Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted February 17, 2002 Im pretty sure Doink is probabaly the most 2 sided gimmick ive ever seen. So first, lets get to the good. When Doink first appeared in the WWF, he played a maniacal Clown played by Matt Borne (who was once nickname maniac). In his first appearencs he would act nice....then become a prick and make kids cry. One of the most famous was squirting water on a little boy......before Mr. Perfect handed him his ass. Also, the first time the 2 doink thing happend, it was cool. But then it got repetitive into the midget form. The fued with Crush was very good to me then, although i havnt watched any of that footage since 1996 or so. But then..... In 1994, WWF ousted Borne once againfrom the company and stuck a jobber in rthe outfit, who uses the gimmick to this day im writing this. His name escapes me, but it was Lombardi yet. Anyway, on the Christmas week of 1993, the Doink gimmick went to hell when we first got a chance to see Dink, aka Tiger Jackson. Fast Foward to Wrestlemania X. Probably the worst match on the card, Dink made Doink even worse looking, plus the shitty ring attire. In weeks following the 1994 survvior series, we were witnessed to saying welcome to Wink & pink. Survivor Series 1994 was thier last appearence ON TV, but went on to fight Queezy & Sleezy on the Holiday Wish Tour. We got a VERY DISTURBING lose up of Dink & wink, one that makes me lose sleep every time i think of it. Although the doink joke was a comedy. Get it, Clown....comedy? Me niether. Anyway, we got to see about 10 matches with him and Jeff Jarrett in 1994, 10 more then we shoulda seen. 1995 thankfully saw the end of doink, as it was Doink IV i believe, again, the name escapes me. Anyway, the last i remember seeing him was jobbing to the Roadie in a KOTR Qualifying Match. Thankfully even more, Dink was gone also. The REAL last hurrah for the Doink gimmick came at the Wrestlemania X-7 Gimmick Battle Royal. Although he lost, he got the loudest pop for entering, and the loudest for being elimanated. Something important here? hell if i know. All the WWF needed was a goo heel, or at least no midgets o keep this gimmick alive. Also, If i didnt mention it, the Doink gimmick is still being used today in the Independent Circut, although i dont go to those shows, im probably sure he is a jobber there too.
