Guest The_Olympic_Hero Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Torn - ***1/2 - Not as good a song as people were saying it was. Ode - ****1/4 - Not QUITE up to the ****1/2 but this is a VERY good song. My Own Prison - ***** - This is DEFINATELY the highlight of the album. Pity for a Dime - **1/2 - The worst song on the album but it is bearable. In America - ****1/2 - I loved this song but it is NOWHERE near My Own Prison. GREAT song though. Illusion - *** - This is nothing special. Unforgiven - ****1/4 - Another song over the **** mark. Sister - ****3/4 - ANOTHER great song but again, My Own Prison is STILL the best on the album. What's This Life For - **** - Great lyrics make this worth a listen. One - ****3/4 - Well, this dark side of Creed's music is fuckin great. A Shite bonus track is there as well. Overall : GET THIS NOW ! I thought that Weathered was a HUGE step up from Human Clay but then I heard this and LOVED it. Easily their best album and a must have album for ANY Rock or even Metal fan because this is MUCH darker than their later stuff. That many songs over **** can only mean one thing. Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 26, 2002 I agree, that's a great album. Creed gets knocked a lot, but I generally think their music is pretty solid. It's not classic stuff, but as rock music goes today, it's pretty good and a great deal better than a lot of the crap being shoveled at us by MTV. I mean, sure the band may be filled with self-absorbed douche bags, but the music's pretty decent.
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted June 26, 2002 WHAT THE FUCK?! Creed are just yet another band who sound like all the other corporate rock crap around America at the moment. They are no better than Nickleback, Puddle Of Mudd, Soil or POD. You have no idea how much my friends and I laugh at their videos as well. The lead singer thinks he's fucking jesus, it's hilarious. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 27, 2002 "One" has possibly some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard. "I feel angry, I feel helpless" THAT'S THE ENTIRE FUCKING CHORUS. THERE IS NOTHING DARK AT ALL ABOUT THIS ALBUM. And I'm not even an "elitist" metalhead, and I say Creed are a bunch of Pearl Jam/Doors wannabe pussies that rely on the same riffs for entire albums. Fuck Creed.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted June 27, 2002 I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but i find it abosultely impossible to take creed seriously. How anyone could ever listen to a whole track, let alone buy a fucking album of that pretentious deluded shit is beyond me. Say a creed song is 3 minutes, here's me at 1 minute - Oh good god it's creed 2 minutes - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what an tool this guy really is, oh my. 3 minutes - alright. Get me a gun. The world is heading for mutiny, when all we want is unity, we may rise and fall, but in the end we'll meet our fate together." I don't consider that bad lyrics, I just think your opinion sucks balls. You, sir, should take the advice that I gave the above poster, and smell my hand. A+ I'm glad you took the time to do this. Although I differ in opinion from you. I think that "Sister" is the worst track on the CD, and that "Pity for a Dime" is in the top 4. I do agree about "My Own Prison" being the best single on the album however. I don't have a bonus track on mine. I purchased it the day it was released. You know, before all the kids started hating them because they got MTV airplay, and if it's on MTV it has to be bad. Fucking sheep.
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted June 27, 2002 Ok, I live in the UK and don't even get MTV, so that's that intelligent critique of yours out of the window. Those lyrics you quoted? Actually yes, I do consider them to be awful lyrics. The fact is that they are sung by this white American, and he's preaching about discrimination?! What a complete fake! What the hell does he know about discrimination? He's probly had all the breaks you need in life; rich parents, a good school and certainly no black people to fuck it up for him. Have you seen their videos? In each one there is a black, ethiopian child who is clearly intentianally made to look poor and in need of help. Now that's what I call discrimination! The funniest thing that Creed did was in a video to some song the lead singer cures a man of his blindness and then proceeds to walk on water. I was having a laughing fit at that one let me tell you. The music is average at best and the lyrics are always god awful. But Creed takes the cake for trying to use this god like image. What a sad joke.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 27, 2002 From Cataclysm 911 You know, before all the kids started hating them because they got MTV airplay, and if it's on MTV it has to be bad. Fucking sheep. Actually, the first time I heard Creed was the song "One," and I couldn't stand it, and I still watched Nickelodeon and never even thought about watching MTV at all. I heard "One" during some cheesy presentation during middle-school about the crossroads of life, and the decisions that we make in our youth shape our older ages, and I thought it was the dumbest fucking song I'd ever heard (and then, all about 5 years later, Andrew WK comes out). So I say, to that statement about me being a part of the flock for not liking a band that just happens to get MTV airplay, "TOSS MY SALAD, HO!" From Platypus Fool He's probly had all the breaks you need in life; rich parents, a good school and certainly no black people to fuck it up for him. I had the unfortunate horror of seeing part of Creed: Behind The Music. And yes, Scott Stapp grew up with a silver spoon practically shoved up his ass, and the worst thing he ever experienced was being thrown out of college. Was he ever poor? No. Family member beat him? No. Did he ever almost get killed? No. He just went back home and joined the choir. Fuck Scott Stapp in his Eddie Morrison ass.

What the hell does he know about discrimination? He's probly had all the breaks you need in life; rich parents, a good school and certainly no black people to fuck it up for him. Ok, so he in particular had the breaks in life with the rich parents and the other shit, but why is it so hard to believe that a white person is a victim of discrimination. I've been refused jobs because I'm white. I've been refused entry to clubs because I'm white. I've been excluded and made unwelcome because I'm white. I've lost friends because I'm white. The song talks about how discrimination is on both sides, and how that discrimination creates hatred. I can tell you from personal experience that this is a true fact. My review: Torn - **** - great song to open this album with Ode - **** - My Own Prison - ***** - best song of the album Pity for a Dime - *** - not their best In America - * - can't get into this song Illusion - 1/2 - filler Unforgiven - * - nothing of note Sister - ** - didn't care for this one What's This Life For - **** - good lyrics and makes me think One - ***** - great song that I consider more upbeat than the rest, I'm just glad I've never seen the video if it's as bad as it sounds

They are no better than Nickleback, Puddle Of Mudd, Soil or POD. I agree except for Nickelback. They aren't really corporate, they are just a generic rock band getting overplayed. They haven't really done anything bad really.

Guest pearljamfan Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Personally I think Creed sucks ass, blatant Pearl Jam ripoff that drives me crazy. But I will say this My Own Prison was a good album, its the only Creed album I have and the only one I like but I havent listened to it in years. I wish this shitty band would just go away tho
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted June 30, 2002 Stapp is a bland and boring lyracist, and the only reason Creed is popular is because they preach about Jesus and Christianity all day in their songs. If something like 90% of the American population wasn't Christian they would be nothing. If I had to be pissed about anything it would be Stapp, not the band... Tremonti really isn't that bad.
