Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 . "Best match of the night thus far. Not a match of the year candidate, but very good." This is from the torch's review of Trips-Angle. Do you think Keller is a tool or what? "What SHOULD the Main Event at Mania be?" It should be Jericho-Angle according to the stips of tonight's show. What will it be? Angle-trips-Jericho 3 way, playing before Hogan-Rock closes the show.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 So yeah, this was night of the promos. Know why? EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKED. Ok, Goldust/RVD wasn't too bad, thanks to some neat spots I've never seen before, but other then that...Goddamn... Anyway, it had some HILARIOUS f*cking promos. Hall: "We're just like all you people. We're just a couple of marks!" I KILLED myself laughing at that one. People gave me odd looks (I saw it in an auditorum at my university) Hall: "We just wanna chat, get some autographs, and maybe have a few beers with the guys!" Nash: *Shakes head* Hall: *Makes a "Just one?" motion.* Nash: *Shakes head* When he handed Austin the 6-pack, I expected one to be missing. I thought Angle's "I'm gonna be YOUR daddy" was a riot too. But nothing topped RVD mocking Goldust. "Yeah, well you'll never forget the name of *inhales like Goldust* Like the inhale? *Inhales more* Rob Van Dam." If anyone else did it, it wouldn't have been funny, but man, good ol' RVD 420. And they WWF is screwing around with the nWo angle too much, I say. Either have them be marks, or have them smash everything. NOT both. And to get the ratings, make it smash. The mark bit would be funny, but I don't think it'd draw well.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Good GAWD. What are you guys going to say next - say that it was his fault for the ref bumps? Actually...if HHH was able to carry himself through a match the ref bumps and over booking would be unneccessary.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Lots of ref bumps at NWO. Maybe they'll try to top it on Raw or WM.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Tag Team Turmoil - **** RVD/Goldust - *** Tazz/Spike vs. Booker/Test - DUD Edge/Regal - ***1/2 Rock/Taker - **1/4 HHH/Angle - *** Jericho/Austin - ***1/4 It was alright. I don't agree with giving up hope for HHH after ONE FREAKING MATCH. No one gave up on Austin after his first few bad matches back. Granted, they were with Rikishi, but ring rust happens to the best of them. Remember this was his first PPV match back (RR obviously doesn't count.) I say the next 4 weeks will be very interesting, seeing as how I can't definately predict one single match for the WM card, because I really doubt Jericho/Angle or Flair/UT will happen. Those are some VERY liberal grades. And Hunter has had 5-6 really, really bad matches since he has returned, without a good one to make up for it.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 of those ratings, the only ones i would agree with are rock/taker and *maybe* rvd/goldust.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "Actually...if HHH was able to carry himself through a match the ref bumps and over booking would be unneccessary." You mean "would NOT" Yeah the tag team turmoil was nothing special. Not surprisingly, the best matchup came from Hardys-Duds, go figure. You weren't watching the same Regal-Edge match that I was. Theses guys do not go together well at all. Get Regal off my screen if his opponent isn't Fit Finley. Ireland-England conflict Rules (and give Ireland back to the Irish dammit!!) Maybe if you added up all the 1/2*s from the turmoil it would be **** but as a whole it was ** TOPS.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I agree with both the above statements Although Tag team turmoil was heading towards **** if Chick a Billy & APA didn't suck
Guest The Man in Blak Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Gimme a fucking break. They probably booked the main in an (ultimately futile) attempt to protect Angle but still keep what steam is left in Trip's sail going into Wrestlemania. It's a SCHMOZZ - it's what the WWF does. Now people who watched will turn in tomorrow night to see if Flair over-turns it, wondering exactly what Wrestlemania's going to look like, but yet having a general idea. It gives Triple H a little more sympathy heat and it should have given Angle a little more cowardly-heel heat, though judging by the reaction here, refs were flying everywhere and it didn't work. Get a grip.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 people wont tune in to see if flair overturns it, because JR made absolutely no refence to even a *possibility* that the decision could be overturned.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 They should get the I-C Title off of Regal ASAP. His style clashes with just about everybody. And for the love of God, NO MORE Edge/Regal matches. Give RVD the I-C Title.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Based on what I saw tonight... The smartest thing that the WWF could do is have RVD squash Regal tomorrow...or better yet on the Smackdown tapings...that way people can read the spoilers and have a reason to watch.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Get Regal off my screen if his opponent isn't Fit Finley. I second that. And furthermore, I hope that the "sequel" that Ross was blibbering about between RVD and Goldust is isolated to a quick Raw match so that RVD can move on to squishing Regal and getting the IC title back around the waist of somebody who the fans actually care about.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 if i see another regal/edge match i will be totally pissed off, the crowd doesnt care about edge, regal is moderately over because of the knux. like tony said, get the strap on rvd ASAP!!!
