I don't think Angle/Jericho would be heatless...all they have to do is run a 4 week America/Canada bit and the crowd would go nuts.

As for the home audience:  Who cares if it's heel vs. heel.

HHH can't cut it.  Angle couldn't even carry him to a decent match...Jericho would do no better.

Jericho vs. HHH could be a GREAT match and that's all I care about.

Not that Angle will make it to Mania...

Posted

Why would anyone even start hoping for Angle/Jericho at WM? There's 4 weeks until the show, that would give them second tier heel main eventer vs. second tier heel main eventer? Come on, be realistic.

That match was decent at best, but it wans't RVD. It was a trainwreck half-way through.RVD just went straight spots, then the pacing went to shit, the Runnels took over and the pacing was still pretty shit. Runnels starts to take control about mid-way through his offense and work over the back a little. RVD makes the come back and avoids selling the back at all. Decent at best.

It was hardly a decent show for me. Wrestling is on the downfall. Disappointed with everything.

I didn't watch it, but judging by the results of what happened, it was a pretty sad PPV.

I'm not sure if I understand the nWo being poison by costing Austin the title...other than the opening promo, it was the nWold.  Somebody said it earlier in this thread, and I gotta agree - they were neutered tonight.  Rock should have been hospitalized and, if anything, both Austin and Jericho should have been left laying.  These guys are supposed to destroy the WWF?

I'm torn on the results, anyways.  I can't vouch for match quality, but it's good to hear that RVD & Jericho went over.   I don't think I'll ever understand the WWF's hard-on for Regal, though, especially to the point that they'd tank Edge to put him over.

Everything else sounded like it was overbooked or a total snooze, though, which isn't exactly the atmosphere they want four weeks before the "Super Bowl of Wrestling."

I am hoping for Angle/Jericho because HHH proved how bad he is tonight.

I kinda liked the show.

The nWo opening promo was cool especially since I didn't expect to see them till the end of the show.  Hall was great with the "Maybe we'll even get a few autographs or even have a beer with the stars!".  And Hogan "We're just like you, maybe a little richer, but we're fans just like you!".  Great way to start the show IMO.

Tag Turmoil was good but I would have rather seen the Hardys or Dudleys win the match.  The only problem was that there couldn't be any real "match" because everyone only had about 1-2 minutes in the ring.  I think we'll see the Outsiders beat the APA before 'Mania and take the belts at Mania.

nWo backstage with Austin was funny as hell.  Woo!  The nWo is here, brotha!!

Goldust Vs RVD was a decent match, Goldust seems to be old already.  I really think he's better as Dustin Rhodes, but that's just me.  Match Rating: **

Booker T/Test Vs Tazz/Spike wasn't too good (suprise suprise), it's sad to see the tag division have two thrown together teams fighting at the PPV for the Titles.  Rating - * at best

Regal Vs Edge was ok.  The ending seemed stupid though.  Rating **

Rock Vs Undertaker: I actually enjoyed this match, I thought it was entertaining.  The end was all over the place but I thought that it was an ok match.  Rating: **1/2

HHH Vs Angle sucked.  Trips sucks in the ring now, I always thought he was overrated and i've always thought that he sucked as a face.  The ending was overbooked but it wasn' t too bad.  Angle/Jericho at Wrestlemania?  I doubt it.  I think Angle will lose his shot or we'll see a third man get added in the Next few weeks.  I'm looking forward to HHH/Rock/Stone Cold Vs the nWo at 'Mania though.  Oh yeah, rating: * at best.

I'm looking forward to Rock/nWo promos and Stone Cold/nWo promos.  All three nWo members are great in promos and the Rock & Stone Cold are two of the best in the business.  This backstage segment ruled, I hope I can find this on Morphius or somewhere it was THAT good.

Stone Cold Vs Jericho was an ok match.  Nowhere near as good as their other matches but it was ok.  The nWo interfierence was good at the end and seeing the nWo spraypaint again was cool it just showed that the nWo is back again brotha and no-one'll be able to stop it!  Rating: **1/2

I liked it mainly for the nWo, but also because the matches entertained me even if they weren't great.

--NOTE-- I was just watching one of the nWo segments (you know the "The following announcement has been payed for by the new World order" ones) from WCW on Roddy Piper and I hope that they do these in the WWF.  As long as they don't do the McMahon ego boosting "The following announcement has been payed for by Vince McMahon" things at the beginning.  But the nWo segements used to rule and it wouldn't be the nWo without them!

HHH/Kurt wasn't even decent? You have REALLY high standards then, which is amazing since you must watch WWF TV on a regular basis.

Pulling out a Canada/US feud wouldn't make a bit of sense at this point. Both are playing cowardly heels and Jericho hasn't said anything about Canada in ages. Again, 4 weeks until Wrestlemania.

It's either going to be HHH getting his shot back or a Triple threat.

That was REALLY bad. HGH dragged Kurt way the hell down. Austin/Jericho was terrible. I really didn't mind Rock/Taker up until the end. Regal/Edge was so God Damned boring, and Goldie/RVD just kept GOING AND GOING! Test killed a semi-decent match. Turmoil was the best match of the show.

i didnt really enjoy it, it was too damn slow, and it didnt capture my attention.  i found my mind wandering, though i was absolutely *shocked* when angle actually got th 1-2-3.  though i cant imagine they will do heel/heel, hopefully they bring somebody else into the title picture, and get trips into the nwo picture.  rvd is the only really viable face at that level now, but i can definitely see benoit getting a world title reign upon his return now, as there will be no other face contenders for the belt.

Jericho busted out an anti american statement a few weeks ago on Raw after Bush choked on a pretzel.

There are almost always 4 weeks between ppvs to build up Main Events.

