reduced to doing roll-ups more often than finishers. Now, I'm barely watching Raw, have it on in the background, and the two matches I've seen (Spike/Bradshaw vs. Harvard/Regal and Eddie/Bubba) have ended in rather shitty roll-ups. I'm all for it when it makes sense, but in throwaway jobber matches, can't somebody just lay down? Can't anyone do a finisher anymore? Oh well. I guess I have to buy PPVs to see those. Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Don't look now, last night the PPV ended with a rollup.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 25, 2002 finishers have been made redundant by wwe booking. wverybody has kicked out of everybody else's finisher. the mystique and kayfabe of finishers are dead, which is sad really, as rollups and other such shitty endings are a total anticlimax. Guest BlackRainbow1025 Report post Posted June 25, 2002 I'm all for seeing other moves get the finish, much like puro, but not just rollups. I did hate the whole thing where the match can't end until someone hits their finisher for the victory.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2002 This is a good thing. It makes near falls more dramatic. I think the Wwf should give their wrestlers more finishers, like Edge. And get out of this 'kick-wham stunner' mentality, because it really limits matches. It's ironic that submissions, logistically, should get the quick wins but don't, yet Finshers do. Vince, you so crayzay!
Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted June 25, 2002 the only legit finshers are The People's elbow (WTF!!!!!) and the Five Star, and man thats all this man can think of. Its pretty sad that about every body and there mother on the WWE roster uses the Superkick as either a finsher or ste up. Its kinda redundant to see Shawn Lay out booker T with a superkick and yet Lance Storm cant put away Randy Orton with one. WHAT MAKES SHAWN"S FOOT BETTA????? Guest Sakura Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Last Ride and Pedigree are credible.
Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted June 25, 2002 True True, i was making a comment on what finishes make the most wins when in reality they shouldnt. People's elbow? Five star with five second rest, if Val Venis did that with his money shot, everybody would kick out!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Nah, The Last Ride as the same impact as a superplex, and the pedigree is just a face buster.

Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted June 25, 2002 thats because val sucks, and rob doesn't Okay, point taken, BUT WHO'S GOT A BETTER GIMMICK BUDDY? yeah, i didnt get ya on that one either huh? Damn, well the point is that why do some sell for say an exposed turnbuckle shot, like RVD, and some just no sell it and hit offense, like HHH. Its just too unbalanced. If RVD hits the splash, it should be over, the same with Venis and anyone else who does a splash, establish the moves and then make them worth something. Plus, im really tired of seeing that damn superkick pop up everywhere!
Guest godthedog Report post Posted June 25, 2002 i think the pedigree looks legit because when it's done right, you're completely unprotected (i.e., you can't put your arms down to cushion the fall & the face and chest take all the impact). but it's rarely done right, trips always lets go of the arms so the guy doesn't get the wind knocked out of him (which defeats the move's whole purpose). a friend of mine gave a pedigree to some girl who didn't know how to take it right, and it knocked her unconscious. and if someone can't buy a last ride as a credible finisher, what WOULD they buy? anything short of a ganso bomb or a tiger driver 91? Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Any move can be credible if they have a context.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Eh, "magic bullet" finishers bore me. I think each wrestler should have three signature moves. These three moves won't necesscarily end a match, they are just the wrestler's favorite moves. Also, the WWE needs more stiff striking, their style is too soft. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2002 It seems that the 'new generation' have better move lists. Edge: Edgecuton, Edge-o-matic, spear, downward spiral, figure four edge lock Angle: Moonsault, Angle Slam, Ankle Lock, Germans Benoit: Headbut, Crossface, Germans Jericho: Breakdown, lionsault, walls of.. Test: Big Boot of Doom, Pump Handle, Elbow drop RVD: 5 star, Rolling thunder, split leg Val: Blue Thunder, Money Shot, Funky submission
Guest I Fear Hogans Air Guitair Report post Posted June 25, 2002 What about Jericho's Breakdown Now that's Credibility (Sarcasim). The only Fininshers Credibile is the ***** Star, Pedigree, Rock Bottom, F5 and the Last Ride. The Angle Slam Use to be Credibile now Fucking Edge and Hogan are kicking out of it as if it was a bloody 360 Stomp.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted June 25, 2002 Well, I've never cared about people no selling Jericho's finishers because he doesn't really have a credible one. The Breakdown was bad enough when Jarrett did it, much less Jericho's crappy version. Lionsault is a lame finisher, especially since RVD uses the split leg (much cooler) and it's a transition type move. The Walls is a mere Boston Crab. He outta use the Liontamer again or devise a new finish.
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted June 25, 2002 It's really sad seeing submission finishes pretty much disapperaring off the face of the WWF. Maybe Hogan tapping out will give credibility back to submissions... ..or not.