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "And furthermore, I hope that the "sequel" that Ross was blibbering about between RVD and Goldust is isolated to a quick Raw match so that RVD can move on to squishing Regal and getting the IC title back around the waist of somebody who the fans actually care about." And I second that. Hell, if RVD is gonna fight for the IC title, then Edge needs to get the strap tomorrow cos I don't wanna see Regal at Mania against RVD. At least w/ Edge, they get to do a mad spotfest w/o Regal's slow ass offense and Dustins 32 restholds in a match. Hell RVD-Edge might even include some decent wrestling thanks to RVD's development in the ring. "The smartest thing that the WWF could do is have RVD squash Regal tomorrow...or better yet on the Smackdown tapings.." He already squashed him in like 52 seconds . but you're right. Get the belt off Regal pronto!!! And where the Hell is Tajiri?!?!
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 My God Edge went down the crapper. Reform E and C STAT!
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Tajiri is making a new home on Jakked. He also has a second home on Heat.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Jakked and heat are better than Raw and Smackdown.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The Sound of Music is better than Raw and Smackdown
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "My God Edge went down the crapper. Reform E and C STAT!" Actually, I'm down with Storm-Christian as a tag team. Edge just needs to feud w/ someone who has talent. His last two feuds were Regal and Test. It's not his fault. Hell, Edge-Booker would probably deliver or Edge-Angle considering their history.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The Edge character is boring right now too. Maybe a heel turn and RVD program?
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 They won't push RVD. But the WWF is trying to rub off his heat to guys he wrestles.
Guest Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 >>>My God Edge went down the crapper. Reform E and C STAT!<<< Um, duh. I've been saying this for months. Hopefully he'll lose his heat enough to be opening up Jakked with Funaki.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Oh shit, that means RVD vs. test
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Eh, this PPV blew. Every single match sucked ass. I wouldn't give ANY match on this card even **1/2, it was just that bad.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Once again you are Always Pissed Off (ha) I could give the main prior to the finish at least *** and even Goldust-RVD was in the 2 1/2 range but as a collective whole I agree with you.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The main was no where near *** Jericho and Austin were dogging it.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "The main was no where near *** Jericho and Austin were dogging it" I'll have to watch it tomorrow after the smoke settles to reassess my feelings. I usually like to watch matches the next day with a clearer head but I know crap when I see it and Angle-Trips was crap, Regal-Edge was crap, and The Tag Title match was crap w/o question.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Austin/Jericho wasn't as good as it should of been. Maybe they're getting ready to slack off in match quality, so the nWo won't get blown up when they wrestle.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "Maybe they're getting ready to slack off in match quality, so the nWo won't get blown up when they wrestle." That's not a good thing. that's a bad thing. That's what pisses me off because they are capable of a minimum of three or four **** matches every night. They choose not to do it. It's f****in ridiculous. Hell, have the sports entertainment for the rubes then once they hit the ring, let these guys go to work cos in the long run that's how the company is gonna stay afloat!!!!!
