Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted June 25, 2002 I say Hogan should job clean to Lesnar. Just make it seem like manslaughter when Brock manhandles Hogan and finishes him with the SSP to retire him.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2002 I gotta defend Hogan here. Ever since his arrival he has been jobbing to everyone. He allows himself to be mocked, he allows for his image to be tarnished, he has been making the effort to put the younger guys over. I don't blame the bad matches on Hogan, the guy was never a great wrestler and now he can barely move. To fault him for not taking a german suplex like the asses on the law do is just silly. The problem with Hogans matches is that they try to be the austin-style brawling when they should be the Hogan-style brawling. That is, they should tell a story and be filled with drama. Hogan is over enough for the fans to be patient and watch a story be told rather than the ADD-spectacular that the Wwf puts on each and every night. The Wwf is really missing the boat with Hogan. They could bring a greater sense of tradition to the Wwf and make the fans feel proud to be fans. But, they decide to do bald angles and all that bullshit. Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted June 26, 2002 If you think I was writing too much in the past tense then let me clarify the present situation. Yes, now Hogan does suck more or less as a wrestler. But his wrestling shouldn't honestly be taken too seriously now. He cant make people go "OOOHH" and "AHHHH" with his wrestling anymore, but what he can do is give people that certain twinge of nostalgia. Like "Wow, The Hulkster is still wrestling after 15 or so years." He tries, he really does. To be brutally honest the only reason why Hogan is in this business right now is because he draws bigger than any wrestler around. Sure he may not wrestle as good as your Kurt Angles or your Chris Benoits, but he is drawing and always will draw more money than them. No matter how phenominal of a wrestler they might be. Charisma draws more than wrestling. And Hogan has charisma enough to put even Albert to main event status. (No offense intended buffybeast, just an analogy) Hogan makes the WWE money, and that is why they are there. To make money. They aren't there to showcase the best of human physical acheivements, or acting that would make Shakespeare cream in his pants. They are there to make money, and Hogan draws in more profits than any other performer, that is why he is still around. I personally feel that Hogan lived out his usefulness about a month or two ago. He should have been The Hulkster for about a month or two, headlined one last big PPV, and then gone on his talk-show appearing way. Just to give the former Hulkamaniacs that twinge of nostalgia one last time, and then leave them satisfied seeing their hero in action one last time. Hulk Hogan: The man who conquered the world. Note: As to the accusations of being an asshole. Yes I am an asshole. I am stubborn, arrogant, and greedy. Anybody's differing opinion than mine is wrong. Have a Nice Day!! -SupaTaft
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Hogan takes up too much time on my TV, when other people who CAN take bumps could be filling his spot. He will never be forgotten, but it's time to pack your bags, and Vince should see this. Angle only got a "rub" because Hogan tapped. If Hogan were to do 1 more good job, I say Lesnar or Jericho. Maybe just Lesnar, because at least he hasn't been tarnished like Jericho has. And I'm no Lesnar mark, but christ if they're gonna push him to the moon regardless of fan reaction, then at least try and do it right. Oh and Buffybeast, I'm not so sure Kane vs Albert was a "good big man feud." Although I guess everyone has their own opinion. B)
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted June 26, 2002 HHH is gone for the time being and Edge is injured, so if Hogan leaves, who the hell would be the top babyface on Smackdown? If you guessed Bob Holly, give yourself a cookie. Would people pay to see Bob Holly? Probably not if they were sane. Thats the main reason why they should keep the Hulkster around. Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Hulkster has been put on a jobbing tour, his only win that comes to mind is beating HHH, and that was only beause the reign was such a disaster
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Why should Hogan be gone? I've said it thousands of times. He sticks out like a sore thumb. No, not every "mark" likes Hogan. I know personally quite a few that don't. Not every one of us smarks watches wrestling to blast it. I watch to see the guys I like..(RVD, Booker, EDDY~! on Raw, Lance, Val, Jericho, Angle on SD..), and because I still enjoy wrestling, even if there's a limited ammount of that some times. Yes, we bitch. It's hard not to..when guys like Hogan are still in the spotlight..and people like Kurt Angle..hands down one of the most..if not the most complete packages on the roster, are getting humiliated and jobbed off. Guys like Lance Storm languishing in the midcard, or not on TV at all. There are people like Keith who go and generally blast everything the WWF does, and that puts a certian bias on smarks. We're not all negative bastards. Ask anybody on this board why they watch, and they'll tell you nine times out of ten it's because they enjoy it. I understand there are Hogan marks out there, but that dosen't mean he should still be winning world titles, and hanging with the main eventers. Hell, Hurricane was getting some really nice pops (still is), but you don't see him winning the belt, do you? How about RVD..one of the most consistently over on the roster? Even though I begin to see Jericho isn't ME material anymore, he's still more talented than to be playing second fiddle to Hogan. I felt sorry for Kurt at KOTR, going out there and having to half-ass (or quarter-ass) it just so Hulk could keep up and not look completely pathetic. His "hulking up" and mannerisms worked in the 80s, but it looks so bush league now. It's been mocked (not too long ago, by the WWF themselves!) and overexposed longer than some people have been alive. Nostalgia is one thing. At WM that would have been fine. But lord, it's nearly JULY now. He'll still be around this time next year, more than likely. That's not nostalgia, that's clinging to a fading spotlight. When 80% of the roster has to go out there and dog matches just so the "biggest draw in wrestling" can look good..that's when I object. Smarks bitch about the Worm being bad. The People's Elbow being bad. That isn't somebody's entire offense. Hogan's offense consists of wind-up punches, weak lariats, no selling everything, and a leg drop that we're supposed to believe is on the level with the Pedigree or the Five Star Frog Splash? That's bull. To me, Hogan comes off like the dog that keeps coming around and won't go away. He should have retired years ago, but he's still around. He's GOT money. He's got the fame. What does he have left to accomplish? Nada. The only thing Hogan accomplishes at this point in time is being an albatross around the neck of the WWF. I didn't used to read SD spoilers, but I do now. I watch the segments with the guys I like, and I avoid Hogan's "matches" like the plague. (And HHH, but that's a different story). I'm apparently not the only one. They've said it's time for a change. Then damnit, make one. I'll take my RVD, Eddy, Angle, Jericho, Rock main events, thank you. It's time to let Hulkamania die once and for all. Until then, nothing will ever really change. -Shiro

That's not nostalgia, that's clinging to a fading spotlight. Amen, brother. Testify. A lot of people keep talking about this being "Hogan's last run" and giving him a bone for it, but does Hogan seriously look like he intends to retire? They already hyped up a retirement angle, which has since disappeared. They should have done something retirement wise at a PPV, like a rematch with the Rock. he could then go into a backstage/commissoner sort of role, where he might be acceptable and even help get some new talent over. Could you see a young guy being mentored by Hogan? Such an angle might work. But nope, he's still in the ring, wrestling like he's a credible threat to Angle and other guys who have more moves than Hogan's had comebacks. Of course, now that I've shot my mouth off, he probably will retire. jester
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Hogan should never Job again. If he is series about retiring, go out against Vince Mcmahon at Summerslam and call it a career. I understand putting over talent and all, but if the guy loses ever damn match, how important will it be. I say HYPE the last hogan match for 2 months, have him go on real Media everywhere to say"Yeah, this is it, I'm broken down and can't do it anymore" and let him go out the way he should. It not only would spark a buyrate(I don't care what anyone says, Hogan/Rock is responsible for that huge Mania buyrate.) and it would give the biggest draw ever his last hurrah. Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Its basically what I said a few weeks ago. Hogan gonna spend the rest of his career Jobbing to Main Event Upper cardsmen till he goes. Vince's way to give back to his Roster... Here's a Treat guys...espically you goes who was stuck in WCW in 96- On you get to take on Hulk Hogan..Ah but this time, you get to Kick his a##! Hogan better pray he never gets in the ring with Saturn or Benoit, they might Decide to Shoot and Break his hip or something.
Guest jester Report post Posted June 27, 2002 Its basically what I said a few weeks ago. Hogan gonna spend the rest of his career Jobbing to Main Event Upper cardsmen till he goes. It wouldn't surprise me if he went out on an injury, rather than deciding to call it a career. Yeah, he's not exactly a high-flying risk taker in the ring, but if Kevin Nash can get injured doing nothing more in the fed than combing his hair, Hogan can sure damage himself during a match. jester
Guest Perfect Plex Report post Posted June 27, 2002 B-b-but Nash's hair is so lovely! He looks like Mufasa. Raaaoooowwww.... "If that's his real hair, he must use VL5 Shampoo and conditioner, 'cuz that's fucking beautiful!"
Guest thefrenchargel Report post Posted June 27, 2002 Am I the only person that didn't like Hogan way back in the 80's? I was a little kid, and I though he was old BACK THEN. Plus I thought Savage and Warrior were way cooler.

Plus I thought Savage and Warrior were way cooler. Fuck yeah! I started watching in June 90 (holy shit, 12 years now...) And Savage and Warrior were my shit. I've never even come close at any point to being a Hulkamaniac. The only match I can remember rooting for him in was VS Rocky at WMX8.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 27, 2002 I've always hated Hogan. I was big fan Ric Flair and the 4 Horsemen. When I watched the WWF my favorites where Ted Dibiase, Mr.Perfect and Rick Rude.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 27, 2002 If Hogan is going to job to anyone like he jobbed to Angle then it should be Jericho. Jericho is damaged goods now, but a win over Hogan would fix that. Maybe not all the way but a good portion of it. Jericho could also get alot of his heat back if HHH would ever lay down for him but that's been covered already. Hogan should beat Vince (at some big ppv) and then after the match let him give his retirement speech. Then have all the wrestlers come out and applaud him and carry him around on their shoulders for a little bit. Then hit "Real American" and let him pose for five minutes. It will go over huge, Hogan will get the recognition and send-off that he deserves, and then he will be gone.

Plus I thought Savage and Warrior were way cooler. I never liked Hogan either. I didn't hate him, because back then you rarely saw him. They'd show a few taped promos, that's about it. because I didn't order PPVs, I think I've seen Hogan wrestle more TODAY (let's be generous and call what he does wrestling) than I ever did back then. My favorites from back then: Jake the Snake (pre-self destruct and bible-thumping days) Ultimate Warrior (ashamed to admit it now) Mr. Perfect I also liked seeing poor Barry Horowitz get jobbed out to everyone... jester
