"Macho Man" Randy Savage DVD talk

Recommended Posts

Maybe people do not want this buried into some thread 20 pages too long?

I will pick this bad boy up as soon as it his the shelf. I am glad there isn't a doc with it. I can only see it as a 90 min bashing of Savage. Which is not the point of these DVDs.

Was the official DVD thread too good for you to post this in?

For someone like me who only ventures in here if I sees a topic on the front page that piques my interest, yes, yes it was. 'sides, I'm not sitting here examining all of the company's releases. A Savage collection's big news, especially given his history with the promotion.

To be fair, thinking about it, I'm not sure a documentary is needed that much. Maybe those small 3 minute openings from Mean Gene ala 24/7 before each match just giving a quick filler behind the history of the match.

Glad this got it's own thread. I would have never known that it existed.

I guess I'll confront the 800-pound underage-banging elephant in the room: Do we get him screwing Stephanie as an Easter Egg?

Honestly, the match listing doesn't do a whole lot for me. Then again that may be partly because I'm a Savage fan and have the majority of the matches already. Which is where the lack of a documentary proves a stumbling block for me.

That's a nice list of extras, but they really need the Danger Zone promo from Saturday Night's Main Event and the deranged promo he cut after beating Flair at WMVIII. Macho Lifestyles would be awesome too.

I was a big Savage fan growing up and am looking forward to watching matches I haven't seen in over 15 years.

Do they typically release the Saturday Night Main Event matches with the original commentary (Jesse Venture), or have they been redubbed?

The extras make this look quite a bit better. Definitely pick it up now.

SNME DVD has Ventura, so one must assume it will have him.

I would have loved for them to include his Prime Time Wrestling segment prior to WMVII where he presented a number of gifts he was gonna give the Warrior:

Vince: "This is a telephone? Why would you give the Warrior a telephone?"

Savage: "Because he's gonna call it quits! Yeah!"

That segment ruled.

Elizabeth's deubt, the coronation of the Macho King (with Lanny Poffo doing the honors) and a bunch of promos equals gold. They have one from TNT and Savage was always gold there. Only thing missing is his insane promos before and after his comeback match against Jake Roberts.

Hopefully those are in the main program since they are two of his best promos
