The bassist for the British rock group The Who has died in Las Vegas.

John Entwistle, aged 57, died on Thursday, shortly before the group was scheduled to begin a concert tour, according to the Reuters news agency.

The announcement was made by Clark County Coroner's office in Las Vegas.

The cause of death was still under investigation, said coroner Ron Flud.

The Who were one of the biggest rock bands of the 1960s and 70s, with hits including the massive My Generation and Substitute

I can't believe this. I was going to go see the Who and Robert Plant up in Chicago in August.

He truly was the most influential bassist in all of rock. The music he made as a member of the Who as well as solo changed my life. I'm so sad right now.

R.I.P. John Alec Entwistle

Now you and Keith can make great music forever....

Well, John died of a heart attack, most likely.

One of my major influences for me to actually pick up the bass guitar
