WWE does not have a program for Flair...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

[sarcasm]You have to love hotshot booking, it's just great[/sarcasm]. The following is from 1wrestling...

"A lot of people have asked me what the deal was with Ric Flair not being on Raw last Monday. As best as I can find out, he just wasn't written into the show. I have heard from a few people that WWE wanted Flair to work a full schedule of match dates but at 53 he told them that he didn't think that was doable (and who can blame him for that). I would guess at this point WWE is figuring out how to use him since they took him out of his regular role as a mouthpiece. Ah, you have to love the repercussions of hotshot booking."

...so now Ric Flair has nothing to do, that makes a lot of sense. One of the most useable characters on all of WWE TV and they can't find anything for him to do? They sure as hell find something, and soon, or I'll be one pissed off Flair fan. :D

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Ric Flair would make a good commissioner or a good mouth piece for a heel stable......

I agree, I was digging that Horseman-esque stable they had going for like a week with Benoit, Arn Anderson and Eddy Guererro.

They can't find anything for Flair to do, but they find something for X-Pac to do. MADNESS!

Lucky for us Austin left WWF and put everyone in a bind. If that hadn't happened, we might have been on the way to something interesting and kick ass on RAW!

Of course, blame Austin. Hey, fake-pissing on Arn Anderson might be entertaining to you, but that whole Austin vs. Flair/Anderson/Eddie/Benoit thing didn't look like it was working too well. They should've just gone back to a wrestler vs. wrestler feud. It should've been Austin vs. Benoit/maybe Eddie, but no the Bookers wanted Austin to job to a green and heatless Brock Lesnar.......

Well, this isn't an Austin thread, so, getting back on track, Flair could be a good mouthpiece for a Canadian uber-heel stable (Storm, Christian, Benoit, Jericho).....

How can you NOT blame Austin, at least in part? Had he not left, they would not have been forced to write an entire new RAW that evening, and they wouldn't have had to do the Flair Vs. McMahon angle. Had Austin been there, Flair would still have a program to work...

...so yeah, it is Austin's fault for putting them in a bind, and forcing them to do a bit of hotshotting, there was no other way. Not seeing that Austin lead to this, is simply one being blinded of the truth, like it or not you Austin mark you. :D

I don't know which is worse: the WWF expects a 53-year-old Flair to work a regular schedule or the fact that WWf doesn't have any plans for him.

How about both. The WWF/WWE is spiraling down the potty. That's all there is to it...

By all means, WWE should not ask Flair to work a regular schedule, but they should have him work matches every now and then as Hogan is doing. I think he could start The Four Horsemen, be the full time leader, but just not wrestle every show. He can do that, he even said he could do that, he just can't wrestle all the time. WWE best realize that he NEEDS to be in a program, he's one of their best guys to use right now.

Yeah, Downhome right. He's a old fart! He shouldn't really be there at all. I don't know how all these old men last in the WWE...

So what you are saying, is you don't feel Flair brings anything to the table, even though he is one of the best ever at speaking on the mic, and he can still put out **** matches?

Flair was one of the reasons why I watch RAW and now that Mr Egomaniac Vince McMahon took his spot as the owner of the brand, the show is going on a downward spirl again.

So where is the Beniot, Guerrero, Flair angle going?

I got a lot of heat for my post comparing the current WWE to the EWR game - but exactly what fucks you in the game, is now fucking the WWE

in EWR - you sign a high priced, very OVER Free agent...but once you job him out and turn him face heel face heel face heel - the crowd no longer responds and he's not over - now with other wrestlers in the game you just put on a series of good matches in well booked feuds and your heat goes back up

but with the high priced free agents, their matches suck shit because they're so old, refuse to job, and can't work a full schedule - so being over is their only value...once that goes away they become useless.

Flair now lost a shit load of heat due to his constant turns...he can't work matches every fucking night (idiot bookers...DUH)...so his worth is over..

but since this is real life, and not ewr - you can turn him into a mouthpiece to get some of these new talents over - what the fuck....why not let him start a cruiserweight stable....

Downhome, I would have to agree with that statement. I would rather have Flair work in a non wrestling capacity. But I guess a few matches here and there wouldn't hurt.

The WWF should be foolish to expect a man of Flair's age to work fulltime. The man is basically in semi-retirement.

I would love to see Flair have a stable of younger guys whom he speaks for, leads, and interfere's in their matches some.

I remember guys like HoganMadeWrestling saying that the WWE is still profitable. If they keep going in the direction they are, I wouldn't be suprised if they are near the level they were in 1995.....

Gee, Flair went through Eddie so now he has to meet up with Benoit. I'd say that is the obvious feud for him. Hell, anyone dumbass would know that one, yet they can't figure out what to do with Flair?

From what I understand, WWE IS turning a profit right now, even with their declining numbers.

Yes sir, it is definetly 3 days til July which would mean Benoit should be cleared by the PPV. Program writes itself. Bubba/Flair vs Eddy/Benoit, or split them and let Flair Benoit 1 on 1 , promote the shit out of it. Benoit could completely dismantle Flair, force him to retire from wrestling (Benoit gets a small rub). Promote Benoit as the rabid wolverine heel and see what Lesnar can do with him after Rock. Having Brock in a feud with a hard working Rocky and then a technical genius in Benoit could really give him what he needs.

Flair can just be commish or a manager like Heyman.

Flair would be a great manager for a heel stable. But he already did two turns in less than a month. No good can come from turning him again this soon.

Now that I think about it, the same thing happened to Mick Foley. For two straight shows (one in his hometown), he wasn't written into the show. And he was the commissioner at the time. And then...he quit. Uh oh.

The Horsemen are dead and buried. Between "my dog Spot" and their constant poor booking in WCW, the name is basically dead. Stables just aren't a part of wrestling anymore. Besides, the creative team can't even decide what to do with the NWOld from week to week, so you actually want to give them another stable to write for?

Great idea man. They could have Flair come out during a Team Canada (isn't that what they are calling them?) promo, look like he's going to give them a verbal beatdown and then have him turn on American fans and act as their manager. Well I think it would be good. Any thoughts?

(sigh) I don't see why somebody high-up always has to be a part of every fantasy booked stable. Can't we just leave it well enough alone? In my eyes, let the three guys in the new Team Canada get over on their own. Leave the people who would outright soak up the spotlight out of it.

Honestly, why is trying to find something for a nonwrestler to do such a big deal. I mean, Flair's entertaining and all but if he doesn't want to wrestle a full schedule anymore, it limits what he can do that anyone is going to actually care about. He really would not make a good manager since he would overshadow his workers in his promos. He shouldn't be commish because, well, those angles are about as played as they can possibly be. Honestly, Flair should retire or be satisfied to work behind the scenes.

Why couldn't they just have made the match McMahon vs Flair, and if Flair loses McMahon gets total control....

OR just have the damn thing end in a no-contest. (Oh, wait, that would have been impossible since EVERY Vince McMahon match HAS to have the crutch of "street fight' added to it)

Flair surely doesn't need another turn. He doesn't need to be wrestling full time anyway. When Austin left, they wanted Flair to take his spot. They should create someone else to take his spot, like an already over RVD, damnit! I'm no RVD mark either, but he's one of the most over guys right now. Push him to the moon I say. It can't be any worse than whats passing for WWE TV these days.

Guest What?!

Arrrgh! Just let him beat Vince for full control again and end the split. Plus a face figurehead would end any thoughts of "Austin vs the boss" type storylines.