HHH vs. Jericho would be really bad.

And if they go with the triple threat...it's only because HHH can't carry himself in the ring and they need to add someone (like Foley added to SummerSlam 99)

I forgot to say, I thought The Rock's promo with the nWo was hilarious. Making fun of Hall & Nash was priceless. It seems like that segment will start the Hogan/Rock feud.

This year's show appears to have broken the streak for the February PPVs.  Typically, No Way Out / St. Valentine's Day Massacre / Final Four / etc. is one of the strongest shows of the year.  This year's version pales in comparison to any of the PPVs held at that time of the year, with the possible exception of the 1998 effort, as there were no matches that appear to be close to ***, let alone a ****+ match like HBK-Owen, HHH-Foley, HHH-Austin, etc.

USA / Canada *could* work.  All Jericho would have to do is march out to the ring to open RAW tomorrow waving a Canadian flag and start shooting on America.  Say Angle, you have no chance blah blah and just try to sound like HBK but in Bret Hart's role.

Yeah, but this is Wrestlemania. I would hope they have the match set up 2 weeks before the event. For the match to work one of the two would have to make a serious character change and come on, that's not going to happen in that short of time. Why would Ross go out of his way to talk about how ridiculous it is Kurt is going to Wrestlemania if he really is going in just to fight Jericho?

That would be my guess.

you could probably call the main *** - ***1/2, angle/trips i have no idea, rvd/goldust **-**1/2, edge regal would be the same, tage team turmoil was awesome at the start, but was killed by having 2 teams of stiffs finish it, and the booker/test v spike/taz was too short and just filler.

Now the question is this:

Rock and Austin are obviously going to be involved with the NWO at MAnia

but that's only 2.

Flair will be with Taker...so they can't be the third man.

Regardless of what happens...Angle won't be the third man (cause it makes 0 sense)

So does HHH go against NWO (Where he will surely end his face run by joining the NWO) or does he get into a 3 way title match or just one on one for title?

And if HHH does get into the title picture...who is the third man?

I went to No Way Out tonight. I don't know if anyone else posted this, but after the show went off Hall returned to the ring, taunted Stone Cold and then proceeded to get his ass kicked. Austin spraypainted what we thought was "SA" on Hall's back, then enjoyed some Steveweisers.

I posted what I wanted to have happen tonight a few days ago...and Angle vs. Jericho  at Mania was one of them.

The reason:  The NWO costing Austin the match means that it will be heel vs. heel at Mania.  The NWO is all about killing tradition...what kills tradition more than that?

I'm not going to complain about a match that could lead to a ****+ stars .  ESPECIALLY after tonights efforts.

Posted

They could blow off UT/Flair on a RAW or Smackdown.

If HHH was going to fight the nWo it would have made more sense to have him talk to them backstage like Austin and Rock, and have THEM cost him the match.

Kurt vs. Jericho vs. HHH makes the most sense. There would be more heat since Kurt and HHH have an issue, the match might be better and the WWF probably thinks it'd be a better draw.

*sigh*

"Shooting" on America's so damn passe.  I'd rather they just make it a really crazy heel v. heel match and let both Angle and Jericho go all out in the heel goodness.  But, if they pull the trump card, I guess we're due for it (Slaughter in 90-91, Bret Hart in 97, now Jericho in 2002 - loosely 5-6 years between each).  And, with the Olympics going on right now, all the better for Jericho to unleash some anger for Canadian repression...

2 heels vs. a not over face...I think that a Canada vs. America program would draw just as much heat.

Guest Anglesault

They can't put Hunter in the main. He is just... THAT DAMN BAD! The bitter pill of irony strikes again. Seriously, HHH is awful in the ring and not all that over.

That could also kill the buy rate. I would personally rather see Jericho/Kurt too, but that doesn't make sense storyline and business wise. Why would the WWF take HHH out of the main event just because he's been weak in the ring? This is the same promotion that put Sid and Taker in the main event before, remember?

Guest The Vanilla Midget

they need a face to be the 3rd man.  as it stands we have:

angle/jericho undisputed title

austin/hall

rock/hogan (there were seeds planted for these 2)

flair/hogan

rvd/regal maybe??

but anyway, unless hhh can weasel his way into the main event picture, he would probably wrestle nash, which hardly inspires me to order mania, but at least it would be better than taker/nash.  also, there are really no other faces on a high enough level apart from hhh who can fill this spot on the card.

They could use HBK as the 3rd man. Then have him turn and become the 4th member of the nWo.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21

The WWF is banking on the NWO vs. top faces to draw the buyrate.

If they go with a triple threat or Jericho/HHH...the match will suck.

Then we'll have a shitty NWO match.

2 shitty Main Events?  That also kills buyrates...ask WCW.

At least if they kept Angle vs. Jericho, people will get to see a good match.

Sid vs. Taker...

Taker at that point was moving better than HHH is now...

and that Main also led to the lowest buyrate in Mania histroy.

If Vince is going to spend all his effort and money on the NWO angl...they have to face the biggest three names in the company.

Guest The Vanilla Midget

the problem is getting hbk back into the storyline and up to a high enough level to defend against nwo. although, they could book a 6 man for mania, but there are only 2 wwf guys (rock and austin).  then on the final raw before mania, they give out a plea for someone to come help them.  this can lead to hbk returning on smackdown (timeframe isnt essential here) and claiming the 3rd spot to defend the wwf.  of course we would all see the turn coming a mile away, but hey. /fantasy booking mode off.

also, if hhh does go into the main against 2 fairly hot heels, could there be an even more shameless attempt at getting over??

Posted

We're talking about the WWF, they apparently don't take "this match will suck" into consideration. They just put Edge/Regal on 3 ppvs!
