Guest LooseCannon Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I think it's about a year and a half too late to blow off the HHH-Angle-Steph love triangle.
Guest WWF4Life Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Yeah, but it would the perfect way to promote the match, if it happens. HHH hates Steph, Jericho has history with Steph...Angle would have more heat and people would see him as more of a threat to the title. Otherwise, how will they promote the match? Most main events of WrestleMania have had background issues with the participants. It'll be difficult to build issues in the four weeks until WM...=)
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I agree w/ looseCannon. They should have ended the love triangle in 2000 when people still gave a damn. As for the Mania main event, the ideal would be Angle-Jericho from a quality standpoint. but they'll probably do a convoluted three way .
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 If they do go with HHH vs. Jericho vs. Angle. HHH wins the WWF Title after he pins Angle. Postmatch, Jericho & Steph beat up HHH. Setting up HHH vs. Jericho at Backlash. Jericho stays in a high profile feud.
Guest cabbageboy Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I'd enjoy another RVD/Angle match (IC title anyone?). If nothing else it would be fun to see Angle get his ass kicked and bleed all over the ring again. No more RVD/Goldust, please. Worst case IC match at WM: 4 way with RVD/GD/Edge/Regal. Given the various styles that would be a cluster. Anglesault is right about RVD and Edge working different ladder matches. I'm not sure that Edge can have a really awesome match with anyone to be honest with you. Not in singles. He just looks lethargic out there most of the time, needs to move faster. Did someone actually want Booker T to get an IC shot? BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I can see the salvation of the IC division shortly though: RVD vs. Benoit. Oh...my...god.
Guest WWF4Life Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 What's wrong with Booker T getting an IC shot? He'd be a more credible champion than Regal.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 If it keeps Booker T away from Test, then I'm all for him getting an I-C Title shot.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 I don't think they can drop Angle from # 1 contender to job boy to up and commers.
Guest Brian Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Can they bring up a new star in the attitude era without forcing a McMahon on them?
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 "Can they bring up a new star in the attitude era without forcing a McMahon on them?" Not as long as steph's on the writing team and we are now i the Desire era, for what it's worth.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Can they bring up a new star in the attitude era without forcing a McMahon on them? From the looks of it....I guess not. It seems like there's going to be a 'Fatal 4 Way' for the I-C Title at WM with Edge vs. Regal vs. Goldust vs. RVD. Because on the Raw preview they say RVD & Edge vs. Goldust & Regal.
Guest TheHulkster Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Im usually pretty optimistic about wwf ppv's, but this is the first one in a while that bummed me out about losing $30, and this is coming from a Hogan mark. I thought the opening promo was pretty funny, nice to see Hogan get "i cant even talk" face heat. Tag team turmoil was pretty solid and so was RVD vs goldust, but then it all went to shit. The tag title match was totally uninspired (nice to know there are more spike haters out there, he doesnt belong in a wrestling ring, he belongs behind the counter at mcdonalds) Edge and Regal are the most boring combination that the wwf could possibly think of. Edge was never really good in the ring despite having the look of someone who should be, and regal's best days are behind him, and why did they give them so much time? Rock vs Undertaker reminded me of Rock vs bulldog, rock vs billy gunn, rock vs show, and the rock vs taker main from KOR 99. The rock has a lot of good traits, but being superman as far as working with the sluggish isnt one of them. HHH vs Angle wasn't terrible, some of you people talk about it like its viscera vs the big boss man. The main event was disappointing. There was no flow whatsoever it was just chop, suplex, finisher, chop, chop, chop, chop, suplex, chop, chop, finisher untill the nwo ran out, who i agree are being made to look weak. This ppv was booked poorly, the ring work was poor, and the heat was poor.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 There's only one problem with RVD vs Edge in a ladder match --- the gimmick is completely played out. For a gimmick match to be successful, they shouldn't have so damn many of them. Remember WarGames? That was once a year, and it blew the roof of every arena it was in (before 1993, damn Shockmaster). I can see an RVD/Edge ladder match in the future, but wait until atleast Summerslam. What I would prefer is RVD squashing Regal for the title tonight, and building Edge up as the challenger. RVD is more over right now, but at WM X-8, they'll be in Toronto... Edge's home crowd. The crowd will be torn and extremely hot for an RVD vs Edge match with no gimmick. Just a normal wrestling match. Give them 15-20 minutes and it'll be a huge success.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Jesus H Christ, No. Kill the whole Edge as IC contender thing, he is so fucking boring. Christian should have never lost it.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Seems like the WWF is going to try and see if they can get RVD to rub off his heat to Goldust, Regal & Edge.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 RVD Edge would be better than RVD Regal...the only problem is for that scenerio to work Edge has to wrestle Regal again. And no one wants to see that.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 No, RVD can wrestle Regal and Edge can be furious that RVD can beat Regal but not Edge.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 But if they put Edge as the contender at Mania...in his hometown...he'll probably get the strap back.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 God help us all if we see another Edge IC run.
Guest KurtK26 Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Hey, I was at NWO on Sunday, and as far as Milwaukee not getting the nWo interview or being heatless, remember that we're one of the fattest cities in America, and can barely manage to stand up and sit down repeatedly during a three hour show. We were trying! Seriously though, give us something to cheer for and we will. RVD got a pretty good pop, but the boring matches got no response, as it should be. Woo-hoo! In your face Milwaukee!- Homer
