Guest Doomsault Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 Okay, this is probably something that's been talked about before but it just hit me a few days ago, I was flipping channels around and I hit MTV, they were playing that new Pink video wich sucks but okay, I flipped it back about ten mintues later and saw the same video and thought, that's wierd, two hours later, same fucking video! Screw it I said. Starting watching again about one in the morning waiting for the Dirty Vegas video, saw the video two more times before two o'clock. Why god why?! VH1 has the same problem with that Soak Up the Sun Cheryl Crow video. Feel free to comment on my whining.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 MTV2 played the new chili peppers 'by the way' on a FUCKING 24 HOUR LOOP. I like em, but i never want to heard that song again. And 'movies' by alien ant farm, i hated it the first time, now i'm pushing for a law to stop such indistinguishable vanilla shite bands ever to record.
Guest caboose Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 Here in England, MTV2 looped Korn's 'Here To Stay' for 6 hours one week. The following week they looped Sum 41's 'What were all about' for 6 hours. MTV2's explanation was that the nights when the videos were looped were Korn and Sum41 nights. Fucking bullshit.
Guest redbaron51 Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 Probably the average people who don't know jack shit about music doesn't care, because they are the ones who are buying the CD's. eMpTyV
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 I think that's the MTV definition of "heavy rotation," and one that a lot of top 40 type stations use as well. If the song plays every two hours, that's Heavy Rotation. Which, uh, sucks. Course, the majority of videos in current rotation, period, are pretty poor, so I'll just stick to slapping in CDs and closing my eyes for the same effect.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 after I saw Slayer's vid for Bloodline, i never need to watch MTV/2 any more
Guest razazteca Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 Ja Rule is on heavy rotation on both MTV and BET, damn it stop the Rap-R&B push now.
Guest Kinetic Posted June 27, 2002 Report Posted June 27, 2002 Repetition equals record sales. It's a proven formula. The general record-buying public will buy anything if they hear the single often enough. So if the brass at MTV see a video that they feel will be successful, they'll shove it down their viewers' throats for a few months. That's just the nature of the beast.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 MTV2 played the new chili peppers 'by the way' on a FUCKING 24 HOUR LOOP. I like em, but i never want to heard that song again. Funny story about Alien Ant Farm (no, not the bus accident, which is sad because you never want see that happen).... The story is that they got pelted with snowcones last year at Warped Tour here in Dallas. (Y) By the way, Flogging Molly rules. *went to Warped Tour today*
Guest phoenixrising Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Speaking of MTV2, is it just me or are they playing a lot of rap and R&B on there right now? Stuff that is normally on MTV is now on MTV2, and I don't remember any "Hip-Hop Month" announcement. Plus MTV has put it's old Making the Video shows on there. Sucks, cause MTV2 used to play rock songs that MTV wouldn't play unless they got popular, and now they've gotten rid of most of it. They even took off the MTV2 Rock show during the day and replaced it with another show.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 MTV has been playing The Vines and The White Stripes constantly but i rarely catch the swank ass new Strokes video. MTV also plays THE FUCK! out of without me. UGh.
Guest M Nyland Posted June 30, 2002 Report Posted June 30, 2002 I've stopped watching MTV (and I don't get MTV2 or X) and I just download the videos I like so I can watch them whenever. Why can't some Medicore Treehugging Vigilance group sue MTV like the Panda Lovers did to the WWF? then they will have to change their name to RTV....Repetitve Television... screw MTV........ and Have a nice day...
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 It isn't MTV-X anymore, it's MTV Jams. 24/7 rap and r&b. I like it. And "Without Me" is GOLD. Since I stopped caring about putting up an asthetic facade, I love MTV, MTV2, MTV Jams, and the RADIO~!
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 Where is MTV Jams coming to DTV?
Guest Vyce Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 Here in England, MTV2 looped Korn's 'Here To Stay' for 6 hours one week. Six hours of Korn? I'd kill myself.
