2009 TSM Poster Tournament: The Round of 64

Recommended Posts

Czech, perhaps we should move these namedrops into the "The Brushes With Dubious Fame" from earlier this year in NHB.

I remember one day in Boston last January, where I had three brushes with dubious fame in one day. It was glorious. Sat a couple tables away from PTI substitute host and legend of Boston sports journalism Bob Ryan at Mike's Pastry, ran into former Last Comic Standing finalist and current Dane Cook buttboy, Gary Gulman outside of a comedy club, and saw Donnie Wahlberg at The Celtics game. It was a glorious day.

Did I click on "The OAO Namedropping Thread" by mistake?

I smell some pruning.

Noooo. Retarded digressions are what make Poster Tournament threads fun. Remember that one last year where we all watched How High? Good tinmes.

It's true. I hope we can recreate that dubious magic this year.

As for more votes, there are still a lot of close races on the board, so certain posters may need to go out and Matt Young the vote, get some support from friends who may have missed this thread, or total strangers. I'm looking at you, Vitamin X.

Such as "Remember that one good post Byron made?

That was a good post"

47) Resurrecting the Champ

That was one of the most unintentional funny movies I've ever seen, mainly because of Samuel L. Jackson and because I drove by the filming of the movie and saw Samuel L. Jackson and yelled out my window when I saw him, "YEAH THEY DESERVED TO DIE, AND I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL!!!!", and Sam Jackson looked at me and smiled. It was the greatest moments of my life, my daughters birth comes 2nd.

If we're all discussing lame brushes with fame, I spent between an hour and two just talking shit with Chad Michael Murray, while we were both camping out to get a Wii on release day. Mostly talking about Buffalo. He seemed like a pretty cool guy that night/morning, but most everyone else I know that's met him(and that's just about everyone in this town) says that he's normally a dick. Hell, I didn't even know who he was until someone else told me.

That's about the only celebrity interaction I've had, but I've seen plenty around here, since Wilmington IS the #3 spot in the US (Hollywood and NYC being top 2, of course)for movie/TV filming.

I once talked briefly with Saul Williams-good guy. I didn't have the heart to tell him I don't like Zach De La Rocha though.

I had Ra Ra Riot over for dinner last April. The violinist dated my brother for a bit. They're super cool. Fucking hilarious bunch of people.

The NoCalMike thread wasn't that funny. If that's in classics, then why the hell isn't "I wear a tie to the board"? At least call it the Treble Memorial Legend Room or something.

Fuckin' idiots, all' a'ya.

Furthermore, despite calling everyone "fuckin' idiots", I've twiced edited this post. Take that.

In my ten minutes of research, I couldn't find this "Tie post" that people keep referencing.

That only means one thing: conspiracy.

I tried to explain every choice, but man screw that.

Venkman

Bigolsmitty

Incandenza

Marney - May be kind of crazy and also possibly dead, but damn if the Current Events folder didn't become more entertaining when she was around. I'm sure the people who actually post there will disagree.

Byron - I get this guy confused with Pbone a lot, I think. Doesn't really factor into this vote, just thought it was odd.

Cheech - Choosing between a Red Sox fan and a Yankees fan is not easy, but Cheech usually brings the sabermetricness that I can't be bothered to look up or fully understand, so I'll go with him.

Slayer

Ortonsault

Kinetic

Snuffbox

Spaceman Spiff - The Calvin & Hobbes reference was the difference maker.

Canadian Chris

Mellow

Bored

Edwin

Andrew TS

KOAB

Smartly Pretty

Smues

Mattdotcom

Kamala - I almost want to vote for a fellow random numbered username poster, but nah.

Pbone

Al Keiper See Cheech and "sabermetricness"

Agent of Oblivion - Hey, I'm gonna listen to "Graveflower".

S.J. Kreese

Canadian Guitarist

Treble

Black Lushus

Milky

King 909

Vitamin X - EAT TO LIVE and such.

Hmmm, that could be it. I'm just too lazy/don't care to change it.

I think my role as ombudsman really did more damage than good. Luckily for 2009, this will be a non-factor.

You shittin' me, Matt?

I actually thought it said "CanadianChris", so I immediately voted Cyber Mark (nothing against Chris, btw) but shit... I like both you guys. I'll have to think on that one. Some of these choices are tough.

Yeah, really. To those who voted for the other guy over me, does quantity really best quality? So a guy's been around more often, does that make him better than another? It's like you guys expect validation, and I'm not ready for this kind of relationship. Perhaps when I was younger and more cavalier about how I wasted my hours...
