Great tag team matches.

I was watching Wrestlefest 94 today, thinking of how great the Steiners-Harts tag match was. We all should understand that Misawa/Kobashi vs. Taue/Kawada is the best tag of all time, but what are some of your American favorites?

 

Three that stick out in my mind are the Harts-Steainers match, Ramon/123 Kid vs. HBK/Diesel, and Benoit/Jericho vs. Raven/Saturn at Spring Stampede '99

My personal fave when it comes to tagteam is Hartfoundation vs. Arn & Tully at Summerslam 89. I have it rated ****3/4. Raven/Saturn against Malenko & Benoit was alsow awesome. ****1/2 in my eyes.

Damn! I forgot about Arn/Tully vs. The Hart Foundation. Great match. The only WWF PPV when Arn & Tully appeared as WWF Tag Champs.

It's a little more recent, but I'm really fond of the Austin/Michaels v. Owen/Bulldog tag match on Raw in May '97.  Great match in the middle of an amazing Hart Foundation angle.

Yeah, HBK/SCSA vs. Owen & Bulldog was a great match on Raw. I think it went about 20 minutes. Not many matches go on that long now.

Probably my favorite Tag Team Match of all Time, Orient Express vs The Rockers at Rumble '91, that was such a great match and man what a HOT opener, will always remember that match, I don't think anybody couldnt remember it

I liked Hart Foundation/Demolition from SummerSlam 90 and Rockers/Orients from RR 91. Another match I always liked, that is sometimes overlooked was Rock n Roll Express vs The Heavenly Bodies at Survivor Series 1993.

The Ricky Steamboat/Shane Douglas vs. The Hollywood Blondes feud over the WCW Tag Titles in early 1993 had some killer matches.

A match I taped off of WCW Saturday night in 1994, which was Sting/Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair and Steve Austin

Dustin Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat vs. The Enforcers at the Nov. 1991 Clash

Raven/Saturn vs. Horsemen vs. Kidman/Mysterio 3 Way for the WCW Tag Titles

Steiners vs. Heavenly Bodies at Summerslam 1993

The buildup with Windham giving the speech and steamboat(i mark4steamboat ya know) taking off the hood is great. The Enforcers reacting the way the did was classic.

If I am not mistaking I remember Ricky Steamboat was wearing some giant mask and Windham was giving a speech and he had his hand rapped and he was holding the microphone with his left hand and then Steamboat took off the mask and everyone went nuts!!!Oh man that was just plain awesome!!!

steiners vs gordy and williams from beach blast 92 was the shit.  Raven and richards vs pitbulls was classic ecw.  Its too bad wwf had all 5 kaientai and couldn't pull a decent 6,8, or 10 man tag out of it.

A great tag match that I used to love but haven't seen in a while is the Bulldogs vs. Dream Team from WM 2.  I know it's probably one of their lesser matches, but that match was one of the few good things about that dreadful PPV and I sadly haven't been privleged enough to see many of their matches.

 

I know many of the matches here are old school, but I still really love the HHH/Austin vs. Jericho/Benoit match from last May's RAW.  I wasn't expecting much and got (IMO) the Match Of The Year for 2001.  Awesome stuff.

The best house show match I ever saw was Midnight Express v. Tully and Arn.  This feud was cut short by The Brainbusters heading north.

My favorite tag match was Austin & Flair vs. Sting and Steamboat from a Saturday Nights Main Event in 94.

I loved Austin and Rude vs Sting and Steamboat from Clash 18 but my favorite is the 10 team tag from Survivor Series 88.

WWF: The Rockers vs. Orient Express - Royal Rumble'91. That spot where Michaels jumps and lands chestfirst on the strap that Tanaka and Kato were going to clothesline him with and it rams their heads together was one those out-of-nowhere-moves that Michaels always specialised in.

 

NWA/WCW: Midnight Express vs. Southern Boys - Bash'90. Huge markout moment for me when Stan Lane goes into a karate stance and looks ultra confident even though he's the heel. This is my favorite US tag match of all time.

Another good MX match was them against Pillman and ZMan at Capitol Combat 90 although I agree that the Bash match is better.

Since they've had many matches, you should specify which one you're referring to.  But I'm pretty sure it's 6/9/95.  Anyways, no I don't think it's the best tag of all-time.  There were two others that I think are better, which if you've read my posts, you'll know what they are.

That Midnights-Southern Boys match was always one of my favourites as well.

 

Steiners V Harts is awesome, as is Kid & Razor V Shawn & Diesel (still trying to track it down again- what tapes it on again?).  Midnights-Fantastics matches are brilliant, well worth tracking down.  

 

More recently- brilliant 10 man tag on Raw in 2000 between Rock, Too Cool, Rikishi and Jack V HHH & The Radicalz.  Another one I recommend is a 1998 Nitro match between Jericho & Eddie G V Benoit and Malenko.  They may have had more than one, but they're both great.

 

Steiners V Fujinami and (jesus, I can't remember!) is great because of how one-sided it is.  Steiners V Hase & Sasaki from Tokyo Dome in 91 is very good as well.

 

All a shame really that very little we get nowadays with tag teams is any good.  Dudleys and Hardyz are alright, but it's always the same.  Interesting to note as well that none of the matches I've mentioned here required one table to be broke...
