I don't condone Japanese mail order brides, nor do I know if they still do that, or ever did it. For all I know it could be something they did in a TV show and other TV shows did it and so on. Actually, although the practice of "official mail-order brides" ended, now there are several services online, correspondence services or something, that sell you the address to women overseas, who are often not very picky in a man and because of the poverty in the nation or other reasons are pretty desperate to come to America. You write them, they write you, if they like you, you visit them, they come home with you. Most correspondence services I've seen deal with women from the former Soviet republics and Southeast Asia. I honestly have no idea why I have been to so many of these sites... I guess out of some strange curiosity. By the by, I doubt Japan was ever a source for many mail-order brides, even though that's sort of the basis of the opera Madame Butterfly. Their economy has just been too consistently good, and during the WWII times, Americans were so jingoistic that they wouldn't have no "damned Jap for a wife" (no offense intended) anyway. I don't remember any of the sites off the top of my head, and the fact that I found the site on a joke search a year ago from the school library (which almost got my internet privileges revoked) doesn't help any. Though I didn't find the exact site, there seems to be a directory of sorts here. Oh, and dreamer, the likelihood of finding another Anna Kournikova is slim to nil, but I found some lovely ladies back when I was there. Don't go dissing my people - Russians are hot!
