G1 Transformers on DVD This June!

As you already know, Shout! Factory has picked up the rights to the original "G1" animated Transformers series, and is preparing a June 16th release for The Transformers - The Complete 1st Season: 25th Anniversary Edition on DVD. We've known that they had ambitious plans for bonus material on this release, to accompany the first 16 episodes of the show (including the original 3-part miniseries, "More Than Meets the Eye".

Now we've learned from Shout!'s official website that the extras will include Original Hasbro Toy Commercials, a Featurette titled "A Look Back at Hasbro and the Origins of The Transformers", and Concept Art...at the very least, anyway. That might be the full list, but we've heard that the studio is still recording various material. It could be that it's meant for future releases, though, if we're being realistic.

We're also still waiting on answers to questions we've passed along to Shout! from fans, wondering about whether these releases will be the original broadcast edit (video and audio), and whether the original broadcast order will be preserved on all of this studio's releases. For now, we can give you the track listing supplied at Shout!'s site, listing the order that they will come in for this package:

* Disc 1:

1. More Than Meets The Eye, Part 1

2. More Than Meets The Eye, Part 2

3. More Than Meets The Eye, Part 3

4. Transport To Oblivion

5. Roll For It

6. Divide And Conquer

7. Fire In The Sky

8. S.O.S. Dinobots

* Disc 2:

9. Fire On The Mountain

10. War Of The Dinobots

11. The Ultimate Doom, Part 1

12. The Ultimate Doom, Part 2

13. The Ultimate Doom, Part 3

14. Countdown To Extinction

15. A Plague Of Insecticons

16. Heavy Metal War

If that list is accurate, then it's the same order as Rhino's first season set, which agrees with the order at the Big Cartoon DataBase (BCDB.com). However, it's different than the order seen at other websites, such as TV.com, EpGuides.com and WikiPedia (which each give original broadcast dates to support the order they show...but each has different ones, and different orders). Well, we'll bring you the official press release, with all the finalized details, once Shout! and Hasbro finish hammering that out, and are ready to distribute it to the world. Stay tuned!

I know Rhino video released the series back in 2002, but it's LONG since out of print. Going to ridiculous prices on Ebay, and in high demand. I can't be the only person excited about this!

Ironically, Revenge of the Fallen is set to release on the very day (25 years ago) that Transformers debuted on TV.

Wonder if they'll mention that in the advertising or not.

Also wonder if they'll remember this time around to include the original theme into the movie, even if it's just in the end credits like how the 60s/70s Spider-Man toon theme was in the credits for the first Spider-Man movie.

I've already bought this twice (the Rhino one and the Metronome re-release), but I'll probably buy it again.

Here's a little something for everyone. Stan Bush has rerecorded "The Touch", complete with a new music video, in an attempt to get it incorporated into Revenge of the Fallen. This new version features a "Linkin Park sound", for lack of a better term. This definitely isn't for everyone. My suggestion is listen to the song without watching the video. IMO, this is an acceptable remake, aside from the really out of place rapping. Prepare to either be impressed or feel your childhood and ears have been raped.

The original for those that may have forgotten, or never experienced:
